I really enjoyed this book , it was my first time reading from this author and have to say it won’t be the last time , I really enjoyed the authors writing style.
An highhearted and entertaining read. A fantastic book set in an amazing setting. Looking forward to reading more by this author.
I simply could not finish. The premise intrigued me, but I just didn't vibe with the writing style and couldn't push through.
I love all things UK, so I was so excited to dive into this one! An England based romance that includes the Royal Guard?!? Yall I was so excited! And to be fair, this is a fun little book. The descriptions of their surroundings, their dating, etc was all so much fun! It just went on a bit too long in my opinion. Maybe keeping it novella length? Again, it's not a bad book by any means, just felt like some was more filler than actual storyline. All in all a cute love story for any UK lover!
I received an advanced copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you to NetGalley, Avon Books UK, and Megan Clawson. ❤️
This was okay - the premise was fun, the setting and living on site, the misfortunes were plentisome - but it fell a smidge flat overall.
Quick Summary: A very British romance
My Review: Falling Hard for the Royal Guard by Megan Clawson is a witty contemporary fiction read that is about love, family, and personal growth.
About the Book: A young woman who is socially awkward and desperate for change meets and connects with a royal guard who has a sweet nature despite his initial presentation. Although the two get off to a rough start, they soon progress to more.
My Final Say: This story reminded me of Bridget Jones. It was funny and quirky, but it also had depth and texture. I enjoyed meeting all of the characters, except for the ex and the co workers. He was a real wanker and they were yucky tools.
Other: This made for a great start to my weekend reading sessions. I would definitely recommend it. Readers will be charmed.
* This would make for a great Prime movie. I think it would translate very well.

Sincere appreciation is extended to the author, to the publisher (Avon Books UK | Avon), and to NetGalley. Thank you for the opportunity to review this title. The words I have shared are my own and have been voluntarily submitted.
I received an Advance Reader Copy from the publisher, via NetGalley. This in no way impacted on my view.
After breaking up with her boyfriend, Maggie Moore has returned home, but her dad doesn't live in a normal estate. No, he happens to be a warden at the Tower of London, and lives inside the castle walls. For history lover Maggie, that would be a dream, but her job at the ticket office is mind numbing, her coworkers actively hate her, and she's embarrassed herself in front of the handsome royal guard, Freddie.
I liked this book. There were fantastic moments, and then one in particular which I hated. Maggie was such a likeable character, and her camaraderie with the guards and warden's was great. I liked the chemistry between her and Freddie, though they were very different people. The plot line surrounding Maggie going on 5 dates before she packs it all in was a great way to get Freddie to come to terms with his feelings and finally prove to Maggie he was all in. Such a fun read, and especially one that both history and romance lovers will enjoy.
this book tells you about life in the tower of london along with the love story that unfolds within it how two people are drawn together through different up bringings and how they overcome then through thick and thin and of course one happy ending
I absolutely LOVED this book! As a fan of royal guards and men in uniform, and everything to do with the UK, I ate this book up!
An adorable rom-com for lovers of all things royal! If you liked books like American Royals then Falling Hard for the Royal Guard will surely be your cup of tea...see what I did there :-) Well done!
I have followed Megan Clawson on tiktok for some time and really enjoy the videos she does on history. Her debut novel, "Falling Hard for the Royal Guard," offers readers a charming and modern take on the classic fairy tale romance. Set against the backdrop of London's historic Tower, this rom-com is filled with relatable heroines, swoon-worthy moments, and plenty of royal intrigue.
At the heart of the story is Margaret 'Maggie' Moore, a twenty-six-year-old woman who may live in a castle but has yet to find her own happily ever after. Fed up with the pitfalls of modern dating, Maggie swears off men after a disastrous relationship. However, fate has other plans when she crosses paths with Freddie, a dashing Royal Guard who challenges her resolve.
Clawson's writing is witty and engaging, drawing readers into Maggie's world of Tinder mishaps, near misses, and almost kisses. Maggie is a protagonist who is easy to root for, with her relatable struggles and determination to find true love despite the odds. And Freddie, the hot and aloof book boyfriend, adds an irresistible element of mystery and romance to the story.
What sets "Falling Hard for the Royal Guard" apart is its blend of romance, humour, and royal drama. Clawson seamlessly weaves together elements of modern dating with the timeless allure of royalty, creating a story that feels both fresh and familiar. Fans of "Red, White and Royal Blue" and "The Royal We" will find much to love in this right royal rom-com.
This was such a good book. It was so easy to read and that’s what I look for in a romcom. Very cute. Would definitely recommend
Recently, I had the chance to read an ARC of Megan Clawson's debut novel (it was published last year but I'm a slow reader) and it was so different to what I would normally read! I really enjoyed the historical facts peppered throughout and the twist at the end was so good!
At times it was a tiny bit too prosaic for me but that's just my personal taste! The tension of the slow burn was so intense that I genuinely thought I would cry if Maggie and Freddie didn't get together 😂
All in all, it was a very good read! Thank you to Netgalley, Megan Clawson and Harper Collins for letting me read an ARC version.
Unfortunately I could not get into this book and it took me half a year to finish as it dragged so poorly. Maggie was a tediously boring character that I could not find myself rooting for. Also this book had so much writing that conveyed so little, it felt like nothing important happened to contribute to the “plot.”
Sadly I couldn't get into this.
I went back several times trying to give it a decent shot but it just fell flat for me. Not enough happened to grip me, unfortunately.
This was such a good book. It was so easy to read and that’s what I look for in a romcom. Very cute. Would definitely recommend
i feel so bad about giving this 3 stars. i forgot i read it and am just now posting the review. i read it like 6-8 months ago and now i can't remember anything about it, i didnt extremely love it to actually remember it, and i didn't absolutely hate it either, otherwise i'd have also remembered it. i'll have to reread it sometime and update this review. i feel like it's a good book or i would remember hating it.
thanks netgalley for providing me with an e-arc for this book, i'll reread soon i promise myself haha.
This book SERVED. I absolutely adored it! Its something I've never seen before and to have something so genuine in where the author LIVES in the tower of London, damn girl. Megan came to play.
I was lucky to receive an advance copy of Falling Hard for the Royal Guard by Megan Clawson from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review and opinion. I was so excited to read this book as I love anything set in London and dealing with the Royals. I found this to be really cute, fun read that I read in just a couple of days. I can't wait to read more by Megan Clawson.
Firstly, I love this title! And oh my goodness, the cover! THE ADORABLE LITTLE CORGI!!!!
This slow-burn romance is witty, romantic, original, and intriguing. I found myself pulling for Maggie and Freddie to be one another's happily-ever-after!
Also, the ravens!
If you enjoy Contemporary Romance, I recommend this book!
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for the ARC of this book! All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
