Is This Ok? explores the complexities of modern-day relationships and the impact of technology on our lives. The book discusses the various ways in which social media and dating apps have changed society as we know it, and how this has affected our own behaviours, and the way we communicate with each other. Gibsone touches upon a wide range of topics, from the pressure to present a curated version of ourselves online to the struggles of maintaining a meaningful connection in an age of endless swiping. It's a really honest account of obsessive behaviour.

I really wanted to like this book, because the subject matter feels very close to my own experience, but I found the writing style quite tired, and by about halfway through, I just wasn't interested anymore. I think it might have worked better as a long read essay, because there were lots of parts that just didn't interest me. The discussion of her health problems was interesting, but overall, it feels like a book which is trying to cover too many things.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC. I would pick this up in a bookshop based on the cover. It is a good read and relatable throughout. I haven’t read anything else by the author but I will keep a look out in the future. I enjoyed this and particularly saw myself in the celebrity obsessions when I was younger!

I was super intrigued by the concept of this book and how the author's connection with the being online has impacted major aspects of her life, from relationship to going through fertility treatment. However, I couldn't say that I loved it. The way it's written, particularly the beginning feels chaotic (perhaps to reflect her teenage experience which makes sense), but I wasn't drawn in the way I wanted to be. Some important and honest conversations in here but the writing style wasn't for me.

I found this tricky at first, mostly because it wasn’t what I was expecting. It reads and is positioned like fiction, but after some Googling (appropriate) I realised it was memoir. Harriet has an amazing, enjoyable and totally relatable voice, I empathised and could even identify with a frightening amount of what she says and feels. Even when dealing with harder topics, Harriet brings this incredible energy and humour. Not the read I expected but clearly the one I needed, IS THIS OK? is brilliant and necessary for anyone forced to live in the digital age.

I found this a difficult book to read. Had comes over as really debased. Why would anyone want to admit to how she's behaved? I've had fleet.ing involvement with The music industry t.throughout my life and yes I've met some with very questionable behaviour, but it's by no means all like that, so that is no excuse for her.

To me this book felt like I was voyourishly reading someone's diaries, undecided whether ithe incidents had actually happened or was her wishful thinking. She certainly seems driven to write about other women's menstrual blood.

I'm reluctant to give this book a rating as I am clearly not part of it's target audience. For me it was distasteful in the extreme, so on that basis I can only give it a grudging two stars.

This started out funny, engaging, sympathetic, relatable and ended up tragic, heart breaking, hopeful, and still funny, engaging, sympathetic and relatable. Harriet brilliantly navigates her life and obsessions with such honesty. I wish her all the best.

A very powerful and gripping story that is difficult to read in some parts but worth sticking with. This is a first for me by the author and one I enjoyed and I would read more of their work.

The E-Book could be improved and more user-friendly, such as links to the chapters, no significant gaps between words some text written has been typed in red and a cover for the book would be better. It is very document-like instead of a book. A star has been deducted because of this.

The book cover is eye-catching and appealing and would spark my interest if in a bookshop. Thank you very much to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

3.5/5.

I can't believe how much this book resonated with me, it was like I was reading my own early teenage diary, learning that there are other people out there who have had obsession over obsession with celebrities for no reason, and then the birthing trauma - again was very similar to my own experience, so much so that I had to put it down for a bit. No one prepares you what happens after you give birth do they!? 10 out of 10 for this roller coaster ride of a novel. Wish I had discovered Harriet sooner.

When I started reading 'Is this OK?' I wasn't at all sure I'd make it to the end. I found the style rather irritating and I wasn't even sure at first if it was fiction or autobiography. Once I'd settled in, and as Harriet got older, I became a lot more interested in her life.

This is a very brave book to have written. Like an alcoholic writing of their worst indulgences or a drug user telling us about their most shameful lows, she tells us about her obsessive behaviour and online stalking of partners and people she fancied. I can imagine there are a few dozen people who will feel very uncomfortable when they find out how much time she was spending bouncing around the internet trying to find out everything about them.

Chris Martin of Coldplay should definitely NOT read this book.

I've seldom seen such extreme soul-bearing and admission of dysfunctional behaviour. It's a bit like watching a slow-motion car crash.

Once Harriet finds her man and discovers she's going through a very early menopause, the tone changes completely. Her honesty about how hard she found being a new mother is shocking and refreshing in equal measure.

I'm glad I don't know her - or perhaps I'm more glad I was never the ex girlfriend of somebody she was obsessed with - but I found the book to be oddly endearing, the deeper I got into it.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers. And 'OMG, what were you thinking of?' to the author.

An honest look at our use of the internet in all its dark places and crevices and how it may not be the saviour we all need

This isn't particularly what I was expecting. Its written in a frantic and chaotic fashion which requires a lot of concentration to process the way the stories flit. Some important and honest conversations in here but the writing style was a tad off putting for me.

Aw this was so good, I loved it. A fabulous and honest account of the evolution of the internet and our ongoing obsession with it. I related to this so much, and I enjoyed it very much. A refreshingly honest and amusing, self deprecatory and poignant book. Highly recommended.

I am really sorry to say I just could not get into this book at all. I really wanted to love it as the synopsis sounded so good, but it just didn't work for me.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this eARC of 'Is This OK?' By Harriet Gibsone.

This book is hard to describe to someone but I enjoyed it. I'd describe it as a gritty memoir, real and heartfelt from Gibsone. She recounts multiple memories of her life and I felt interested every step of the way. Would I read this again? No, but I feel like this story isn't the type of book to read.
