DNF - I didn't really 'get into' this book, unfortunately. I think maybe its audience is young adults perhaps?

I struggled at the beginning with the different timelines but once I got used to flicking between them I was absolutely hooked, always wanting to know more. I loved the way it showed the influence you have on other people and their decisions/lives too. It was great to see a what if scenario played out in real time, something I think we could all relate to at some point

This took me a while to get into because of the way it was written, but I’m glad I persevered.

Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.

An interesting take on the ‘sliding doors’ idea, where you get to see what would happen in your life if you’d made different choices at key moments in your life. Ellie is about to get married, but instead of having her hair and make up done, she’s hiding under her bed in her childhood room, wondering if she’s doing the right thing, or should she take a chance and do something completely different. The story then visits each choice that she’s made over the years to see what would have happened, had she made two different choices - from moving to Paris, having a baby to becoming a doctor. Interesting concept and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

This is written in such a brilliantly fascinating way, showing what would happen if the protagonist made X or Y choice - I loved this unique sense of moving forward in 2 different ways, and I thought it was beautifully put together. There is so much love oozing out of this book, if you're a romance fan looking for something unique definitely give it a go!

A brilliant concept. I've always been a believer that im life we have a choice of two pathways and in this book Ellie is questioning if she should actually get married as she thinks back to what actually got her there to that very day. We don't normally see th8s in a book and it was a refreshing change! Thoroughly enjoyed it!

You Are Here is a clever and thought-provoking novel that will make you question the choices you’ve made in your own life, and is one of my favourite books I’ve read so far this year. The book is is a brilliant mix of relatable, likeable characters and a sliding-doors-style ‘what if?’ plot (and who doesn’t love those?) which is clever, fun and so addictive to read!

I loved the main character Ellie. She is convincing, interesting and, although she’s not perfect in her decisions, she’s very likeable. She also has that very common problem of either struggling to make a decision or, if she has made a decision, wondering forever afterwards if she’s made the right one, or how things might have turned out if one decision in her life had been different. And that forms the basis of this book.

We join Ellie at the start as she prepares to marry her fiancé – who exactly this is, we don’t know – but Ellie is wondering is she’s making the right decision, and whether other choices in her life would lead to this same point or a very different kind of life. Therein, we see two alternate outcomes for every key decision in her life, starting with the university and course she picks. The plot then cleverly guides us through the alternative routes of Ellie’s life, showing us how one small change can make such a big difference…

You Are Here has humorous, poignant and surprising moments, but it’s a really fun, entertaining read. I absolutely raced through it, and although you could argue the ending tied things up a little too neatly, I loved the entire book from start to finish!

I loved this. The references and air of the choose your own adventure books was so nostalgic - you’d think a story that branches off into so many possibles paths and plots would be confusing to follow, but it wasn’t! Just totally gripping instead! I love the powerful exploration of fate in this, as I truly believe that choices as small as getting the tube or bus can change your life. There were some very tragic moments in this and, when we see the other paths that could have been taken, it results in such a life affirming read.

I've read and enjoyed previous books by this author and had high hopes for this. However, sadly, this just wasn't for me. I struggled to get into it and very soon found myself skipping parts. I didn't identify with, or particularly like, any of the characters and felt it was more of a YA book. I wasn't able to finish it. Maybe it's just me and my age but I just couldn't engage with the storyline. My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a pre-release copy in exchange for my honest review.

I found this confusing at first and then depressing. I get the regret genre, we all wonder what if. But every outcome was beyond awful, and it was compounded by a selfish conclusion that was like karma in reverse.

This book did not quite live up to my expectations. There were lots of great elements, I enjoyed lots of the characters and plot lines. And I liked the concept of the book. However, it was just a bit confusing…at every point we get to see the outcomes of Ellie’s choices, which is great, expect maybe there are too many choices as by the end I was getting confused about which choice was the one she had followed!

Overall, I enjoyed this and liked the characters a lot, however I felt I needed to give this book a bit more headspace than I had right now, to get the full benefit.

A good concept and great characters. 3.5 rounded up to 4

"You Are Here" by Eva Woods is a heart-warming story about friendship, love, and finding hope in unexpected places. The novel follows the lives of two women, Anna and Rosie, who are brought together by fate when they are both diagnosed with terminal illnesses.

Anna is a workaholic who has always put her career first, while Rosie is a free spirit who has spent her life traveling the world. Despite their different backgrounds, the two women form a deep bond as they navigate their illnesses and support each other through the highs and lows of life.

The book is beautifully written, with vivid descriptions of London and heartwarming scenes between the two main characters. The author manages to capture the essence of what it means to be truly alive, even when facing death. The themes of love, friendship, and second chances are explored with sensitivity and depth.

Overall, "You Are Here" is a poignant and uplifting read that will leave readers feeling grateful for the precious moments in life. It's a reminder to live life to the fullest, to cherish the people we love, and to find joy in the simple things. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a heartwarming and inspiring read.

If you like the film 'Sliding Doors', you will want to read 'You are Here.' This well-written story, with the same concept as the film, is fascinating and entertaining. All of your choices have led you to where you are now. This is a thought-provoking idea, no matter how often it's used!

The dual timelines within the plot are relatable, along with a handful of intriguing characters. This became a fast-paced read for me. It was great to see what Ellie's life would have been like. The writing style made me want to read more by the author.

Please note; there are some sensitive topics discussed within this story, and I advise readers to research any trigger warnings.

'You are Here' is a book that is worth pre-ordering. It will make an ideal summer 2023 read.

Ellie is having wedding day jitters and is doubting whether this is the right thing to do. There were so many other ways her life could have played out, how did she end up hiding under her childhood bed aged 38?

So I read this book because the main characters has my name. And it’s not like when the surname is mentioned once and you forget it immediately, she is referred to as Ellie Warren multiple times in the story. It’s kinda weird, though I am no stranger to other Ellie Warrens. There’s one who keeps using my email address by mistake. I wonder if she would also like to read this…

Anyway, back to the book. This Ellie must have been born around the same year as me, went to university the same sort of time, and so there is a little bit of nostalgia to the events and culture referenced.

The premise itself was interesting. As she looks back at her life, at each point where she makes a major decision, the consequences of both are played out, before returning to the present day where someone pops up at the wedding preparations to confirm which choice was the one she actually made.

I thought it would be more of a fun read than it was. Ellie’s life is a bit aimless and she spends a lot of time worrying over the choices she has made. I’m not quite sure why, if you were going to study medicine and wanted to be a doctor, you’d accept an error which meant you’d have to study English instead. A lot of the choices end up with quite extreme consequences. It briefly covers suicide, dementia, life-changing injury, death of a parent, infidelity, and abortion.

It relies quite a bit on stereotypes too. From the posh people at Oxford to the nerdy nerds that no one likes via the chic French. Ellie herself rankles at the Northern stereotypes applied to her, but she’s not much better herself.

Maybe if it had a focus on mental health, it might have made Ellie a more sympathetic character. She seems depressed at times, but it isn’t acknowledged. Instead she goes from one bad decision to the next, bemoaning that things never work out for her, wishing she were a doctor and had a boyfriend.

I feel like I never got to knew Mark, he was just this spectre from the past, who was supposedly her best friend but she made very little effort to spend time with. I totally understand that maintaining friendships are hard, especially at distance, but she would just phone him up out of the blue and expect help after years of not speaking.

I found it took a while to get I to this, but once I did it was very enjoyable. This will be a perfect beach or poolside read for the summer, and feels very relatable.

This was a simple, fun, easy and quick read. The perfect type of book for your holiday, beach, pool kind of read. This is a first for me by the author and one I enjoyed and I would read more of their work.

The E-Book could be improved and more user-friendly, such as links to the chapters, no significant gaps between words some text written has been typed in red and a cover for the book would be better. It is very document-like instead of a book. A star has been deducted because of this.

The book cover is eye-catching and appealing and would spark my interest if in a bookshop. Thank you very much to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

I had high hopes for this novel; however, 8% of the way into it there was a scene with a cadaver explained in a lot of detail. This was a trigger for me and one of the reasons I don’t read crime or horror books. For this reason I did not finish it. Also, a section of the novel is set in 2001-2002 when the character is 17/18. A lot of products, films and books are mentioned from around that time and a few years earlier than that. At first this felt like it gave the novel depth, but after a while became a tick box exercise as it wasn't always done smoothly.

I would recommend this book to people who have a stronger constitution than I do.

Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from NetGalley. This was an enjoyable read exploring multiple timelines and choices. I liked the concept, but felt there wasn't enough distinction between different choices, making it hard to follow at times.

Oh I just loved reading 'You Are Here', a romcom with the right level of intrigue mixed in to keep me gripped, and plenty of cliff-hangers in each section to keep me reading on!
Ellie has always struggled to make a decision, almost paralysed in her decision making by spending ages thinking about what might happen in all possible scenarios and unable to commit to anything.

The book starts on her wedding day but she's not sure that the groom is the One for her so she goes back through her life trying to see what has brought her to this point and if she can decide what the right way forward is.

The story was so cleverly crafted, at each junction you can see what would happen in either scenario, from her choice of university and choice of subject, to what happened after university - where she lived, what job she has, who she dates, and the infinite way that each choice spirals out with wide reaching consequences was brilliantly thought through. There are some consistent characters as well as Ellie, her best friend from childhood and her university friends, who have had their own lives affected by various decisions Ellie has made through her life.

As someone who can struggle to make a decision quickly, I fully empathised with Ellie and her indecisive nature, I have spent lots of time thinking 'what if....' - and this was explored well. The book kept me thinking and keen to find out where Ellie would end up.

Thanks to Little, Brown for the ARC- 4.5 stars rounded up!
