I just adored this book. Could not put it down and feel envious of anyone who gets to read it for the first time!

If you liked Where the Crawdads Sing you will like this. Its not as good but still a very satisfying, easy read.

Unfortunately after multiple attempts to connect with this book I have had to admit defeat and mark as dnf.

I love being given the opportunity to update our school library which is a unique space for both senior students and staff to access high quality literature. This is definitely a must-buy. It kept me absolutely gripped from cover to cover and is exactly the kind of read that just flies off the shelves. It has exactly the right combination of credible characters and a compelling plot thatI just could not put down. This is a great read that I couldn't stop thinking about and it made for a hugely satisfying read. I'm definitely going to order a copy and think it will immediately become a popular addition to our fiction shelves. 10/10 would absolutely recommend.

A well researched and beautifully crafted story about a doomed love affair and its legacy. Slightly slow in parts but the story is poignant and brings to life the hardships and prejudices of early 20th century rural America.

Go as a river is one of those books that Is going to stay with me for a long time. Just epic if you like historical fiction and intense writing that you can almost smell the air and taste the food the author is describing. Check this story out.

An unexpected story, one that really makes you think about how people treat each other and how preconceived ideas of a people can cause such harm. Ultimately this is about a young girl, Victoria and a young man she meets called Will Moon. She was infatuated by his looks and personality as soon as she met him, he was a Native Indian but she didn’t know that at the time, she loved him at first sight. They had to meet in secret as it was 1960’s small town Montana and she knew her father and brother (her mother had died when she was young) would not approve.
Will was tourmented and ultimately tortured and killed by the young white boys in the area. However, V had become pregnant - not knowing anything about what to do except that her family would be very angry, she escaped to the mountains and a small hut she and Will had found. Her innocence and ignorance meant that she thought she could give birth alone, feeding herself on her garden and a few supplies. Two weeks after giving birth she was desperate and left her newborn son in a strangers car, when she saw the mother feeding her own new baby nearby and hoped that they would look after her son. They did and the story develops, to where V eventually meets her son 20 years later.. A great read

This book is not my cup of tea. Far too much rambling on about boring stuff flitting from one thing to another and not much action. I gave up early on.

'Go as a River' by Shelley Read is a fantastically gripping book that is both beautiful and heartbreaking all at once. The obvious parallel is 'Where the Crawdads Sing' but, 'Go as a River' is a beautifully lyrical book. I really feel for Will and Torie throughout and, neither deserved the life they lived. There are some very uncomfortable themes in this book, the obvious hatred and racism and otherness. Themes of abandonment and loneliness as Torie tries to pick up the pieces and carry on. An incredible book, I couldnt put this down and can't wait for the screen adaptation.

A story set in the 1940's about two totally unforgettable characters who feel a chemistry. A beautiful setting, written by a local to the area in Colorado. Very moving, with some interesting strands. Heart warming and heart breaking at the same time.

I was sent a copy of Go as a River by Shelley Read to read and review by NetGalley. What an absolutely wonderful book this is! It is so beautifully written, so poignant and had me wanting to eat fresh ripe peaches all day long! This is, pardon the pun, a real peach of a novel. If you like a wonderful descriptive story, full of emotion and life then this is the book for you! What more can I say?! Enjoy!

This was a very sad story at times but also very interesting. A young girl , part of a farming family, meets and fall in love with a young American Indian boy, who is condemned by the community because he is dark skinned.They fall in love but their relationship ends when he is killed by her bother and his friend. She fights to overcome all the difficulties she faces and builds a new future after her home is lost with the building of a reservoir. There is so much hope in the conclusion.

his is a beautiful piece of literature. The writing alone is unlike anything I’ve read before, so beautifully written it’s almost lyrical.

I have been completely pulled into the pages of this one. The vivid descriptions have made me feel familiarity with the setting, characters.

I knew I was going to love this book but I had completely underestimated how much. A chance meeting, four decades with our main character and a lot of passion, heartache and betrayal.

I have been completely caught up in this one. This is one of those reads that stats with you long after reading.

This is stunning, atmospheric and a debut that has completely blown me away. I have devoured page after page in just one sitting.

This is such a beautiful, heart wrenching novel. It's a beautifully written novel about Victoria Nash, a teenager growing up in Colorado in the aftermath of World War 2. It spans her life from the chance meeting with the handsome and kind Wilson Moon, till the 1970s.

The novel explores the themes of racism, bigotry and feminism in a wonderful way. It's only a short novel, but I was pulled in by the prose and my desire to follow the lives of the characters and see how their lives went. I found myself in tears numerous times during this book.

I really fell for Victoria and Wilson straight away. It's a quiet, unassuming novel with a very big punch. I truly loved this book.
