Thirty Days in Paris is the gloriously escapist and wonderfully romantic new novel from award-winning author Veronica Henry.
Juliet is at a crossroads. She’s separated from her husband, her children are all flying the nest and she finds herself at a loss as to what to do with her life. Paris has always held plenty of memories for Juliet and years ago, she had left a peace of her heart in France. With no responsibilities or commitments weighing her down, Juliet decides to put on her best red lipstick and head off to Paris on the first train out of London where she books a cosy attic apartment near Notre-Dame.
From the second she sets foot in the Gare du Nord, the memories come flooding back. Juliet remembers days spent in the bustling street cafés and nights sipping cheap wine in candlelit bars enraptured by a boy with glittering eyes. For the past two decades, Juliet has kept a secret very close to her chest, but the time has come for her to face the past head-on in order to vanquish old ghosts and forge forward into the future.
The next thirty days are going to change everything for Juliet – and they might just provide her with the second chance at happiness she had long given up on…
Veronica Henry strikes gold with her latest novel, Thirty Days in Paris. Heartwarming, enchanting, poignant, dramatic and so irresistible I couldn’t bear to put it down, Thirty Days in Paris is a terrific tale about fresh starts, healing from the past, new beginnings and love lost and found I adored.
Juliet is a brilliant heroine women everywhere will relate to and cheer for. Paris is described in such gorgeous and vivid detail that readers will feel as if they are strolling down the Champs-Elysees with Juliet and the terrific cast of characters that people Thirty Days in Paris.
A delicious and delightful treat for romantics everywhere, Thirty Days in Paris is another winner by Veronica Henry.
"Thirty Days in Paris" by Veronica Henry is a delightful journey into the heart of romance and nostalgia. The novel follows Juliet as she returns to Paris after three decades to reconnect with her first love, exploring the possibility of a rekindled romance. The narrative effortlessly alternates between the past and present, creating a seamless and engaging reading experience.
Henry's vivid descriptions of Paris provide the perfect backdrop for Juliet's emotional exploration, making it an ideal escapist read. The characters are well-developed, and the story's pacing keeps the reader hooked from start to finish. The epilogue ties up the story nicely, though it leaves one wishing for just a bit more. Overall, "Thirty Days in Paris" is a charming and heartwarming read that will resonate with anyone who believes in the enduring power of true love.
30 days and life might just change, but will it be for the better or not, well, you'll need to read this captivating book. What I will say is that a 2 decade secret adds emotion and is a really good vehicle of creating this adventure. She's a woman after my own heart, in some ways, so I found Juliet interesting in what took her back to Paris and how she deals with her past.
I am a firm believer of, if something ends and you have memories of a particular place, it is worth re-visiting to create new memories that can then, to a certain extent, supersede those of old.
The city brings evocative scenes, adding richness and colour to the Juliet's journey to try and re-discover her dreams and discover where she's heading. Whilst in Paris, she rekindles old friendships and romance, once again beckons.
30 Days In Paris is a warm, engrossing book.
Such a lovely book with evocative descriptions of Parisian life. I really enjoyed this story by Veronica Henry which covers the past and present of Juliet - from being a young adult as she comes to Paris to work as an au pair for a wealthy family, to the present day where she arrives back in Paris for thirty days, to write her memoir following the breakdown of her marriage.
The descriptions are perfect (note to self: must book a Paris mini break!), the characters are brilliantly written, and this novel provided the perfect escapism from a dreary January up north.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I loved reading this book about Juliet, a woman who wanted to stretch her wings by revisiting Paris. Veronica Henry books never fail to please and certainly this was the case when reading this book. I felt drawn into the story and the characters felt like friends. Well worth reading.
Juliet is a similar age to me, with children of a similar age (although in an dissimilar way, I haven’t separated from my husband!) and so there was lots to empathise with immediately. Coincidentally Juliet was from Worcester – and I write this from a coffee shop in the shadow of Worcester Cathedral as I wait to pick my kids up from school!! And whilst Juliet might have been disparaging about a night out here, my 20 and 18 year olds love an evening at Sin and Bush!!
Juliet closes the door on the old family home – and heads off to Paris to revisit where she’d spent some time in her teenage years. She rents a little flat – and it sounds wonderful! The descriptions of the nearby cafes and bars – and re-exploring Paris were very evocative – it almost felt like I was there.
You know something bad happened on Juliet’s first visit – and there are flashbacks to her time as an au pair – and the friends she had back in the 90s – but it takes quite a while for what actually happened to be revealed. I felt sorry for young Juliet – she had been so young and naïve.
The two time lines play out – intertwining – and I kept wanting to read ‘just one more chapter’ to find out what was happening – which is truly the sign of a good book. Overall a fantastic, escape to France, and a highly enjoyable read.
Whilst I’m behind the times in reviewing it – this does at least mean you can order it right now if you fancy it – and I’m not tempting you weeks before it actually comes out!
A big thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my ARC – and I promise to be more efficient with future titles!!
A very sweet story about finding yourself or reinventing yourself and second chances.
After splitting up with her husband, Juliette returns to Paris, where she spent some time as an au-pair in her youth. Feeling a bit lost and wanting closure, she embarks on a quest to revisit some of the things she regretted most from her time in Paris. And in doing she, she may just find herself in the process.
I really loved this book. So much so I've just got it in paperback too. Really makes you want to go to Paris.
I always enjoy books from this author. Thank you Netgalley.
This is such a sweet read! Juliet goes to Paris in the wake of her divorce with her husband of 25 years to find the man she can't forget: Olivier.
This book had me smiling and I particularly loved how the book had two timeframes, so you really feel like you're a part of Juliet's journey.
Such a sweet book!
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Orion for this ARC!
What a wonderful book. I’ve always wanted to go to Paris and this has really cemented it, I felt like I was there, the descriptions were so fantastic, not only of the sights but the food and the atmosphere. Everything was just perfectly French. Veronica Henry obviously has a great love for the city and this really shone through.
I hadn’t expected the dual timeline so was pleasantly surprised and felt it added so much depth to read about Juliet’s first visit and then experience it through her older eyes where so much has changed for her.
I’ve read a few Veronica Henry books and this is definitely my favourite!
I loved reading this one. I just love this kind of books.
4 stars read for me. I love this author snd her writing style.
Thanks to netgally for this arc.
Veronica Henry has inspired me to go to Paris even more than I wanted to before. I read this book in one sitting, and I was devastated when I had completed it. This was the perfect read I needed at the time, allowing me to completely escape into the storyline itself.
Juliet is starting a new chapter in her life, and decides to spend time in Paris. This book goes back and forth, from when Juliet visited Paris when she was younger to present day, visiting Paris. An enjoyable read, from a good author.
Another excellent book from Veronica Henry this time set in Paris. An engaging read you cannot help but be drawn into the relationship between Juliet and Oliver, alongside evocative and fantastic descriptions of Paris, this makes this book a heart-warming enjoyable read. I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next book from Veronica Henry
Thanks to Net Galley for the ARC of this book.
Beautiful, loved this book, it’s now made me want to visit Paris!
Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.
I finished #ThirtyDaysInParis with a strong desire for my own Les Liaisons Dangereuses! With a sizzling second-chance-at-first-love affair, an intriguing duel timeline back story, and a celebration of all things Parisian - the sights, smells, sounds, art, culture, food, fashion - this is a sumptuous charcuterie board of delights! Loved it!
Juliet, the main character of Thirty Days in Paris by bestseller author Veronica Henry is back in the city where thirty years ago left a piece of her heart. Divorced and with grown up children, she takes the first train from London and heads to her rented room near Notre Dame. Curious, with a positive attitude and ready to find out the piece of herself that identifies with the city, she is getting back to herself, her plans and dreams.
The novel is fully escapist but in a gentle pleasant way, which does not ignore the struggles and sensitivities of a broken heart. What pleased me the most was the detailed descriptions of Paris, that one can feel it while reading, as you are there with the book characters.
For lovers of Paris and romance, Thirty Days in Paris looks like a perfect escape, just in time after the strikes are taking a break and summer holidays are coming. Because Paris is always a good idea...
I devoured this book. I loved the Paris description. You could really see Juliet’s love and appreciation for this stunning city. I have been to Paris, but her descriptions made me want to go back.
Juliet is a woman in her 50s and after an amicable divorce from her husband she decides to move to Paris and try to rediscover herself. She plunges head first in the city and takes some brave decisions. Juliet makes new friends and rekindles old friendships, all while falling in love with the city of lights again.
I loved the relationship between Juliet and Oliver and how it evolves. Both have lived a life apart and have the scars to show for it. These scars make them reluctant to fully commit to each other. The city has other plans though.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this book and cannot wait to read more from Veronica Henry.
This is a truly gorgeous book. I loved the setting of Paris and this has a lovely plot that is emotional as well as funny. This also had wonderful characters and was just a joy to read.
Thank you to NetGalley and Orion Publishing Group for an advance copy.
Oh how I loved this book from start to finish. I want a trip to Paris too. I couldn't stop reading this and had a couple of late nights but it was worth it. I have read all of Veronica's books all do not disappoint.
