Many thanks to NetGalley, Bonnier Books and T.M. Logan for my ARC of 'The Mother' in return for an honest review. I am a huge fan of this author and this is another excellent read.

We begin at a funeral where someone is watching from the wings, unable to make herself known. It is her funeral.

Heather was accused and convicted of her husband, Liam's murder and is out on parole. She is determined to prove her innocence and she is helped along the way by her sister-in-law, another recently released prisoner, Jodie, and a freelance reporter, Owen, who has been trying to get this story since the conviction.

There are twists and turns all the way and the characters are great.

I find myself quite excited to hear a book is on the way from author T.M. Logan.
He writes so well and his stories I find I settle into so quickly.
They carry suspense, drama and so much action. They are fast paced too.
We meet a young woman Heather in this story. Her life and that of her family is turned completely upside down with the death of her husband Liam.
Being the main suspect in his death, Heather is sent to prison.
Upon release a decade later, Heather is determined to try find out who framed her for her husband's death.
She has lost everything including her two boys Theo & Finn so she doesn't feel she has anything left to lose at this moment in time.
With help from the unlikeliest of places she must try to piece together the last few weeks of her husband's life and determine what he was hiding from her.
An edgy read that sure did keep me guessing throughout.
Very well worth your time.

The Mother Tm Logan
I was hooked on the book from page 1. It's a while since a book has kept me up past bedtime, but this one did. I found myself sneaking in a read every chance I got.

Tense, gripping, well written, and kept me guessing right to the end.

I have read many of T.L Logan’ books and as usual they always keep me intrigued and waiting for the other books to come out. An intriguing suspense book that reels you in and will keep you constantly on your toes with the suspense/thrill aspect of the book.

Heather has been released from prison after serving nine years which she was convicted of murdering her husband but has always said that she is innocent. She wants to prove she was falsely convicted of a crime she didn’t commit and find the real murderer whilst hoping she will be able to be back again with her children.

Twists and turns that kept me constantly on my toes and flipping the pages to find out what was happening, I guessed some parts of the books correctly and the ending was something I wasn’t expecting.. I loved it!

Highly recommend. Thank you to NetGalley and Bonnier Books UK for my arc in exchange for an honest review

This book started off well and I liked the whole idea behind it. Unfortunately I felt it just went a bit flat and it was a struggle to continue as there wasn't much happening. I do however enjoy this authors work and it hasn't put me of reading his other books.

Thank you Bonnier Books UK, Zaffre and Netgalley fir this great thriller. I have not read his books for a while and it was so good to read his writing again. I adored the determination of the main character to discover what really happened when her husband was murdered. I felt on the edge all the way. I was quite scocked afterva while in a crime themed thriller. Maybe because I am a mother of also two boys (and a daughter) and have the lovely husband. And can not immagine the devastations. I admired what she went through. We get some missleads but all good. Well done!

TM Logan has done it again, spoiling us with yet another fabulous page-turner that demands to be read in one sitting. Clear your diary, lock the door and switch off your phone, because this is one book you won’t want to put down.

The Mother kicks off with a humdinger of a hook. A woman sitting incognito at the back of a church watching a funeral take place. She longs to comfort the two grieving teenage boys in the front pew. But she can’t reveal herself — because this is her funeral, and they are her sons.

I mean, WHAT?!

Cut to the twisty, compelling story of Heather Vernon and her desperate fight to clear her name after being convicted of the murder of her husband, Liam. Now out on parole, she is determined to prove her innocence, reclaim her life, and mend the fractured relationship with her two sons. To do so, she will need help, but who can she trust?

Logan loves a first-person narrative, and this one is crafted to perfection. Heather’s anguish, anger and frustration are palpable, and I was immediately on side. She knows she was framed, but by whom and why? Plus, ten years have passed, making it virtually impossible to get to the truth. The lengths Heather goes to and the risks she takes are extraordinary but fully credible. She’s doing what any mother would do for her children.

As expected, the plot is razor sharp and twisty, easily the most complex that Logan has written. Weighted with copious amounts of misdirection, it confounds and thrills in equal measure. That said, it never gets so complicated that you lose track. Logan is masterful at keeping you close, with writing that is fluid and easy to follow. It is beautifully paced and builds to a firecracker of a conclusion.

Logan’s best book to date. I have everything crossed that a TV adaptation is on the cards.

I absolutely loved this book! I was hooked immediately and I read it so quickly. I have no idea how the author thinks up these incredible plots but they just get better and better. They are so gripping and this one was very exciting. The characters were amazingly written in this book as well!!

The storyline was so intricate and well planned out. The truth doesn’t come out until the very end, there’s a lot of suspense about what could have happened but I could never have imagined what actually happened. This book continued to keep me guessing and it had me doubting every character in some way. I love how unique these plots are, they are all page turners. This book started on a cliffhanger which made it even more exciting, I was waiting until the point it all fell together.

Heather, the main character, was such a strong and determined character. Everything that she has been through and has to go through in this book is incredible. We read in her perspective from the past chapters when she is discovering her husband’s body and then we read in her perspective in the present day when she has just been released from prison. Despite everything that happened to her, she still fights and keeps herself motivated to getting what she wants.

This book had me picking it up whenever I had a spare five minutes because I was so eager to know more about the plot and the characters. Also with the book having shorter chapters, it made me feel l like I was reading a lot in a short amount of time. I was sad when it ended because this plot was so intricate, but it was a very satisfying ending. I will always highly recommend this author and his books, they are all incredible!

➡️ Did I like the book?

Does it come as a surprise if my answer is yes? I always rely on T.M. Logan for a gripping read. I know my tea will get cold on the table, my snack will remain in my hand, frozen on its way to my mouth, and I’ll have at least three missed calls and a dozen texts. Was it the case this time around? Absolutely!

➡️ Did I enjoy reading it?

Mothers are a big subject. The trendy thing around in crime fiction. A mother’s love knows no limits, blah blah. Sometimes it works for me, when the author manages to throw in enough meat to grab my attention. Sometimes it fails because every chapter feels like a monologue about how women should all be mothers and there’s no better or bigger role in life.

Here, I can only thank the author for a full three-course meal with extra gravy and the best dessert. No sermon, no extra cheesy motherly love. Instead, I got a brilliantly strong story about a night that destroyed an entire family, a resilient and fascinating main character, the raw side of life, and so much more. In a nutshell, yes, I have enjoyed reading The Mother!

➡️ What did I feel?

Overjoyed… at a funeral. Yep, you read that right. I am not spoiling anything as the blurb does tell you the novel begins with such an event. I know no one should be overjoyed to attend a funeral. I know! I am not a monster! But T.L. Logan offers such a clever starting point that I couldn’t contain my excitement. The urge for answers was trumped by the enthusiasm to dive into the journey leading to this church.

Heather, Liam and their two little boys were living the good life. Adorable kids, a working mom, a MP dad, a lovely aunt to babysit. Most people’s take on a great deal. Until Liam is discovered cold dead and Heather sent to jail for his murder while their children are shipped to be raised by the grandparents. Wait, what???

Forward nine years and Heather is out of jail on parole, alone, with no rights to see her own kids, and still in the dark about the night everything changed for her family.

My brain went into crazy mode. I had the best time coming up with scary, crazy, far-fetched, what-the-hell scenarios to try and make sense of the little clues I was able to gather along the reading.

You may think “oh, another slow burner puzzle” Hahahahahahahaha! No. If getting out of jail wasn’t difficult enough, Heather soon discovers that her need for answers comes with danger. Lots of it. Mountains of it.

I truly enjoyed the blend of adrenaline and questions, the feeling of not being able to trust anyone, the doubts creeping in so often I thought the world was too big a jungle for me, and Heather!

Heather is a wonderful character to follow. Her wants are simple: discover who murdered her husband and get her sons back. I was grateful to be spared the mother love rave, the overflowing of feelings and the lamentations. T.M. Logan didn’t need to get Heather to say she loved her sons more than anything. He didn’t say, he showed. And the dosage was perfect. It allowed me to understand Heather, to care about her, to try and relate to her. It is one of the best gifts you can get from a book, this bond with characters.

The ending could have gone a million ways, but the chosen was did not disappoint. I was absolutely captivated until the end, and quite horrified!

➡️ How would I describe it?

Enthralling, twisty

➡️ Verdict 4,5 stars rounded up to 5

A woman attends a funeral, standing in the shadows and watching in agony as her sons grieve. But she is unable to comfort them - or reveal her secret. A decade earlier, Heather gets her children ready for bed and awaits the return of her husband, Liam, little realising that this is the last night they will spend together as a family. Because tomorrow, she will be accused of Liam's murder.

After spending ten years in prison for a murder she did not commit, Heather is determined to find out who had killed her husband. This is a thrilling read and I was quickly invested in this story. The pace is fast with plenty of twists. The characters are believable. There's so much I could tell you about this book, but I can't as it would spoil the book for potential readers.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #BonnierBooksUK #Zaffre and the author #TMLogan for my ARC of #TheMother in exchange for an honest review.

A pacy thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very end.
Heather has been released from prison after serving ten years for the murder of her husband. She knows she didn't kill him but who did?
Heather wants to clear her name and get her two sons back but others have different ideas.
It's a cat and mouse game where Heather is trying to keep ahead of her enemies.
Is everyone as they seem?
I like the steely determination of Heather who would do anything to get her boys back.
Sidekick Jodie is another great character with backbone.
I was a bit disappointed with the ending. I thought it was a bit implausible.
Nevertheless another great read by Logan.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bonnier Books/Zaffire for the ARC in return for an honest review.

Heather has served half her sentence for the murder of her husband and is released on probation. She hasn’t seen her children for ten years but her late husband’s family won’t let her near them and want her to move away.

Heather is determined to prove her innocence but at what cost? How can she keep those she loves safe and find out the truth?

This is the first book that I have read by the author and I ended up pulling an all nighter as I had to know the outcome!

The story flicks between two timelines, now and ten years ago when Heather’s whole world changed.

The conclusion of the story wowed me and left me gobsmacked. This is a story that I would highly recommend.

My thanks to Bonnier Book U.K, Zaffre & NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.

When I pick up a T. M. Logan book, I know I’m in for a treat his books are fast-paced, gripping, and tense, and after reading The Mother I’m thrilled to report this is his best thriller yet, and yes I have read them all! I read so many thrillers I need a well thought out opening to keep me hooked. It’s got to be one that offers a hint of the mystery that lies ahead. It has to have intrigue and the shock factor! So kudos to the author for including all my ‘must haves’.

I appreciate how the author puts what appear to be ‘normal families’ into ‘extraordinary’ situations that make you think, ‘what would I do if I found myself in the same situation?’ Heather Vernon is accused of killing her husband, but she has always claimed she is innocent. After spending 10 years in prison, she is out on probation. She has to stay away from her family, her two sons and anyone connected with the case. Heather is determined to prove her innocence and bring the actual killer to justice, and to get her children back.

The plot switches confidently between Heather’s past and present. Shifting between the two timelines keeps the tension flowing and those all important pages turning. The narrative deftly builds on the paranoia and distrust. It makes for a much more enjoyable read when an author doesn’t make it too obvious to the who? And why? The Mother is a tightly woven, binge-worthy thriller that twists and turns like the proverbial roller coaster. I’m positive this book is going to be a HUGE hit with old and new fans of T. M. Logan. Highly recommended.

T. M Logan is the master of the tightly plotted domestic thriller, and this latest offering has to be my favourite to date. Confident, mysterious, and so well structured, the plotting and characters are noteworthy in their depth and originality and together will take you on a rollercoaster of a ride to a conclusion that you will not see coming. A highly deserved five stars.

I always enjoy this authors books but this one was exceptional. I couldn’t put it down. It was completely engrossing from start to finish. Written in the first person, in the present and 10 years earlier, from the POV of the main protagonist, Heather, ‘the mother’ it was a fast paced and emotional read. You can imagine my joy at seeing the small market town I live in mentioned, Thornbury, and as I also knew many of the rest of the places mentioned in Bristol and Bath I was completely immersed in the plot, walking or driving the streets with Heather.

Briefly, 10 years ago Heather is accused and convicted of murdering her MP husband Liam but she has always maintained her innocence. Let out early on licence she is determined to find the true killer and regain access to her two boys who have been raised by Liam’s parents. Aided by a mixed bag of people, another ex-con, a disgraced journalist and her sister in law she soon finds that someone is determined to stop their investigations.

Some great characters and a brilliantly twisted plot kept me up late into the night reading this. This is tense and at times a dark read, full of suspense and the author has excelled with the sense of paranoia making it difficult to know just who you can trust. The ending was just shocking, I had no idea who was behind everything, just unbelievable! A really good and exciting read that had me on the edge of my seat throughout. Brilliant.

Thanks to Netgalley and Zaffre for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Heather has just been released from prison after serving 9 years of an 18 year sentence for killing her husband, a member of Parliament.. She maintains that she is innocent and sets out to clear her name. Working with Owen, a journalist whose career was ruined when he tried to prove Heather was innocent, they set out to find evidence of what Heather's husband was involved in that led to his death.

I believe I have read all of this author's books and this was certainly one of his best. I really enjoyed it and read it in just over a day. The story was fast paced and there was enough new information turning up that I never got bored. I was invested in finding out what had really happened and I didn't see the ending coming. Really good. Looking forward to his next book.

Helen and Liam live in a suburban house with their two young Sons. Liam is an MP and the pressure put on his marriage due to his work is obvious. One night after an argument Liam decides to sleep on the sofa whilst Helen goes to bed. Early the next morning their sons wake Helen up with a grim discovery.

Skip forward nine years and Helen is released from prison on licence, for a crime that she didn’t commit. She has lost everything and vows to do whatever it takes to clear her name and get her children back. In doing this Helen has to revisit her past and put her own life in grave danger. She meets acquaintances from the past as well as teaming up with new friends in a bid to get to the truth.

This book is cleverly written, skipping seamlessly between the then and now. It’s gripping, fast-paced and totally absorbing. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this amazing book and found it REALLY hard to put down. With some amazing twists entwined into the plot, the ending of this book will blow your socks right off.

The Mother is another great read from TM Logan. It was fast paced and had plenty of twists that I did not see coming, especially the one at the end which hit me like a ton of bricks. I have read all of TM Logan's books and while I would not say this was my favourite I would definitely recommend it along with all his other books as they have a distinct style to them which I absolutely love.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bonnier Books UK for my ARC.

Heather has just been released from prison after being framed for a murder that she did not commit. Heather is determined to go back over the case of her murdered husband and find out who his killer was. She wants justice for her husband and will stop at nothing to find out who killed hun. She also wants nothing more than to be reunited with her 2 sons however the conditions of her bail prevent her from having any contact at all with them or any of her husband relatives.

Things soon become more complicated for Heather as it becomes clear that someone out there will stop at nothing and go to extreme lengths to stop her from uncovering the truth. Alone and with only a couple of people willing to help her, Heather soon begins to wonder if she can trust the help around her and asks herself if she is better off going it alone.

What I loved about this book was it got going right from the start, it began and ended in a way I didn’t expect, there were plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing from start to finish, I thought the characters were great and I loved the plot.

This was my first book by T.M Logan although I have a few on my shelf which I now cannot wait to get stuck into. Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an open and honest review.

Well, this certainly kept me gripped, page turning deep into the night. Great characters and a very intriguing plot. You won’t know who to trust (except the puppy, I loved the puppy). As well as the mystery, this is a great description of how someone’s life can just fall apart. Loved it!
