Kate and Beth are twins and are very close. They have daughters of their own who are also very close, Caily and Tegan. Kate is married but Beth is bringing up Tegan on her own and is struggling financially. Kate and her husband Matt are running the family farm and live with the parents of Kate and Beth. The farm is struggling and money is very tight. The story starts when the family throw a surprise 40th birthday party for Kate and Beth. They all have a good time. The following day Caily and Tegan are due to stay at school for the last rehearsal for their performance of La La Land. Caily has the lead and Tegan is her understudy. There is a feud at school with Caily getting the lead and this leads to unpleasant messages on social media which Caily is very distressed about. They both miss the rehearsal and this is where the story really begins. Caily is found near a bridge and is in a coma having fallen onto rocks. Was it a cry for help or was she pushed. The police are obviously involved and the dramas of the individuals in the family come to light. Matt and Beth have a secret owing money to a loan shark with no way of paying it back. Kate spends all her time at the hospital waiting for Caily to wake up to find out who pushed her daughter off the bridge. Then there are Kate and Beths’s parents. Dad wheelchair bound and mom is having memory problems. Can they be involved in this unwittlingly. The book then twists and turns in so many ways that cannot wait to finish it and then are disappointed when you have. The characters are all interesting and the book is a must read. Did not predict the ending - I loved it

I like books with sisters, particularly twins, and this book includes both. Identical twins sisters gather for a 40th birthday party, and each have a teenager. One of the girls is found unconscious and it seems obvious that it was not an accident. This is a slow burn story that picks up toward the end with a nice twist. It is a quick read with mystery and suspense. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

THE FALL

Thank you #NetGalley and HQ for my e-arc copy of #TheFall in exchange for my honest review.

I’ve read and loved Jensens’ previous novels, so I couldn’t wait to get started on this one.

The Fall was such a fast paced novel and crammed full off twists.
There were times that I was worried maybe this one was crowded with too many characters and so much going on that I wouldn’t be able to keep up; not helped that this was an e-arc and the formatting was bad from the start.

But this didn’t distract from the exceptional writing, which encouraged me to continue reading, wanting to know what’s coming next.

There was so much more to this story than I first thought there would be and where I welcomed this, as it kept it moving at such a fast pace I also thought that there was sometimes to much going on. Hence my four stars.

Otherwise an exceptional mystery thriller that I’d highly recommend.

I'm always excited to read a Louise Jensen book as I know it'll be a great story. This book was filled with mini stories and sub-plots. Filled with tension it helped me hooked throughout. Would definitely recommend.

She promised not to tell. They made sure she couldn’t…

At her surprise 40th birthday party, Kate Granger feels like the luckiest woman in the world but just hours later her fifteen-year-old daughter, Caily, is found unconscious underneath a bridge when she should have been at school.

Now, Caily lies comatose in her hospital bed, and the police don’t believe it was an accident. As the investigation progresses, it soon becomes clear that not everyone in the family was where they claimed to be at the time of her fall.

Caily should be safe in hospital but not everyone wants her to wake up. Someone is desperate to protect the truth and it isn’t just Caily’s life that is in danger.

Because some secrets are worth killing for

This book keeps you on your toes! It is an excellent psychological thriller, with the tension building up throughout.

Many thanks to NetGalley and HQ Fiction for an advance copy in return for a fair and honest review.

This psychological thriller starts with a 40th birthday celebration in a farmhouse. Hours later, the birthday girl, Kate Granger, discovers her 15 year old daughter has been found lying unconscious under a bridge when she should have been at school getting ready to perform as the lead in a school play. Jensen rachets up the tension very nicely. I'm keen to discover her previous books.

Definitely one of those books which holds you close and doesn’t let you go.

Lots of simmering tension and outright aggression, with well written characters. I’m a massive fan of Jenson’s novels and will definitely look out for more.

I always start a Louise Jensen book with a little smile on my face knowing I'm in for a treat. And The Fall didn't disappoint any expectations I had.

This book pulled me into a world where I found myself really connected to the characters like I was walking through their life and problems with them.

I loved the journey it took me on, and couldn't wait to dive back in at any given opportunity.

It's safe to say I will still always look forward to book by Louise Jensen and savour every last word

I read a lot of good reviews of Louise Jensen's books but never read one before.
This one was good, full of secrets and twists, featuring interesting characters and never dragging or letting the tension down.
It's a bit slow at times but it kept me on the edge and guessing.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine

I have been a huge fan of Louise Jensen since I first read, 'The Sister.' This book was a great read. However, it did take me a little while to get into the story. Once I did though, I was not disappointed. This was a fantastic read. The storyline kept me guessing and in the end I was pleasantly surprised and didn't guess 'who done it.'
If you are a fan of Louise Jensen and thrillers you will enjoy this book.
Thank you to Louise Jensen and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I've been having a few spooky moments with music on the radio of late. Read a book on Vietnam and songs from Miss Saigon played, same when i came to write the review. Same happened with The Fall, only this time it was songs from La La Land which, by spooky coincidence, is the show that Caily is meant to rehearsing when she has her accident - a fall from a bridge near her home. It is this fall that forms the basis of the mystery i this book and sends her mother, Kate, and her previously safe and happy family life, into a kind of free fall. The police are convinced Caily didn't fall but was pushed, and with everyone, including her rock, normally reliable twin sister, Beth, acting suspiciously, Kate really doesn't know who t trust anymore.

I really enjoyed this book. It's not a particularly fast paced book, although there are some scenes in which the tension, and the pace, skyrocket, moments when the threat levels really peak and you get that edge of the seat kind of feeling as you read. But to be honest, it suits the nature of the story. It's about a seemingly normal family, staving off normal pressures including, in the case of Kate and her husband Matt, trying to keep a farm afloat in the increasing pressures forced on them by the aftermath of Brexit and the pandemic. But it's also a suspenseful and atmospheric read, the isolation of the farm adding to the feeling that anything could have happened to result in Caily's fall.

I liked that way in which Louise Jensen has managed to introduce a wide variety of suspects and, in spotlighting some moments from the days leading up to Caily's accident, adds more confusion and suspicion to fuel the fire. It this a case of bullying gone too far, school room jealousy that has boiled over, or something far more sinister? And believe me, there is plenty of sinister in the mix and some characters who make the skin crawl through even the simplest of actions. Desperate times lead to very desperate measures, but as to how this informs the story, the truth was cleverly shielded by the author until the perfect moment.

There are some surprising reveals in this book too, things I wasn't expecting, as well as some very tender and poignant moments. Louise Jensen has done a brilliant job in creating a family that I grew to care about, from Kate, Matt and Caily, to Beth and her daughter, Tegan, and even the grandparents. It makes what comes to pass all the more emotional, and this is a book that toys with your emotions every bit a much as it plays with the mystery and suspense over what really happened to Caily. I liked the way in which the bond between Kate and Beth is reflected in the next generation, but also the way that the author has highlighted the fragility in even the strongest looking ties.

With chapters moving between points of view, it is still easy to keep track of the action. There are even chapters in the voice of the person who was likely responsible for Caily's fall, and although it will be a long time before we know who this person is, the scenes are both chilling and comforting, and the contradiction of the actions and the thoughts really add to the level of mystery and misdirection.

Another really great novel that fans of the author are going to love. Recommended.

Well The Fall certainly packs a lot in to its pages. Secrets, lies, families, relationships. It’s a pacy plot that will have you hooked from the start and I devoured every word. Well written, I can highly recommend this book. Thank you to NetGalley, HQ and the author for the chance to review.

I enjoyed All For You by Louise Jensen so was eager to read another of her books.

Two sisters, their families and their teenage daughters. Kate's daughter Caily is found unconscious beneath a bridge. There's a family farm, money worries and tensions around a school play that could lead to a drama scholarship.

I didn't find it an easy book to get into. There's a lot of characters and relationships to remember. There is plenty of detailed backstory but unfortunately I didn't feel invested in the characters.

Sorry to say this wasn't really one for me.

Thanks to Netgalley and HQ

I will leave a review on Amazon and B&N on April 27th

The Falls is a book that is centered around a set of twin's and their 15 year of daughters. When Caily is found laying below the bridge, at first we don't know if this was an accident or if someone pushed her. This book was filled with plenty of twists and turns, and I totally was not expecting the reveal in the storyline. I would recommend it to others.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher, and I am leaving my review voluntarily.

Twins Kate and Beth celebrate their 40th birthday. The day after, Kate’s daughter Caily is found under a bridge when she should have been in a school play rehearsal. The police don’t believe it was an accident.

The family is a farming family and the struggles Kate and her husband Matt face really highlight the struggles it is to be a farmer. Lots of the issues are covered in the Clarkson’s farm TV show so if you watched and enjoyed that, and also love thriller books, then this book is for you!

This is a great book but the story does explore dementia and memory loss which is awful and can be a trigger for some.

I found the story easy to read and I thought I had guessed all the major twists. How wrong I was! Every single twist absolutely shocked me!

Disappointing. This is the first book I have read by this author. It started well but the plot and subplots became more and more unbelievable. I should have realised when Caily, a main character is described as such a perfect , beautiful and talented person. It also jumps between time periods that is always annoying.
Having said all this, anyone who still reads women's magazines will probably enjoy it.

I really enjoyed this book and kept me guessing through most of the book as to who had done what and why. A great page turner and the characters kept you hooked and wanting to know how it would all turn out.

Would read from this author.

This is quite a complex storyline, which took me a while to figure out what was going on, in fact until nearly the end!

Due to the endless twists which kept appearing, I didn´t enjoy it as much as I thought I would, but this doesn´t mean it wasn´t a good book, just not what I was expecting.

My thanks to NetGalley and HQ for giving me the opportunity to read an advanced copy in return for an honest review.

Beth and Kate are identical twins who have a daughter each Tegan and Caily, who are best of friends too. But on the night on the school play, Caily is found unconscious under a bridge when she should have been at the rehearsal

Was it accident or was she pushed? The Police don't believe she fell in accidentally but who push her and leave her?

Not everyone is keen for her to wake up though as there are a lot of secrets and what follows divides the cousins, sisters and the entire family

A story about family, secrets, love, loyalties, jealousy and forgiveness

This was a riveting page turner, which kept me guessing right to the very end!

"When everything is done to the wire, love is everything, isn't it?"

Another brilliant read from Louise Jensen! Twins Kate and Beth celebrate their 40th birthday together and life seems to be good, until the next day when each of their daughters are submerged into chaos when they miss a school rehearsal. Caily is found on rocks having fallen from a bridge., but did she really fall or was there a more sinister motive? The storyline is believable and completely drew me in, making the writing more believable and chilling. The twists and turns keep appearing throughout and kept the pages turning with speed. Another suspense filled page turner from a brilliant author!
