There is so much I could say about this story, besides the fact that it had historical value. It struck me emotionally, as well. I was touched by all the Mexican wife was willing to experience to be able to stay with her husband.

I have been rather disappointing in this novel. The writing style was really weak, and needs much editing. The plot felt to me written in a rush and the conclusion was brought to an abrupt stop leaving me annoyed. The characters are not finely drawn , with shallow personalities.

A well done fictionalized story of the conflicts at the border back in the 1800s. I did enjoy the story, but must admit I skimmed a bit at times. Would still recommend, especially if you enjoy history.
