Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for gifting me a copy of this book.
3.5⭐
I enjoyed reading it. It was an easy and fast read and the writing was very fluent.
I enjoyed Tia’s personal story about her work as an aspiring journalist. The book adequately explored challenges that black women confront on the job and in modern dating society. The conversations between characters (Tia and her friends) were fairly relatable, I mean we’ve had these conversations before.
However, the pop culture in this book put me off, not entirely, but a bit.
I’m highly going to recommend this book to readers in their early 20s as it’s very modern and can be appreciated better than I will.

The situationship is a fast read rom-com in the pursuit of love, and career.
I loved the mentor-mentee relationship Tia had at the work place, as well as the friendship dynamics in the book.
The love interests were not exactly as amazing as I had hope for, so that fel abit flat as the only relationship i was rooting for was the one Tua had with her self.
I thought the book had a the lingo down nicely although abit too repetitive and if that had been cut down the book would have been shorter and more coherent. Other than that it was nice read.

An incredible debut!
Such a great concept for a story. I loved that is was not a conventional love story and there was equal representation for Tia's career, her personal growth and her friendships. It felt like an authentic human experience and it was great to read. Rarely is life only about romance so it was nice to see how it fit around the rest of Tia's life.
Very good dialogue and I will be recommending it to all my friends as well as my bookclub!

The Situationship is a great read. It's well written, The story progressed at a good pace and I could really see how Tia (our protagonist) developed as a character. Watching her navigate through relationship and work issues, I shared her triumphs and setbacks. I also had a couple of laugh-out-loud moments. I feel like I know each of the characters and not just the leading roles, but the friends and colleagues as well. The premise works throughout the story. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good rom-com.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Unfortunately, I DNF’d at chapter three, The writing came across as crude and immature. These people are supposed to be adults but act like teenagers throughout. I’m not sure what the message or the story was trying to reach. The writing was also quite basic and repetitive and over explanatory in several places. Just not the one for me.

Firstly, Thank you to Netgalley for my arc copy of this book.
I enjoyed the Situationship, however, In my eyes, this wasn't a romcom. Yes, there is a romantic aspect to the storyline as Tia joins the dating world again but considering she is still single at the end, I would class this as more womans fiction.
My favourite parts of the storyline were centred around Tias workplace. She will be relatable to many as the author has highlighted her struggles as a young black woman trying to find her voice in a large media company.
And I really did love how Tia became someone who knew her worth and stopped wasting her time on people who were going to bring nothing to the table!
If you are in your 20s (as I am sadly not anymore!) You will like this fresh take on all things dating, girl bossing it and how difficult "The talk" can be!

Was so excited to be given the chance to read this book, thank you very much it did not disappoint. Tia is hoping that things could work out with her old friend Aaron but when he returns home with a new girlfriend Tia all but gives up until her friends encourage her to try dating apps where she meets Nate. With changes at work and things going well with Nate looks like things will work out as planned for Tia until Aaron breaks up with his girlfriend and Nate gives Tia reasons to doubt him. Loved reading this book was sad when it ended would love to see what happens next for Tia.

I was really excited about this one but I’ve been reading it for a little while now and I think I’ve just got to admit defeat because I’m really not enjoying it. I try my best not to have books as DNF, especially if they’re an arc but actually, I read books to get enjoyment and I wasn’t enjoying this one.
I think I forget sometimes that I’m 32 and this book is definitely not aimed at me during my housewife season.
I may pick this one up again but I’m only getting older and it’s definitely one for a younger crowd!

I really struggled with this book and DNF. I think it is more suitable for a younger generation than myself though.

I really wanted to like this. But as others have said, I don't think I'm the right demographic. It might hit better for some one younger.

Well first off, it became clear very quickly I was not the intended audience. That said, I felt fairly immersed in the culture being offered through a strong and realistic voice. I enjoyed it to a point, and actually liked the refreshing ending (I’ve read some other more critical reviews). My main criticism was the characters talked about sixth form fairly often and it seemed surprising they were not still this age.

This book was like a breath of fresh air! It successfully revealed the trials and tribulations of modern dating, and how labels have became paramount for loyalty. Tia was an exciting protagonist to follow, very relatable and it was a pleasure to watch her grow with confidence; chipping away at her imposter syndrome. I enjoyed all of the nods to Black British history and icons like Dawn Butler being recognised, I struggled to put this book down!

“But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s to go where you are loved and valued.”
Absolutely love the cover and title. The way the book started was clever because it made you want to know more. Tia and her group of friends seem so real, and genuine. Modern and refreshingly real. The ending made me so happy too
“I’m not begging people to see my worth anymore.”

I feel down by this book because the cover promises an "unputdownable rom-com" but this definitely more accurately described as women's fiction. That was in the NetGalley description so I knew to expect some of it, but rom-com on the cover trumps women's fiction being in the description. Unfortunately, since I feel more at home reading romance this felt somewhat boring to me. The writing style is great, the characters are well fleshed out and feel real, there are maybe a few unnecessary pop culture references, but it's overall a good book, just not a book for me.

This was a lighthearted romance that I believe reflected modern dating well. The setting only added to the good things about this book. I enjoyed the plot, mainly I enjoyed the main character, Tia, and her journey in not only her love life, but work too. This is why I appreciated her choosing herself and her career in the end. I would definitely recommend this to everyone when it comes out and have posted about it through my bookstagram already!

WOW! this was a fiery book and I loved it. Tia was a gorgeous main character and I was rooting for her all the way. I felt that the book was perfectly paced and had me hooked throughout - I couldn't wait to see what happened!! I admired her growth and development throughout the book, it was lovely to see/read! the ending ended the book wonderfully and I can't wait for my friends to read this so I can discuss it with them! I will be looking out for TDR's books in the future!! Thank you negalley for allowing me to read this arc in exchange for an honest review!

I think my take home from this book is that I am too old. There is a lot of London slang, and pop culture references and the characters felt quite young and immature to me. I think a younger audience may get more out of this book than I could. The premise is a good one and the writing is fine, just not the right book for me I think. Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion!

My main takeaway from this novel is that I am about 15 years too old to be reading it! It fizzes along really well (it only took me a couple of plane rides to finish) and the main character is really well drawn, it's clearly based on a lot of the author's personal experience but this adds a lot of authenticity and I was cheering for Tia at the end. The voice also feels really authentic and I think that's something of a rarity. The pop culture references are perhaps a bit overdone and might date quickly and I wanted to shake several of the characters here but it's ultimately a fun read and I think will really speak to its intended audience. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC,

I really wanted to like this book after just reading an article about the concept of a ‘situationship’. , but I really struggled to get into it unfortunately. Thanks NetGalley for the advanced copy.

I know the age of being in your 20’s is to be a bit immature but not to the extent of how the characters are in this novel which was very offputting.
It was too annoying to get into for me personally.
