It took a while to get in to the story, but once I did, I couldn't put it down. It's not a book I would typically read, romance here is scarce, just a secondary storyline, the primary one is heroine's journey through fears, anxiety, childhood traumas, loneliness to find inner strength, acceptance and self-assurance. And it wasn't an easy journey - sometimes awkward, sometimes painful, yet, nevertheless, uplifting and warming my heart.

I totally thought Because You Loved Me was going to be this cute little meet cute/romance novel but it was so much more. It made me laugh, cry and gasp all at once. The characters were so beautiful that you fell in love with each and everyone of them but Scarlett was my favourite.

Marion came from such a rough life, without the love of her mother and the death of her father causing her to barely speak to people. A change of scenery is what she needs to heal herself and forgive her past. There are moments in this book that truly make you think of how life is for everyone, and how everyone really does go through hard parts, but the positivity in this book outweighs the horrible moments and teaches us to always look for the good in life.

I love a good rom-com or romance book and Because you Loved Me hit the spot! Set in the heart of Sherwood Forest, it is the story of Marion who has travelled to England to escape her tragic upbringing but also to find out more about her father who died when she was a child. She stops for directions and meets Scarlet who turns her life around in a completely different direction but at the same time, gives Marion the healing that she needs. As Marion settles into her new life at the Pig and Peace campsite, we see her previous experiences through her memories as she gradually comes to terms with who she is now. She has fought to overcome her past and continues to do that through this book. She is helped by a whole host of secondary characters including the amazing Scarlet as well as meeting others who do not want her to discover her father’s past. I loved the other characters especially Lord and Lady Hatherstone who are growing old disgracefully and also Scarlet’s daughter, Grace who wants to travel her own path. The Sherwood Forest setting is lovely too.
If I have any criticism it is that the author has almost packed too much into this book. It takes place over an entire year and the seasons go by in a flash.
It is still a lovely read though and I did enjoy Marion’s journey.

I was expecting a fun, lighthearted read but this book is so much more than that. This is my third book (this year!) by Beth Moran, both Just The Way You Are and Let It Snow were also four star reads for me. Her books always evoke a lot of emotions as they are a little bit romantic, a little bit humourous, and are written with a lot of heart.

This story has characters that will touch you in unexpected ways, all of them have real life issues that they deal with in a realistic way. I connected to them and wanted them to overcome their obstacles and be true to themselves because I really cared about what happened to them. I know Marion is the main character in this and I adored her but Scarlett was my favourite character. She was just so loving and wise. And I have to mention how much I adored Valarie, she was so smart with all her facts.

The main plotline is Marion trying to find out about her dad and a mysterious photo but I honestly felt that was secondary as the characters and community of the camp were at the forefront of the story. It is told from the point of view of Marion and we also get flashbacks to her childhood. That made me angry, her mother was a real piece of work, and even though she had her reasons I couldn't help feeling mad at her and so bad for Marion. In the end Marion realizes she is a lot stronger than she thinks and I cheered her on while she progressed and came into her own.

I wholeheartedly recommend this and ALL of Beth Moran's books I've mentioned. Let it Snow would make an excellent holiday read!

Any book that has love in the title normally hooks me for the first page. This one was no exception. I loved it- from the characters to the setting. It was fantastic and I want to read more books from this author right now. It was an honor to review this book.

Three and a half stars.

Marion flees her home in Northern Ireland, her neglectful mother, and her fiancé, to travel to Sherwood Forest seeking answers about her father, who died when Marion was a small child. Looking for directions to the visitor centre, Marion is mistaken for someone else and gets a temporary job taking bookings at a holiday park. The manager of the holiday park, Scarlett takes Marion under her wing and gives her a caravan to live in and a job at the park.

There are two men who seem to be interested in Marion, her co-worker Jake, who has his own tragic family life, and Reuben, the son of the local lord of the manor. But someone else seems to have their eye on Jake, and Reuben already has a very glamorous girlfriend.

As Marion investigates her father's secret past, she clearly upsets someone judging by the threatening note that is thrown through her window, but then the future of the holiday park is put in jeopardy and Marion must do everything in her power to keep it going.

There is so much I have missed out, absentee fathers, Robin Hood re-enactments, assault, murder, illness, abuse, cooking lessons, BBQs, pigs and chickens, a fancy ball, al fresco romps, and more. And, unfortunately for me, that was part of the problem, this felt like Beth Moran threw everything but the kitchen sink at this one. Marion's childhood was tragic, and depressing. There are numerous 'baddies', most of whom are caricatures (and also women - why is that?) when just one would have sufficed. There are multiple issues affecting the caravan park and its inhabitants. I think this would have been better if the stories had been spread across several novels so that each person got their own book.

Overall, a charming romance, despite the numerous sad events depicted.

Marion has crossed the Irish Sea to solve a mystery. A mystery that has hung over her head for many years. Just what was Nottingham going to reveal to her?

I found this one a bit slower and trickier to get into but I was glad that I persevered with it.

This book was okay, I enjoyed the Marion's character growth and the general plot of the book, however it took me a while to actually get into the book and at times I found myself quite bored.

I think the Author's writing is great though and super descriptive. I just think the pacing and a few other minor things held the book back for me

A tender and heartwarming read, centered on Marion, a young woman from Northern Ireland escaping an abusive home life and finding her place among a motley group of characters living in Nottinghamshire in rural England. Although Marion initially travels to Nottinghamshire to learn more about her late father, who grew up in the area and who died when she was a small child, the real meat of the story is about Marion's emotional growth and healing from her terrible childhood, and how she learns to be part of a loving and supportive community. To be 100% honest, I had a bit of trouble getting into the book at the beginning. After the seventh chapter, the pace picked up for me and I started liking Marion and understanding her. More than anything, this book is a story of forgiveness and self-love.

What I loved:
- The detail that Beth writes. I was able to visual all the scenery and specific details about characters and loved that
- Marion. I loved watching her grow, discover herself and move forward
- After the first few introductory chapters, the pace picks up and the book turns into more of an emotional roller coaster. I wasn't expecting it to be as emotional as it was.

What I didn't:
-Too much of a slow pace in the beginning. It was hard to get an idea of what the book was about until at least seven chapters in
- I would have loved to know more about the supporting characters, but then again this is Marion's story.

All in all, I found Because You Loved Me to be a heartwarming story! I really enjoyed the emotional rollercoaster and the growth that Marion experienced!

A lovely 5* read! One that stays with you for ages afterwards primarily because you can relate to what so many of the characters are going through. Told with great heart and empathy, a mix of sadness and courage to overcome all the things life can throw at people. Beautiful storytelling

A heartwarming read with some very strong characters especially Marion, Scarlett, Grace and Valerie. It deals with a lot iof issues in a gentle and caring way. A story of live and forgiveness and how to deal with the past and look to the future. Some happy moments and some weepy ones too.

This one was exceptionally deep, despite the cute cover. I was not prepared for this one to be so though provoking and compelling. The layers of this story are simply beautiful.

Marion needs a fresh start and there’s no better place to get that than in England. She is determined to find out more about her father’s mysterious past as she lost him when she was young. Scarlett runs a holiday park and is best known for making people feel like they belong. Scarlett welcomes Marion to her holiday park, Sherwood Forest, with open arms and open ears. As Marion slowly uncovers her father’s past she learns that she might not have outgrown and outrun her past…Then, when things go wrong with Scarlett, it’s Marion’s turn to take care of everyone and she learns, while you can’t choose your family, you can make your friends the family you deserve.

This is a story of forgiveness, self-discovery, and most importantly love. I loved Marion and all that she was, her character was truly delightful. This book was exactly what I needed right now. While not a holiday book, this one gave me all the warm, feel-good feelings that I love in a holiday read. If you love Beth Moran’s previous works, then you will love this one as well.

This was a dnf for me immediately. The descriptions were weird and almost condescending. Calling fake eyelashes spider legs and the way an older woman was described was just immediately a no for me. I can only imagine how it progressed through the book.

A compelling book that I couldn't put down. It was well written with well developed characters and a story that gripped me right from the start. Parts made me laugh out loud and some had me reaching for the tissues. I loved it.

I really enjoyed this novel! It was much deeper than I expected by the cute cartoon cover. It made me think and laugh and tear up and I really liked it. I haven't read anything by this author before and can't wait to dive into her backlist.

A story of forgiveness, self discovery, and love.

Marion had a rough start in life, losing her father as a child and having a mother that struggled with depression and grief her entire life. She was a selective mute after her father died and still struggles standing up for herself.

One day, she decides to take a break from her life and look into her father's past. She never knew much about his childhood and her mother would never talk about it. She finds herself at a campsite in the countryside, away from her stifling mother, her fiance that is more convenient than passionate, and her life that is holding her down.

The people she meets there, and the woman she allows herself to become, are heartfelt and sweet. When new information comes to light about her father's youth, she can't let it go. But how far will she push to get answers?


I enjoyed the story but struggled a bit with Marion's ability to move on with Jake.
