This graphic novel is the most beautiful one I have ever read.
And I do mean that literally, the art is stun-ning.
I loved every panel, every page. The gigantic drawings of the creatures... I was speechless.
They were all so majestic and gorgeous.
Of course I am a cat lady, so the fact that this story is about a gorgeously cute snowcat, is just right up my alley.
I would love for it to be translated (by me? Hehe.) so Dutch speaking children can also enjoy this charming graphic novel.
An absolute recommendation from me.
And I will definitely follow anything this author makes next.
Review by my 12 year old son: “Waouh what a good book!
This was a great story with no loose end and a lot of potential for a sequel!
The characters are very nice, especially the snow cat. I love seeing him go on an adventure.
I really like the characters’ development and how we learn about the history of the snow cats…I thought Kit was very funny and the shape shifting sand foxes are really nice too!
I really loved the art style and find the bonus material at the end very interesting.
I like the snow cats’ designs and the way each one is different, their fur, their ear…The 7 snow foxes each have their personalities and are very unique.
I also really love the architecture of the buildings, the costume designs and the attention to details in general! It was so pretty!
I would definitely buy one copy for myself or a gift and I recommend it for kids and adults all ages! Perfect for readers with a lot of imagination!”
This book is a 5/5 both for the illustrations and storyline! Despite its shortness, I was still able to be invested with what's going on and to our snowcat prince, Syv. His friendship with Kit was so wholesome and I just enjoyed their journey together. I highly recommend!
My 6 year old absolutely loved this book. She adored syv and even was excited to write about the summary in her weekly school reading log. Highly recommended for kids who enjoy a good comic. The art is gorgeous and the characters were very expressive, and the colors are so bright and vivid. This graphic novel will not disappoint young minds!!
Thank you so much NetGalley and Oni Press for this beautiful digital arc!
This story is so beautiful. I absolutely loved the art and all the rich colours used, oh this was a feast for the eyes! I really enjoyed this story, watching how much inner strength Syv gains from the beginning to the end of this book was really touching. I can't wait to handsell this in my bookstore, and to draw the shelf talker!! Already have some ideas :D
The artwork in this is beautiful! I liked the basis for the story but it felt rushed and the ending was somewhat abrupt but overall I liked it.
They're majestic and powerful; the snowcats are beings like no other. In The Snowcat Prince, young Syv is tricked into an adventure to find the snowcat king's crown by his elder brothers. Starting off his harrowing journey, he meets Kit, a strange girl with fiery red hair and an energetic personality. They travel through different landscapes, meeting all sorts of characters along the way. Into a land of foxes, Syv is hindered by a decision that could impact his life forever.
The art immediately drew me in. I absolutely love the styles of the landscapes and the characters. The color palette was pleasing to the eye, and those hints of vibrant reds and purple hues were beautiful. It's a story of growing up and finding who you are. Little cub, Syv is courageous and feisty Kit compliments him. It may have a fast-paced storyline, but I did love it. Made for all ages, The Snowcat Prince is another graphic novel I sure did enjoy. Thank you, Dina Norlund, for a fantastic read!
The artwork in this graphic novel is absolutely stunning. The cats just leap from the page!
It brought to mind the Dragon Prince show on Netflix... it's that epic sort of quest! And it feels both warm and cold at the same time - a bit like experiencing the Northern Lights, I'd imagine.
This book is a gorgeous treat, such a delight! Highly recommend!
3.5
Thanks for the arc NetGalley!
This is a graphic novel that caught my attention because of its cover and it was fantasy in graphic novel format, so I decided to give it a try.
Let's start with the drawing style, and it's just beautiful, exquisite, I loved it. The artstyle of the characters was simply something that captivated my gaze, while the landscapes are not far behind and now I am even more eager to discover the rest of the horizons.
As for the story, I really liked the planting of the pure and corrupted auras. And the characters were what the truth expected.
Now, I expected this book to be more introductory than it was, I was left with a lot of open questions and loose threads, and I felt that in some parts everything happened too fast and that it didn't go into depth (I imagine because of space, but it's because of I hope that it was more introductory and could go deeper into it, although I neglected a bit of the plot, I saw it pertinent in this case), and the characters also felt a bit flat and one-dimensional, but even so I loved them and I hope to read more from them.
In conclusion, it is a nice fantasy story and looking for who you are, which I recommend but as a travel or fun read. It definitely stands out in the drawing which is simply gorgeous.
This was a beautifully illustrated graphic novel about Syv, the youngest of 7 snowcat princes. Syv is looked down on by his siblings and one day is tasked with retrieving the crown from the evil foxes and rid their kingdom of the evil curse wherin the land is plagued with poor soil and endless snow. Unbeknownst by Syv the map is fake but as he heads out he meets Kit who joins him on his journey. As his journey progresses Syv learns things arent as it seems and makes some unlikely frienships.
The art was gorgeous and I adored this story and feel this story would be loved by readers of all ages.

Gorgeous artwork! The fantasy world is fascinating, and the story is goodhearted. Lots of people will love it, I'm sure.
THIS WAS SO FREAKING ADORABLE. The art was freaking gorgeous, the characters were so fun and sweet, the storyline was unique and interesting, and the writing was surreal. Overall, a beautiful story.
This graphic novel will be perfect for kids ages 8-12. I can see a sequel and maybe a movie out of this book. The story is written by Dina Norlund, a Norwegian author. This story translated well.
Syv is the youngest of seven snowcat princes. He's also the very smallest and looked down on by his brothers. Father, the king, has died, and the snowcat princes must choose a new king. Syv is very well-liked by the community, so the brothers decide to send him on a quest to retrieve the crown from the evil foxes and rid the kingdom of the evil curse. They give him a map which turns out to be very fake. Syv sets out, meets a friend, Kit, who accompanies him on his journey. As his journey progresses, he meets many problems and gains the dreaded stripe of shame on his coat. Until - wait - maybe those stripes don't indicate shame. Maybe they mean something else entirely.
The art is gorgeous, with just enough text to convey the story. The text is a bit scary in places, but kids will love the frightening bits, and the story always comes back to be positive again.
It's so amazing to see this project come alive after so much work invested by the author and illustrator on her youtube channel. This is an amazing story with fabulous creature design.
Young Syv is the youngest of snowcat princes and after his father's death, his brothers send him on a journey to find the legendary Eldkin Crown. He goes alone but finds a fabulous companion and friendish will help him to overcome many difficulties. The colors are vibrant and so beautiful.
Knowing the foxes are natural enemies to the snowcats our hero must face these too during his quest. To learn more about his History and himself.
The extra artwork at the end of this book is an amazing add-on.
*Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the free ARC in exchange for my honest review.*
Syv and Kit have my entire heart!!
Syv is a snowcat who also happens to be the youngest in the royal family. His brothers want him out of their home so they create a mission for him that will end in his exile.
I absolutely adored the story and I cannot tell you how much I am in love with this art style. I want this to be a movie. I want stuffed animals. I want art on mugs! I want everything! I haven't felt so in love with a graphic novel since reading The Tea Dragon Society.
A great story about a snowcat on a journey to break a curse.
Syv’s brothers thinks it’s fun to tell Syv that he should go find the long lost crown, in which they don’t think he’ll return and in place one of them will become the next king. What happens when Syv journeys to find this crown, and who does he meet on this journey?
So happy I got the chance to read the translated version of this, because the second time was also great! I love re-reading my five star books, and this one is still amazing. I originally read it in the language it was written in: Norwegian, in 2021 when it was published. Can’t wait for more people to discover this book!
Happy reading!♥️
I got this book for free from netgalley.com in exchange for an honest review.
I LOVED this! The illustrations, the characters, the lore, the setting, all of it combined to make such an interesting and cool story!
I want one of these cats to be my best friend.
Can I just say that this graphic novel is the most adorable thing I've read in a while?! Syv, our young snowcat prince, is such a cute and heartwarming character!
I'm in love with the style of this graphic novel, everything is so magical and I could stare at the drawing for hours.
A gorgeously illustrated, breathtaking story, full of magic and heart. I couldn't have loved this more.
The first thing I would like to point out about his graphic novel is the absolute beauty of it's art. From the lineart to the color selection, it's all so beautiful. I love Syv himself. He not only learned new things, but corrected an unfair history for others. His brothers did not want to. I love his development and decision making. I just wished we got to see a little bit more of his family before the end of the book. I enjoyed this thoroughly.
