Grandma, Grandma, Brave and Tall is a beautifully illustrated that tells the history of one family. It is certain to encourage discussions between children and their grandparents and present opportunities for to explore cultural heritage within the family.

A great book for the classroom or home library, Grandma, Grandma is one I recommend for all children and their adults.

Grandma's are precious. Some people are blessed to have them, while others aren't. This book is a bedtime story told by a grandma to her grandchild. It will make you laugh, smile and cry.

A nested story in verse, as a young Caribbean girl asks her grandmother a bedtime tale about when the older female was young – which turns out to be what her grandmother replied when faced with the same request – which was what was said when the same thing turned up two generations previous to that, and prior to that as well… It's not too bad a way of portraying the power of loved ancestors, and knowing where you come from, but it might have been a little clearer about what it was trying to do – beyond slipping into black and white (and then straight out again) the different time zones could at least have looked different. Three and a half stars.

This lovely children's book includes bright illustrations, a storyline featuring differences, unusual frightening events, as well as new experiences.

I did not know any of my grandparents, and this book affirmed what I potentially missed out on as a child. A grandchild seeks time with a grandmother, asking for stories when she was small. The book shows the differences in grandmothers (I think, I'm not certain I understood this part.). One tucks in the child for bed and says later: the other draws the child in and tells truthful stories, age-appropriate. I was confused and because on paper we all have slots for two grandmothers, I assumed one lived in the Caribbean and a plane ride was involved, while one lived close?

There are work standards mentioned, weather related storms, and uncles leaving. The book packs a lot of punch into the story. I found it heartwarming and touching.

I would recommend, however the list is specific and long. The nontraditional familial dynamics, yours, mine, and now one of our own leaves the subject matter too deep and convoluted for a babysitter.

I thought this was a really sweet story! My daughter loved it because she has a very close relationship with my mom! I loved the vivd details and illustrations! There were a few stops my daughter got very worried at but overall I think it was age appropriate and a definite favorite! Thanks Netgalley for sharing this with me! This is an unbiased review.

This is a lovely story about family history and connections. A little girl asks her grandmother to tell her a story. The grandmother complies and stories told in rhyme ensue; they show the life experiences of the different grandmothers in a charming way. The illustrations are just perfect; at times they are bright and colorful but, in one, when there is a storm, the illustration is appropriately dark.

This is a wonderful book to share with a young child. Hopefully it will inspire the adult to share some stories of their own.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bright Thoughts Publishing for this title. All opinions are my own.
