Schedule Send: in 20 Years is a candid epistolary with an uncanny insight into human nature and mental health written with intelligence and forethought. Two ex lovers with current partners email each other with intense introspection, reflection and obsession. Iskra is in Bangkok, Ognen is in Macedonia but of course email allows them to remain attached emotionally. Iskra's partner, John, is aware of the emotional affair (he has fantasies of his own) but Ognen's partner Gorica is not which makes the dynamic especially troubling. Both couples also have children.

What disturbed me most are the incredibly dysfunctional relationships and the graphic sexual descriptions which really detracted from the exchange. Though epistolary novels are my wheelhouse, sadly I cannot recommend this book.

This is quite a lovely book in the way it is written and the way in which the author brings the characters to life with such care and detail. Some tough concepts but well worth sticking with it as there are important messages here.
