This is a sweet story with a lovely message - that sometimes it is the little things and the people around you that make Christmas, rather than material gifts.
While heartwarming, I am not sure it would be relatable for everyone. Sarah's Dad is in the military and not everyone will get their wish to have their parent home for Christmas.
However, it is a nice reminder for children that not all kids will get to spend Christmas with their parents and reinforces the story's message.
A sweet story about a little girl and her 5 wishes for Santa. This was a lovely book to read by the Christmas tree with the kiddos. The illustrations are so pretty.
Santa and My Five Wishes by Omotayo Madojutimi - 5/5
Santa and My Five wishes is a tear-jerking story about a little girl, Sarah, and her list of 5 wishes for Santa. We are following along with Sarah as she spends the days leading up to Christmas with her friends, Mom, and making memories. I adore this story and take full advantage of the holiday season to break it out and reread it when I felt we all needed a moment to remember how some Families spend their holidays. As a military family this story brings warmth to my soul and reminds me of the things that go on behind the scenes to make the holidays special for our children. Beautiful story and one I will always recommend.
Thank you NetGalley, Omotayo Madojutimi, and the Publisher for the ARC.
This is an amazing, heartwarming, emotional and sweet children's Christmas book, which would make a perfect gift for any child at this time of the year.
My daughter and I absolutely loved it, and my daughter said that we have to give the book 5 stars! She enjoyed it as her bed time story last night.
The book has really beautiful graphics, and easy to read text.
The story is about a little girl called Sarah who is living at home with her Mum, and over the Christmas season they do a lot of things together and they are close. Sarah has five wishes for Santa, but she can't tell her Mum what they are. When the big day comes, will Sarah get all five of her wishes granted?
This is a wonderful book which has great lessons, one of them being that it is not always material gifts that children want for Christmas. Sometimes it is the simple things in life that are the best gift for them, or the presence of a precious family member.
My daughter and I recommend this book highly, and we both give it a well deserved 5 stars!
Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.
From the beginning, it is very obviously this book is about wanting time with family. Our main character has five Christmas wishes she will not share with anybody but Santa. We see her and her mom progressing about their day and mom gets a call from dad. Dad comes home from the military just in time for Christmas. As a former navy brat, I understand the sentiment behind this book. There were years we spent without my dad at Christmas and with and places with no family and only friends. In general, I like this book but I think it’s niche, it be great at a base library but at the same time for the kids that don’t get dad walking through the door on Christmas Day, it could be sad and heartbreaking. But because it’s one of the only books dealing with it subject, it will probably stay around for a while.
Sarah and her mother are preparing for Christmas. Sarah has already made a list of five things to ask Santa but refuses to share that precious list with anyone... not even her close friends. It's for Santa's ears only.
She is anxious to tell Santa her wishes but unfortunately he is nowhere around! Oh my! Her mother assures her daughter that indeed he will be coming and she will have to be patient until his arrival.
Sarah plays with her friends, drinks hot chocolate and listens to Christmas music while she waits. At long last Christmas Day arrives and Sarah gets the best present ever!
Happily the reader gets a chance to see Sarah's wish list. She reveals that the best Christmas gifts don't have to cost one single penny. Being with family, friends and enjoying the holiday spirit is priceless!
The illustrations are beautifully done and the message embedded within is an important one for both young and old. I highly recommend this heartwarming, sweet book!
Thank you NetGalley and the independent publisher for accepting my request to read and review Santa and My Five Wishes.

This lovely children's book included illustrations that I didn't notice. The story caught my attention and I quickly went through it. Then I went back and read as the author intended. The story is beautifully done, and the illustrations are equally amazing.
There are options given by the author to spend quality fun and teaching times with a child.
I appreciated that the lists were not selfish, and the wishes choked me up; even now I'm teary-eyed.
I do see this giftable to parents, grandparents and relatives. This may be complicated for a babysitter read.
Young Sarah has a wishlist for Christmas, and everything is being ticked off it – except for the return of Santa. She would appear to have no father, either, but lo and behold they both arrive in the form of the same person, because dad was busy being a soldier somewhere important. It seems awkward for a book – any book – to be reviewed only through the reveal of the entire plot, but this is one. It also seems brave and counter-intuitive to do all but admit Santa and one of our parents are one and the same thing, but the clues are definitely here for all the Sarahs of the world to realise. But in proving very well that sometimes it's the things we can't buy, and the love we duly give for free, that is the greatest present, this makes up for many a small flaw. This colourful, simple read is a decent portrayal of that message, and not just kids to those who are serving will find pleasure and reassurance here.
Thank you netgalley for this copy. Santa and my five wishes is such a cute book, not only for kids, but for adults too. We follow along with Sarah as she waits for Santa to come so she can give him her list of 5 wishes. Along the way we spend time with her mother and her friends. This book is a beautiful way to show that not everything a child wants for Christmas is under the tree and the best presents we can give and receive don't cost anything.
This children's festive read is a brightly illustrated one that features a little girl getting ready for Santa's visit.
It's a nice story that perfect for this time of year.
Santa and My Five Wishes by Omotayo Madojutimi is a very cute Christmas story. Cherishing time with family is more important than gifts. The illustrations are nice. I would love to show this book to my granddaughter.
Thank you so much to the independent publisher/ author and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.
Sarah has a list of five wishes for what she wants for Christmas but she can’t find Santa to tell him. But her mom has a secret of her own and keeps helping her through her list.
This was really cute, I loved that Sarah was so excited for Santa and wanted to tell him what was on her list. She didn’t share with anyone what her list was and it was really beautiful at the end learning exactly what it was she had wanted.
I love that this book had a sweet message for enjoying and loving the simpler things that are gifts in your life. None of the children in this book asked for loads of presents and all wanted simpler things that they loved.
The illustrations throughout were really beautiful and I loved looking at them on each page, seeing what Sarah was doing and how she was celebrating Christmas with her mother. A really sweet Christmas book, a sweet message, cute characters and really beautiful illustrations.
