This is an adorable book and we recommend it. It is a sweet story with adorable and colorful illustrations. Read this for Valentine's Day, for sure, but we need love all year and this book is great for any day of the year. I thought I'd like this book and I did, but I enjoyed it even more than I thought. It has a delightful story and wonderful rhymes.
Students liked that the book was about kindness. The illustrations were beautiful. They enjoyed the baking; the cookies and the cake! YUM.
Students did not like that it was so short. Some said it wasn't very interesting.
I thought the illustrations were amazing. A lot of the story is contained in the illustrations and isn't touched on in the words. Depending on the kiddo, parents might need to facilitate more of a conversation with the child to help them see the whole story and not just the food. Without studying the illustrations, a lot of the book is missed and I would argue it's the most important part.
Thanks to netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book doesnt exactly has a plot, it’s just about spreading kindness through things as simple as cookies. Love the illustrations, tho. Very vibrant and nice
Sweet and positive message not only to the young readers, even to the parents.
A pinch of love is enough to keep the spirits rise! The illustration is eye-catching and lovely. The story content and wordings chosen by the author are powerful.
It would be a great read. And im glad to see the Community Center was fixed finally…!
If there was a recipe to make a better day, what would be the special thing you’d along the way?
Love is the key of ingredients. In this book, we will learn to cook something with love. Separate the kindbess to others. With our dish that cook with love, people who is in trouble will smile automatically, people who had problems and sad will have a spirit to live.
Read aloud with your kids and pinch the happiness all around us; family, friends, pets, community etc. The illustration was too beatiful.
I think this author-illustrator duo is really strong together and their books do a great job of showcasing different kinds of love and its role in our everyday lives. I slightly prefer this to their first book, solely for the reason that I love the baking details throughout. The illustrations are a lot of fun with lots of details to find. I do find the rhyming schemes to be a bit uneven in their rhythm, but not so much that I didn't enjoy reading the books.
Wonderful, colorful, bold, and modern illustrations paired with a beautiful, heartfelt story that I think we can really use these days. I love how simplistic it is in its message, and how it showed various kinds of struggles that kindness and love can improve.
A Pinch of Love is a touching and heartfelt book about how a little love can go a long way. I found the narrative wonderful and the art is absolutely beautiful.
*received for free from netgalley for honest review* This was a really cute book, would buy and recommend. Very cute artwork.
A little love never hurt nobody. This was so sweet and such an important book for littles everywhere.
A boy and his grandmother spread love through the community as they bake cookies and share them while they are out and about. But later when they need help they also receive it from a friend. The story culminates in a busy bake sale which raises money for the newly built community centre.
There is so much we love about this book. We love the way that love and baking are intertwined to bring a diverse community of characters together and the way we are left with a warm glow as everybody enjoys caring and company while raising money. We love the way that the cookies bring smiles to various members of the community, the builders, the tired mum, grandpa on his birthday and we love the way that a friend helps when the supermarket shelves are bare. There’s love on every page 🙂
Thank you, Quarto Publishing Group- Frances Lincoln Children’s Books, for the advance reading copy.
This book is all about loving and caring for one another no matter the age and the situation we are in.
I find the illustrations heartfelt and well done. The writing is so good. Lucky are the kids who get to read this book. Luckier are the adults reading this book along with them.
A Pinch of Love is a heartwarming and wonderfully illustrated addition to children’s literature. I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline! The book had the perfect balance of pictures being a part of telling the story and the words crafting the rest. I highly recommend it for your classroom.
This book tells us what a pinch of love can do, in fact the recipe to improve our day is a pinch of love.
This book was a pleasant surprise. With a very important topic for children, what they can do for others, to improve their day.
In addition, it has beautiful designs.
This rhyming picture book uses the idea of a recipe and the phrase "a pinch of" to tell all of the ways that kindness and love can help others. There is also the idea of working together to help the community woven throughout. The font is fairly large and is usually black on a white or beige background, making it accessible. There is also limited text per page and the repetition and rhyming would help young or struggling readers. The illustrations are nice and help tell the story. I would recommend this book to parents and teachers of children in the age 3-7 range. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read and review this book!
This is a gorgeous, riotously colorful, magical book about love and how glorious it is when it is felt and shared and how it can surprise us in many ways. It is a simple book with a HUGE message and anyone who reads it will be reminded of how important love is; both receiving it and giving it. Choosing love and kindness is never, ever, wrong and this book just reinforces that. Really well done.

Thank you Quarto Books and NetGalley for the advanced electronic review copy of this delightful book. This adorable book is written in rhyme and discusses the power of love & friendship. Lovely & vibrant artwork makes the book even better. A great read-aloud or a gift for the holidays, I would recommend this book to anyone.
Heartwarming and uplifting. The rhyme and cadence helped it to be more accessible. Important lessons for SEL and friendships. The imagery of helping was nice. Good conversations could be had based on the text and the pictures.
This was such a sweet book. The illustrations were awesome. I loved the colors- they were vibrant and beautiful! It had a great message and storyline. Overall a great book that I think kids will love.
I was not expecting this sweet story to make my cold adult heart melt and for me to become emotional, BUT IT DID!
All about how a pinch of love (represented throughout the story as a pinch of flower as a child and a loved one prepare baked goods for their community) can go so far and help through a variety of life’s moments, both good and bad.
But what happens when your love feels all out and you feel down in the dumps? Maybe some of those pinches of love you shared will be brought back to you!
I adored this story and cannot wait to add it to my family library and read with my children over and over again!
