The Good

👟 This was a fast-paced mystery/thriller that kept me engaged through constantly shifting storyline from a multitude of characters.

👟 I didn't work out who the killer was.

👟 I loved the setting of Esperance, and despite the snobbish inhabitants (and the odd murder) I still want to live there!

The Bad

🏃‍♀️ I found some of the characters to be too one dimensional.

🏃‍♀️ One character underwent a total personality change at the end of the book. This would have been a great twist but I just didn't find it to be believable - there had been no hint to us as the reader to bring us on board with this sudden shift.

🏃‍♀️ I would have enjoyed a little more about the women actually running, although I appreciate this may have interrupted the pace of the mystery element of the story.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC of this book.

This is the one running club you don’t want to belong to! Suburban wealthy backstabbing mothers who just might kill you, with seeming kindness or maybe for real! An utter delight of a mystery!

I enjoyed this one more than I thought would! Based on a small rich community, women with plenty time on their hands! Liked the running references too.

A Perfect Place..?
Esperance, home to the extremely wealthy, a beautiful place full of beautiful people. Esperance is a truly perfect place. Or is it? What exactly is hiding beneath these glamorous facades and what dark secrets are being concealed? The local running club is popular amongst the residents here - but that is all about to change. After all, money talks - but when it comes to murder, what then? An engaging and entertaining tale with a sharply crafted backdrop, well defined characters and an immersive plot line.

This book is a must-read! It is a gripping page turner with a twisty, engaging plot. Ali Lowe is a writer to watch out for!
The plot focuses on the Esperance women and their relationships. They live dazzling lives of wealth, far from their poverty-stricken pasts. When one of them is killed, it unleashes a dizzying unfolding of the truth behind the elegant front doors!
I can imagine this as a drama series, as the characters and plot are captivating, indepth, and magnificent!
Perfect for mystery, suspense, and women's fiction fans. Amazing!

3.75 stars rounded up.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advance e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a really entertaining thriller with some fantastic characters to dig my teeth into. If you love a book with lots of twists and turns this one is for you! It follows an upper-class group of four women and their husbands, whose lives are turned upside down following a death, digging up past and present drama and resentments. It really reminded me of Liane Moriarty books - set in Australia following the relationships and betrayals between a group of women.

While my advance edition did have some formatting issues, I found the writing style enjoyable and easy to read. The characters are great - I was able to quickly distinguish the four female MCs and their husbands from each other as they're all written well and have their unique quirks and motivations.

Brought down from a 4 star as I didn't like the final (final final) twist at the end, and I feel like the ending came very suddenly but also dragged on longer than it needed to.
