Really enjoyed this book, Louise is queen of suspense and keeping you guessing. Brilliant style of writing. Loved the switch between characters.

Whilst overall I enjoyed The Fall with it's psychological twists and turns it's not the best book I've read. I feel it was too long, too full of red herrings (although I did work out who pushed Caily about halfway through, I just had no idea what their motive might be) I didn't enjoy the forced suspense of nearly every chapter ending on a cliffhanger either.
It is definitely a book of it's time with the cost of living crisis being behind so much of the story and I did like the allusions to the warmth of a close, loving family but at times it was sugar coated to excess.
I received my Kindle copy of this book from Netgalley in return for an honest review and sadly, the fact that my copy wasn't formatted correctly so it had huge insertions on many pages and missing text turning up out of sequence didn't help my enjoyment, but I think the fact that I read through all of that says a lot about the actual story and the hold it did have over me.

Kate and Beth are identical twins whose daughters are the same age and every bit as close as the sisters are. What happens to Caily has tensions running high as Kate and Beth both do whatever it takes to protect their daughters which at times puts their own relationship at risk.
There are all sorts of pressures closing in on this family. Not only do they have the worry of Caily in the aftermath of her fall but there is also the added pressure of living on a farm of which the author does a great job in highlighting issues that farmers have been facing over the last so many years and it will make the reader sit back and think as well as how important it is to support the farming industry.
There was never a dull moment in this book. I don’t think I have ever been so much on edge as I was questioning everyone’s intentions in my head and rushing ahead in my mind thinking I had it all worked out only to have gotten it wrong. I felt bad at times that I had thought badly of certain characters but the author throws lots of red herrings so it throws you off guard.
The Fall is a story that had me wanting to race through it’s pages yet also take my time and enjoy the journey to that all important climax. Parts of the novel I found informative whilst one particular storyline was heartbreaking to read. Packed full of secrets, this was one highly addictive psychological thriller of which I think it’s the author’s best one yet. Not one to start on a nighttime as once you start it, you won’t want to stop!

Sorry this book wasn't for me, I usually enjoy books from this author but sadly not this one. I found it hard to get into the storyline and it didn't help having the publisher keep being advertised throughout, just put me off unfortunately.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC, just sorry it wasn't for me.

Full of suspense, twists and turns that you can’t see coming plus the odd sub plot this makes for an exciting read.
The main characters are Beth and Kate who are twins just turned forty, each have a daughter. They are very close but following a fall by one of the girls, Cailey everyone seems to know more than they are letting on.
A fun read!

I loved this book, it had me gripped from the off and I couldn't wait to see how the story unfolded and who was responsible and more importantly why? At one point I had everyone in the frame - but as the story unfolded it soon became clear that the people I was thinking about could not be responsible. Did I see it coming? No! Well written and I couldn't read it quick enough.

This is an excellent story of a family split apart by and accident, or was it an accident? I've not come across this author's work before, but here she weaves a really gripping story with lots of twists and turns and even some red herrings. It's like an onion in that practically every Chapter brings new dimensions to the story. It's good through the eyes of the main characters, each giving a different viewpoint, and is a book that is very hard to put down. I thoroughly recommend it.

I'm a huge fan of Louise Jensen and have loved all of her previous novels but sadly this new one just didn't fully work for me. I found the characters and the family dynamics interesting and intriguing - particularly the relationships between the twin sisters and their two daughters so that kept me reading. Unfortunately the way the novel was written quickly grew irritating to me and it brought me out of the story too often - I don't understand why every chapter had to end with a thought or a sentence and then the next chapter, by a different character, echoed the same thought. Once in a while this is effective but in every single chapter it just got tiring. All in all I have mixed feelings about this one but it could well be the case of it being me and not the book. I'll still be eagerly anticipating whatever Louise publishes next.

The Fall by Louise Jensen is an interesting and twisty tale of family secrets following two 40 year old twins and their daughters.
When Caily ends up in the ICU following a fall from a bridge, her family are torn apart by secrets and lies. While there is worry that Caily may never be the same again, they really should be wondering if the family will be the same again.
I honestly enjoyed this book although at times the plot was too convenient and unrealistic. However the twists were unexpected and there was an ending that you would never expect.
To me this was a mystery that reminded me of sitting in front of the tell watching a low stakes crime show or thriller on ITV. This is something I love and would generally be a 5 star read but I couldn’t bring myself to rate it so highly when there were no consequences for some of the characters and there were still plot holes that weren’t really tied up properly or where just conveniently resolved with no consequences.

Thanks to Louise and NetGalley for allowing me to read The Fall before the publication date.
There are 3 generations at Marsh Farm. Each has their own secrets.
The elders, Patrick and Mary have health issues, leaving Kate’s husband, Matt, to run the farm.
Times are hard and Matt is feeling the pressure. When 25 year old Travis arrives at the farm asking for work, Mary convinces Matt that he should take him on.
Matt and Kate’s 15 year old daughter, Caily, is struggling to cope with being bullied at school. When she sets eyes on Travis, she is smitten.
Meanwhile Kate’s twin sister, Beth, is bringing up her daughter, Tegan, alone as her husband Sean is in prison. Having lost her job during the pandemic, she struggled financially and is now at the mercy of a loan shark.
When Caily is found unconscious, she is rushed into the ICU and placed in a coma.
Footage of Caily and Tegan in a heated argument appears and the finger of suspicion points at Tegan.
Caily cannot talk and Tegan will not talk.
As the story unwinds, secrets and lies are exposed.
Can the twin sisters who have always been so close manage to set aside their differences to protect both of their families?

Told from the point of view of all the different characters this book is a great fast paced twisty read. Just when you think you’ve worked out the plot there’s another twist.
Highly recommended and I would look for other books by this author after reading this one.

So, this was a mixed bag - I didn't love the first half of the book and found it a little slow, but really enjoyed the second half and it really kept me reading and It felt all was not as it seemed. Enjoyed this and definitely will appeal to fans of thrillers.

This is the story of Kate and Beth, identical twins and their family, struggling to make a living. Then life changes when Kate’s teenage daughter is found in a coma, after a fall from a bridge on the farm. Was it an accident, was it attempted murder?
I could not put this book down, the twists and turns were very clever and plenty full, I never knew what would happen next and if I would be lead down a dead end. Well done Louise Jensen, I’ll be looking out for more books from you.

A fast page read with plenty twists and turns. This will not disappoint, Great for a stormy night. Secrets lies and an excellent plot! Get reading

Certainly kept me on my toes with one twist after another.
An excellent, well thought out plot with interesting, colourful characters.
The edit on the advanced copy I received was horrendous and completely interrupted the pace of my reading on nearly every page which was so annoying. I haven't marked it down as that's not the author's fault but many may.

Twins Kate and Beth have just celebrated their 40th birthday with a party when Kate’s daughter Caily is found unconscious under a bridge. When it becomes clear she was pushed, things turn dark and family secrets emerge. Was her cousin Teagan somehow involved? A very involving psychological thriller.

Terrifyingly thrilling. It’s full of twists and turns and I defy you to guess the ending. Brilliant read and I’ll be reading more by Louise Jensen.

A thrilling read, with lots of twists and turns especially towards the end of the story. The hidden secrets across the different characters in this story make it very interesting and make you ask yourself: Who is telling that truth? Who is hiding something? What does each character want? I also liked that the story touched on issues in the world today such as Covid and the cost of living, and what people will do when faced with difficult situations. A few small mistakes such as ages in the story, and at times, I felt the story could be shortened to engage the reader further. Overall, an interesting story with everyone’s own stories woven together and tied up neatly at the end.
Thank you you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for the ARC for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.

Yet another great book for Louise Jensen. This was a truly psychological story where nothing was what was expected. Such twists and false leads that were so plausible. The idea of twins and their daughters made a lovely cosy but horrific story as well. I simply adored it and did not correctly resolve the case of Ciara and how she fell into the river, landing up in a coma.
Great read.

Thank you for the opportunity to read this advanced copy of The Fall by Louise Jensen. I had mixed feelings about this book. I felt it was slightly preposterous at times, especially towards the end with the revelation of who was responsible for Caily’s ‘fall’. I just couldn’t warm to the characters either. A shame as I have enjoyed her previous books.
