The Fall is a well-paced thriller following the lives of members of one family where their various secrets and troubles unravel alongside each other. The story pulls in the reader from the first page, as twin sisters Beth and Kate are led to their 40th birthday celebrations.
It's clear from the start that Kate certainly is uncomfortable, and obviously it isn't immediately clear why. The sisters end up relaxing. But there's something wrong with their parents too, who seem uncomfortable. And various other oddities make the reader wonder what's going on beneath the surface.
There are LOTS of twists to this story, and Jensen writes things in such a way to give the reader a certain impression of what's going on, only to show they've got completely the wrong impression some pages later. This makes for a good read, although after a while there's a slight risk that you know what she's doing and so are looking out for the 'false' narratives.
I especially liked the bits that involved the twins' teenage daughters. The descriptions of the pressures they face at school and with friends, and how family life looks in their eyes, I thought was very strong. One of the girls, Cailey, is in a coma after apparently falling from a bridge, but we don't know if she was pushed and if so, who by. The mystery of this leads to various secrets from a number of family members coming to the surface.
I also quite liked the fact that, without giving too much away, Jensen sets up some potentially nasty things in certain characters and then shows how people have ended up with a mistaken impression of them, and they aren't at all as bad as you may have imagined. I found this quite heartening.
Some of the chapters are very, very short - meaning we end up with over 100 chapters! This can feel strange given that it's not very common, although maybe it adds to a sense of pace and urgency.
The Fall is a very easy read and definitely has enough going on to keep the reader's interest to the end.

Thank goodness for the bin between identical twins Kate and Beth. Living on a farm has its hazards and not only do the twins encounter these as children and adults but so do their own children Caily and Tegan. Is it the ever increasing debt, the illness of the twins parents or the secrets that have been kept over the years that makes this thriller full of twists and turns.
A really enjoyable read about growing up in a farm, childhood sweethearts and the desire to become the best.

A story of family ties being tested to the limit after a serious fall puts a teenage girl into a coma. The families base is a failing isolated farm and in the aftermath of the fall secrets slowly emerge which test the strength of the family bonds to breaking point. There are many twists and turns throughout the book before the final and quite shocking ending.A book which kept my interest going from page one .

I enjoyed this book. Well written with a great cast of characters. Lots of twists and turns. Highly recommended by me!

Not my favourite book. Nothing wrong with it at all, it was just not for me - sorry! Will definitely try a different book by this author though

This was a very addictive book, twisty and thrilling. I suspected most of the characters in this book and was surprised at the ending. I enjoyed this one immensely and look forward to reading more by Louise in the future. My thanks to netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

I feel like twins are a very good creepy topic at the moment and with these two knowing what each other was thinking just added to that. Overall I feel like you can’t go wrong with a Louise Jensen book, they’re always solid psychological thrillers. I love family drama and family secrets it really makes you feel immersed and like you yourself could be involved in it all, good read. You just can’t go wrong!

I've been a fan of Louise Jenson's writing style for some time now, and although 'The Fall' wasn't my favourite of her works, it was still quite enjoyable.
The intricate family dynamics and the suspenseful storyline kept me guessing throughout the read, and I found myself thinking I had it all figured out at various points. However, I was pleasantly surprised to be proven wrong, and the revelation of secrets was truly shocking. All the characters were expertly created.
I highly recommend this book if you're a fan of psychological thrillers and looking for some escapism.

I got that claustrophic feeling when reading this book. A book all about secrets. What I loved about this book was that is was unpredictable. So many twists and turns. Great read.

An excellent thriller, the tension building up marvellously until the reveal. The plot was packed with happenings and it was compelling. Believable characters had depth and I had to know where the book was leading; the various theories I had I kept being blown apart. Very highly recommended.

Great characters, a twisty plot, and well-written. Another page-turner from one of my favourite authors.

Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.
Kate is turning 40 and feels very lucky as she celebrates her birthday at a surprise party with her friends and family. Hours later her life changes forever when her daughter Caily is discovered unconscious under a bridge when she should have been at school, Caily is in a coma and the police are struggling to find out what happened but don’t believe it was an accident. As the investigation continues it becomes clear that everyone in her family were not where they said they were. Someone doesn’t want Caily to wake up, will she be safe in the hospital or will someone take action to prevent the truth getting out.

Absolutely love this author and another brilliant thriller non stop from beginning to end.It keeps you guessing till the very end to who actually did push Caily and more importantly why....

Ive read a couple of books by Louise jenson and each one was better than the last and this is no exception! The story is pacey with lots of twists and turns that make you second guess yourself and what u think is happening.

This is an enjoyable page turner about a fifteen year old who is found at the bottom of some stairs at her mother's surprise 40th birthday party.
What follows is a tale full of red herrings and is a well written, easy to read, thriller. A family that appears tight knit, has it's secrets and much is uncovered in this multi-layered storyline. The chapters are short which creates pace and unpredictable. A cracking holiday read.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to preview in exchange for this honest review.

This book follows identical twins Kate and Beth and their families and the secrets that they hold. The day after Kate and Beth’s surprise fortieth birthday party, Kate’s fifteen year old daughter, Caily, has been found unconscious underneath a bridge and is in a coma. Did she fall, or was she pushed?
This was so full of secrets and twists and turns there’s honestly not a dull moment. All of the characters in here have secrets and it switches between different perspectives which I always like in books. I thought I knew what was going on but the end shocked me and the possibility hadn’t even crossed my mind, so it really was a good plot twist!
The characters were all extremely well written and interesting and there was constant drama and always something happening. This was a really good thriller!
Thank you so much to Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A first for me with this author and I don’t think it will be my last. A well written storyline that had pace and twists and turns galore. Just as I thought I knew where the plot was going, not a chance, a side swipe that I didn’t see coming at all.

A gripping page turner from one of the best writers of this genre.
Kate and Beth are as close as you would expect twins to be. But when Caily, Kates daughter, is found with life-threatening injuries when she should be with Beth's daughter, Tegan, the cracks begin to show. Soon, they find themselves lost in a world of secrets, recriminations, and deadly lies.
This is a bit of a slow starter, but believe me, it's worth sticking with it. It didn't go where I thought it would other than me working out a link in the very early stages. The perils of reading so many thrillers! But it's a fab read as always from Louise Jensen.

I found this book to be a good read in part but not all of it. Because the characters were so similar it took a while to remember who was who. I also wasn't a big fan of the ending as it too nicely tied up all the loose ends. I would recommend this book as a light easy read but not one of my personal favourites.

I enjoyed this book! There were a few twists and turns and although very far fetched at times was an easy enjoyable listen.
