Gosh Lousie Jensen can write a story! It has been a while since I have read on of her books and I am wondering why now that I have devoured The Fall in under 24 hours. Twist after twist, secret after secret, I could not stop turning the pages. Short chapters for multiple points of view keeps the mystery of what happened to Caily intense. A family out under pressure, situations and lies making things so much worse than they should be.
Kate and Beth are identical twins and best friends. Their daughters, 15years olds, Caily and Tegan are also joined at the hip. They both love the stage and are about to star in the biggest production to date. But they don't turn up to the final rehearsal, and Caily is found unconscious under a bridge. But foul play is suspected, but who would push her and why? The whereabouts of those closest to her at the time of the fall are put under scrutiny while Caily lies in the hospital in a coma.
If you have read this author before, you will know not to think you have it all worked out until that last page, and once again she has shocked this reader. Couldn't get enough.
Thanks to HQ and Netgalley for my advanced copy of this book to read. Publishes on April 27th.

I like Louise Jensen's books. She is excellent storyteller, and every her story is different and perfectly constructed. The mysteries are endlessly intriguing and very well developed. I really enjoyed reading this book, only the end in my opinion was overcomplicated, with too many unnecessary details in it.

Ooh this story frustrated me! I wanted the author to ease off the pressure! Twin sisters Beth and Kate are celebrating their fortieth birthdays in the family barn, the family are all there plus their 15yr old daughters, one apiece, Tegan and Caily. The daughters are talented stars of the school stage production of La La Lane. Carly is chosen to play the lead and jealousy abounds. Shortly afterwards she is involved in what could be a tragic accident. Did she fall or was she pushed? It all becomes incredibly complicated with red herrings being tossed into the tangled net at every opportunity, each chapter ending in rather cliched questions! The basic storyline was good enough to have carried the characters without all the implausible twists. A shame because I could have enjoyed it a lot more!

Kate Granger has a surprise 40th birthday party, and she feels like she has it all, the best parents, sister, niece, husband and daughter. Working on the family farm is tough, but she is lucky to have so much happiness in her life. The very next day her fifteen-year-old daughter Caily is found unconscious by a bridge when she should have been at school. She seems to have fallen from the bridge into the river and been pulled out and left there. She is now comatose in hospital and the police don’t think it is an accident.
As the investigation develops, it becomes apparent that not everyone is telling the truth to the police, or to Kate. People are keeping secrets. Secrets they would kill for.
This book wove a very complex mesh of characters, each with their own trouble, and secrets they wished to keep buried. Every time one piece was placed on the board and we thought we were getting closer, another was added to the confusion. The plot kept twisting, not knowing what direction to look, who to suspect, and what was really happening.
While the misdirection was excellent and kept me guessing to the very end, some of the characters we somewhat flawed for me. Some had plot holes - grandma Mary’s age! Others were just keeping things under wraps for no real reason - Kate’s husband Matt hiding the reality of the farm's situation?! No insurance payout for murder?!
I found that overall it was a good read, but could have been a little tighter, shortening it a little, taking out some of the extraneous details, and making the pacing a little faster, and a little more engaging. That being said, it did keep me guessing to the end, earning it its 4th star!
*I received this copy from NetGalley for review, but all opinions are my own.

Outstanding! I devoured this book in one day it was so good!
A complex web of intergenerational secrets starts to come unraveled after the tragic accident of Caily falling off a bridge.
I loved the characters, they felt so real and most of them relatable. The plot just keeps on twisting, adding layers and layers of questions, leaving you not knowing who to trust, right until the end.
Absolutely gripping, a must read.

Unfortunately for this book I didn’t find any of the characters particularly interesting or likeable. Everyone has their secrets which get revealed throughout the book which I enjoyed, however I didn’t find the secrets very exciting or surprising. The book did pick up towards the end and I hadn’t guessed at the twists and turns at all which is what saved the book for me. I think the overall story was a good one, but the way it was written didn’t do it for me.

This novel took a while to get going, like damp kindling wood. It did eventually pick up though and we were faced with ever more complex relationships which were difficult to untangle. The conclusion was a bit too sickly sweet for my liking. The reading experience was badly marred by each page conveying in very large font that the publishers were Harper Collins, it was Copyrighted and it was material (whatever that meant). Of course the story had to try and survive around these massive fonted words but in so doing had their font reduced below normal and complete textual displacement.
There were a few other mistakes and one in particular, if adopted, could cause those following them, possible death.
So, the first relates to Ford Fiestas, an engine will not splutter unless turned over, it will never splutter before being turned over.
Range Rovers are not sleek but about as aerodynamic as a barn door.
Talking of barns, especially ones where a nasty fire is building, opening a skylight would cause a massive draw of heated air, so turning the barn into the perfect inferno. Please don't try this in your own barn.
Lastly, Patrick ate the apple pie without knowledge of the poison within. He was a murder victim and we all know who made the pie. Therefore the life insurance in his name would have paid out as it was not suicide.
I am afraid because of the slow start and overly sweet ending (I was going to say motherhood and apple pie but that's off my menu), I can only give it three stars.

Louise Jensen is an author who delivers on every level. Every new book, instantly becomes my favourite of hers. The Fall is a book I have devoured in one afternoon sitting.
The Fall is a book that hooks the reader instantly. The characters are brilliant, seeing the events unfold has been an entertaining journey.
There is so much to unpick in this book, the author definitely pulls the carpet from under the reader. I found this completely fascinating and unpredictable. As events have unfolded I have been completely speechless.
The farm is the perfect setting and really sets an atmosphere to this book. The stress and anxiety of the characters and the setting really add an element of claustrophobia, which Jensen plays perfectly. The reader is immersed into the depths of this one with the author’s brilliant writing.
The Fall is perfectly paced. I feel as though I have watched the events play out in front of me. I could easily imagine this on screen. I would definitely be there to watch this over and over.
I have loved this book from beginning to end. This is one of those books that I really didn’t want to end. This is worthy of all the stars. Jensen is definitely at the top of her game and The Fall is a brilliant addition to her collection.
A must read and one I cannot recommend more.

Talk about a novel with nerve shredding suspense! Wow! A truly exciting read where someone falls from a bridge which results in testing every family members relationships and also those outside the family circle.

Thanks netgalley and publishers for arc
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and its many twists and turns. It started out following twins Kate and Beth and their daughters Caily and Tegan who are almost like twins they are all brought up around their parents Patrick and Marys farm even Kate’s husband Matt works on the farm
But times are tough the farm is earning no money is in debt but Matt can’t tell Kate and Beth lives in a tiny rented house and is in debt to with the cost of living crisis she can’t even afford new shoes for Tegan
The girls are due to appear in a school production and Caily is the lead she has been receiving lots of vile instagram messages and horrible jibes at school but Tegan keeps her strong until they have a fall out and then Caily is found under the bridge in the river and then she is in a coma.
Was she pushed? Who by? Everyone loves her no one knows about fall out apart from her and Tegan where was she when Caily fell she won’t speak to anyone is in shock
Mary is so upset she and Patrick love their granddaughters dearly and want her to wake up but Mary knows a secret she thinks or does she? She has rats and bees in her head all time it’s so confusing
And how far would you go to get your family out of debt in these hard times in a small village? You would be surprised how far Beth and Matt have gone will it cost them their lives?

A brilliant story which absolutely threw me with the twist as I did not see that one coming!! A great read and almost impossible to put down while you run through the different stories....

Twins Beth and Kate both turn 40 at the start of this novel, and they each have a teenage daughter. Their daughter Cailly and Teagen are the closest of friends and starring in the school musical the day after the party, however, they fail to turn up to the dress rehearsal. Cailly ends up in a coma in the hospital following a fall, but did she jump or was she pushed and who was she with?
This book was a fast and enjoyable read. Initially I thought it was potentially a run of the mill psychological thriller but very quickly new hooks appeared which really livened up the narrative. New relationships, new suspicions to keep me puzzling things out.
I thoroughly enjoyed the tight analysis of family dynamics and I always love a story with a twin dynamic in it.
The book is set in a very rural area and I loved the portrayal of a farming family and the stresses that the current climate has brought to the farming community. I felt this was really effectively portrayed.
I had one small gripe which was that Mary, the grandmother is said to be in her 'early sixties' and met her husband when she was 15, however has been married for 53 years. The maths didn't quite work here!.

Thank you to Netgalley and Publisher for giving me access to this text. As a result, I am giving my honest opinion in exchange.
I wasn’t a fan of the settings or the characters; as well as being bored for the most part, this made it harder to get through. By the time I reached the middle, I was already lost to the point of not really engaging. I felt that whilst each character had something to hide, It was all just revealed. There was also just too much happening to this group of people. I found it hard to keep track and thus it felt unrealistic to me at times. As a result, I didn’t find it intriguing. To add to this, this story just felt like it went on for too long.
The plot worked and it was easy enough to read. Perhaps this book would be more appealing to others, but it wasn’t for me.

You can’t always like everyone can you. Some characters were not likeable and the ending was a little bit of a stretch but I enjoyed it and would read the authors other works.

Kate and Beth are identical twins. Both have a 15 year old daughter. Although life is not always easy Kate feels happy and lucky. Until the day after her 40th birthday party when her daughter Caily is found unconscious under a bridge when she should have been at school. Now Caily is in a coma in hospital and the police believe she was pushed. A number of characters might have a reason to hurt her, so who is keeping secrets?
I actually didn't really enjoy this book. I found the plot to be incredibly far fetched, particularly the ending. Thanks to Netgalley for a preview copy.
Copied to Goodreads.

I’ve read all of Ms Jensen’s books and they just get darker and more craftily weird.
I mean that in the best way possible!
Truly a diehard thriller fan’s delight.

I'm a huge fan of this author and was pleased to review this one. Its a great storyline and one that she tells very well. You won't be disappointed.

I enjoyed the story in the book and some of the characters but there were some characters i just couldnt warm to at all. I found parts of it a little far fetched and it did labour some points far too much. I didnt predict the ending but again this was quite far fetched. Overall it was a steady read

The story was a good one, but I found it difficult to become engrossed in the book. The characters were rather unbelievable, and not particularly likeable, and I found it all rather slow-going.

Solid murder plot involving family dynamics involving twin sisters families.
The book was slow at times but the murder mystery does carry through well.
Enjoyed the book and the social pressures illustrated in this book, farming families pressures for example which you can identify here in the UK or Europe as well.
This book ends up being a mystery thriller with a plot I did not see coming.
