Caily and Tegan are cousins and best friends. They come from a tight-knit farming family. However when Caily falls from a bridge secrets come to light, secrets that can tear a family apart.

I was hooked by this book very quickly and there were plenty of questions raised that kept my interest. However I did feel that at some point there were just too many threads and I started to lose the grasp of what was going on. There was also too much reflection and discussion of inner thoughts which tended to drag - particularly from Mary towards the end. With a more succinct ending this would have been an excellent thriller.

3.5⭐️

I’ve read and loved a couple of the authors other books, so was keen to read the latest release.

Twin sisters Kate and Beth are close they have just celebrated their 40th birthdays. Their daughters Caily and Tegan are also very close. Caily ends up in a coma following an accident.
Kate and Matt’s fear over Caily is palpable.
Beth is a single mom to Tegan.

The story is told from several pov, the present and 3 months earlier.

The emotional angst of Caily’s injury initially gave a gripping start, then I felt that the pace took a nose dive with nothing really happening for quite awhile, but it started to pick up again. It’s a slower burn building up to the big reveals at the end, which isn’t my preferred plot device.

I found the main characters likeable enough. I wanted a good outcome for them, but I found some of the outcomes a bit predictable.
I like the inclusion of book club questions, more authors are utilising them.
Overall I enjoyed it, but it’s not my favourite by this author. I think it’s too long and would be better trimmed down.

This book is full of twists and turns to the last page. Difficult to put down.
Kate and Beth are twins and each have a daughter. Then the unimaginable happens and the families are torn apart.
There are secrets and lies but at the core of it all is the family?
Can their close unit survive and at what cost?

I've been meaning to read this author for ages and I'm so glad a finally did but annoyed I didn't do it sooner as I absolutely loved this! In the reader letter at the end Louise Jensen said she wanted to take an ordinary family, put them in a desperate situation and then throw them an illegal lifeline. Which she did but ultimately its about (family) love and how you can do crazy out-of- character things to try and protect those you love plus what those you love can forgive. I loved the characters, the story, the dilemmas and the intrigue. I also loved that I didn't forsee the big twist at all.  I'll definitely be seeking out more by this author.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this amazing book. I devoured it in one day. It's an intense page turner that is very hard to put down. Loved to Fonts of the short chapters and the cliffhangers at the end on many chapters. It's a story about family dynamics, family secrets and most of all family love. So many twists, if's and occasional tears. The pages seemed to turn by themselves and led to a most satisfying conclusion. I highly recommend this wonderful book.

Thanks net galley for this book, I read it not expecting such a good read and really enjoyed.
The story started with the twins birthday party Kate and Beth prepared by their parents.
A wonderful party for them but underneath there was lots of secrets and it nearly broke the family up.
It could have done but the saying goes blood is thicker than water .

I had difficulty reading this arc due to the formatting and inconsistent font irregularities. At some stage, I will read the novel in a different format.

Kate and Beth are twins. The do almost everything together and at their 40th Birthday party Kate feels so happy and lucky. Hours later her only child Caily is found unconscious underneath a bridge when she should have been at school rehearsing for the musical that’s she’s the lead role in.

Now, Caily is in a coma and the police don’t believe it was an accident. The investigation progresses and not everyone in the family was where they claimed to be at the time of her fall.

Caily should be safe in the hospital but not everyone wants her to pull through. Someone is trying to protect the truth and it isn’t just Caily that is in danger.

This had me gripped from the start. The suspect in my mind changed in every chapter that I read. I was convinced I’d guessed who it was but then another twist and I changed my mind again and again. When it was finally revealed I was shocked but then boom it took another turn. Rollercoaster of a thriller and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I am very much partial to a Louise Jensen psychological thriller and I was thrilled to be given access to an ARC of her newest book.

This book was a solid 4 star read for me until I neared the end where everything fell in a predictable heap. While a few questionable situations occurred that scored highly on the more eyebrow-raising scale, I was thoroughly enjoying the story - the author is gifted in the way of making you want to keep turning those pages. However I was disappointed when the conclusions to multiple threads of the plot were ended very conveniently and without any of the drama of the earlier parts of the story.

I have seen some comments from fellow reviewers who didn’t rate the author echoing the last line of the previous chapter at the beginning of the next chapter but I really liked that aspect - it was maybe slightly overdone but nevertheless I thought it was catchy.

You can’t deny that there is a LOT going on in The Fall and for me it was an entertaining ride up until the last few chapters where it plateaued.

Thanks to HQ and Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A close loving family. Inseparable twin daughters each with their own daughter. Ties that are stronger than the rough and tumble of everyday life;all confident that nothing will ever breach or break the family circle. Then the unthinkable occurs when one of the children is found unconscious an incident the police believe to be under suspicious circumstances . There then follows a gradual revealing of three generations of secrets, lies and deception under the guise of protecting the family whilst a young teenager lies in a coma, her survival and the police unmasking the perpetrator dependant on a tangled web that risks the credibility of every family member. A hugely convoluted mystery that unmasks the subterfuge of everyone involved with a dramatic conclusion . Many thanks to author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

The Fall is another twisty dose of psychological suspense from Louise Jensen and it focuses on family life and don’t we all know just how dark and toxic that can be, even though from the outside everything might appear perfect.
When twins, Beth and Kate, celebrate their 40th birthday they have no idea that their lives are about to be turned upside down when Kate’s daughter, Caily is found unconscious at the bottom of a bridge and the once close family finds itself torn apart as secrets are uncovered one by one and soon there is nobody left to trust.
Louise Jensen also addresses some quite topical issues in this novel including the aftermath of Covid, the cost of living crisis, social media trolling and bullying, the harsh realities of farming life and families living with dementia, which makes it both relevant as well as thought provoking and poignant in places. It makes it easy to connect and engage with the characters as you can place yourself firmly in their shoes.
As usual with a Louise Jensen novel the tension weaves its way skilfully throughout each page, teasing you with twists, tantalising you with clues and pulling the rug from under your feet at every turn. It’s not a wham bam thank you mam kind of read but rather a tension laden thriller that will leave you with your head spinning!

I’ve read some of this author’s other books so was delighted to receive an advance copy of her latest novel, The Fall, published on 27th April.
Thanks to HQ, Harper Collins and NetGalley for my copy.

I thought the cover of this book was very appealing and I would pick it up if I saw it on a book shelf. It’s a good fit for the story too.

The story follows a very close family who seemingly don’t have any secrets from each other. When fifteen year old Caily is found unconscious at the bottom of a bridge, the family is torn apart by long hidden revelations and buried secrets. It’s difficult to say much more about the plot without giving it away.

The main characters in the story are twins, Beth and Kate, who have recently celebrated their fortieth birthdays. Their children, Caily and Tegan, are very close.
I thought the characters were really well done and I liked all of them, especially Twix the dog.
I didn’t find it confusing to keep track of who was who as I could picture them in my mind.

The book deals with various issues such as life post Brexit, Covid, the cost of living crisis, the realities of farming and dementia. It’s woven in to the story and doesn’t feel like an add on.

There are a lot of twists and turns and I thought I had a few things sussed out early on. I was proved totally wrong and had to keep reading to find out what was going to happen.
Some parts are very poignant and it makes you realise the importance of family.

I enjoyed this book. It’s definitely a page turner that will keep you guessing. Highly recommended.

A great psychological thriller featuring a close family who are torn apart after one of the youngest of them is found after a fall and is hospitalised and in a coma.

The story follows three generations of the family, who are struggling post covid and cost of living to keep their heads above water. The grandparents have health issues, the twin daughters have money worries and their daughters are coping with social media bullying and the sting of first love.

Well written and really tense. I guessed and guessed again about the outcome and was wrong almost until the end. Great read and highly recommended.

Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

3/5. 6/10. A good story, twisty plot, well developed characters and plenty of suspense. Didn’t have me gripped but that may have been because the Harder Collins arc was unappealing due to poor formatting and font inconsistency and the many errors made it difficult and uncomfortable to read.
Thanks to the author and Netgalley for the arc.

Everyone has a secret but some are willing to kill to protect it.
Louise Jensen plays the tension to perfection in this novel. A host of characters mingle, and slowly the story unfolds. Each chapter is from the viewpoint of one of the main characters, either in present day or the recent past s9 when Kate’s daughter falls fr9m a bridge and remains in a c9ma in hospital the reader is given access to background information.
As the family try to come t9 terms with the accident, financial worries, health concerns and many secrets are uncovered.
