What If I Never is the first book in the Necklace Trilogy. Allison is at work when she receives a mysterious package containing an expensive necklace. When she decides to try to track down the owner of the necklace she ends up with a new job, a mysterious boss, and a relationship with one of her favorite authors. This book is written from Allison's perspective so the reader only gets part of the story. Dash is a client at Hawk Legal where Allison gets a job. Their attraction to each other is instant but can they overcome the hurdles in their way to have a relationship.
Allison starts out the story with a lot of baggage. She is in Nashville temporarily because her mother is recovering from cancer treatment. She loves her mother fiercely and has come to love her stepfather over the years as well. I suspect there’s some backstory there but the author hasn’t introduced a lot to go on. Allison has some pretty serious issues with her father. The author has introduced that relationship and it is clear that it will be explored more in subsequent installments. Allison grew up most of her life in Nashville but ended up living in New York City when she started her career. She loves both cities but she’s torn whether she wants to stay in Nashville or return to New York City. For fans of the author’s Inside Out series you will be happy to know that Mark Compton plays a role in this book even if it is a very small role. Allison works for Mark at Riptide. She ends up leveraging that career in order to get a new job in Nashville at Hawk Legal.
As far as the mystery part of the story (there’s always a mystery), Allison receives a necklace that should have been delivered to the Allison that works for Hawk Legal. Trying to do the right thing and return the necklace ends up taking Allison down a path she never imagined. She meets Tyler Hawk who ends up becoming her temporary boss. She also meets Dash Black. Both men are mysterious and intense. They have a tension in their relationship that makes it seem like they hate each other and Allison has to navigate that tension with care. From that point, I can’t say much else without spoilers.
This is a fairly typical Lisa Renee Jones story. There are alpha men, strong women, mysteries abound, secrets around every corner to be revealed, lots of money and great levels of intensity. This story ends on a cliffhanger so if you don’t like them I suggest being prepared to read all three books straight through. I enjoyed this story so I will definitely read the next installment in the series.

It took me a quite a bit of the book for me to get invested in the story. But once I did, I enjoyed the book. This is a perfect example of Netgalley introducing me to a new author. Thank goodness I was able to binge the whole trilogy, because each book is left on a cliffhanger. The trilogy as interesting enough to get me to try out more books from LRJ.
Thank you to Lisa Renee Jones and the publisher for the free copy via Netgalley.

I didn't expect to like this book so much, i know that this book was published last year but it was able on NetGalley. so i requested it. It was a nice surprise it has a hooking plot from the start. It's nice for those who enjoy this kind of book.
Mystery, secrets, love, vulnerability

I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review. I just fell in love with this wonderful story and it’s wonderful characters. I just couldn’t get enough of it. I will most definitely be reading more books by this wonderful author.

Absolutely brilliant story. I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys this genre. Sucks you in and doesn't let go xx

Let me start by saying that I wasn't expecting to love this book so much. Never read anything by the author so I jump on What If I Never without any expectations and it delivered everything I love about a book that's supposed to be a light read.
It has great character development, it touches sensible topics in a not-so-superficial way, the writing style is on point and the chemistry between the main characters is palpable.
It hooked me up from the beginning with its fair share of coincidences that create a good plot for the book. You see this book starts with a small mystery and ends with an even bigger one. It makes you question which characters are involved in said mystery, you make assumptions and they are mistaken. And when you reach the end of the book you are completely hooked and facing a cliffhanger that most likely will lead to a reading marathon of the whole The Necklace Trilogy - that's most likely what I'm gonna do next after I finish this book!
Please, don't walk: run to get your copy of this first book, you won't regret it!! 🤩

Finally, I would to thank Julie Patra Publishing for providing the ebook for this review.

This story starts with a necklace sent to the wrong person and leads Allison to two mysterious men and the mystery of where the first Allison is. The story is intriguing with twists and turns. I just wish it didn't end on a cliff hanger.

Really enjoyed this one. But then I expected to as I am a fan of Jones. Not sure how I missed this one when it was initially released though. The nice thing is that the trilogy is complete and I don't have to wait for the next two books.
I loved Allison, she was very vivid and fully realized. I am anxious to know more about Dash though. I loved the setting and have always wondered how auctions worked. I love Jones' writing style and pacing. I am off to pick up the next book in the series.

What if I never, is a pretty good story. The characters are smart, mysterious and the story is exciting in the way it's build around secrets hidden in plain sight for some of them. It's a cliffhanger though, so read it at your own risk.

What if I Never is the first book in The Necklace trilogy by Lisa Renee Jones.
Allison isn't supposed to be in Nashville, her life is in New York with her dream job. Yet here she is looking at a necklace that was delivered to her in error. And now she's stepped into the life of another woman. Yet even though she's doing a job to keep busy and help with a crisis there are so many unanswered questions. Allison isn't running anymore, so when she's drawn to the sexy man from the elevator the decision to take it further is impossible to turn down. Dash is just as complicated as everything else currently happening in her life. Add that her new boss is hard to read and keeps warning her off Dash. Now figuring out the secrets and realizing that Dash may able to give her a reason stay where she feels at home.

Thanks to netgalley and the publishers for allowing me to receive an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Sadly,I didn't enjoy this book at all and found it rather boring.

A quick read. Good, but not great. Ends on a cliffhanger. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the read.

Ok there we have it. I have to read Lisa's backlist now.
This is book 1 in the Necklace Trilogy. And I couldn't be happier to see this is a series!
