The story itself is complex and creepy, with our main character waking to find herself in a position none of us could ever comprehend being in. As the story progresses, there’s lots of drama and background revealed to us, and plenty of moments of what feels like true terror which do add to the suspense and make you want to keep reading. The ending was a little rushed and confusing but overall a fantastic read that had me on the edge of my seat throughout.

This was an interesting read by an author that I was not familiar with having never read their work before. I always enjoy a new to me author and I wasn’t disappointed.
I found the characters interesting and really had a depth to them with lots of details described for me to portray them in my mind and really get inside them.
The story line took me to a place I wasn’t expecting and kept me intrigued right until the end.
I would recommend to anyone interested in this genre and will be reading more.

I love being given the opportunity to update our school library which is a unique space for both senior students and staff to access high quality literature. This is definitely a must-buy. It kept me absolutely gripped from cover to cover and is exactly the kind of read that just flies off the shelves. It has exactly the right combination of credible characters and a compelling plot thatI just could not put down. This is a great read that I couldn't stop thinking about and it made for a hugely satisfying read. I'm definitely going to order a copy and think it will immediately become a popular addition to our fiction shelves. 10/10 would absolutely recommend.

I found parts of this story abit frustrating. There were many twists and turns, but the book was long and I felt could easily have lost 50-100 pages. The story was dark in places and did come together well.

This is the third Will Dean novel I've read. The first was a thriller set in my own stomping ground of Lincolnshire, in which a farmer holds a migrant worker hostage. The second was a Nordic noir crime novel where we follow a journalist trying to discover a murderer.

The Last Passenger is a high concept novel in which a woman gets on a cruise and then discovers she is virtually alone on the ship.

All that is to say that Dean is a master storyteller who defies labels. I thoroughly enjoyed The Last Passenger. I don't want to give too much of the plot away but if you like twisty thrillers, this is for you.

Many thanks to Will Dean, Netgalley, and Hodder & Stoughton for this copy.

Caz is finally allowing herself a holiday with her partner Pete, a luxury ocean liner trip across the Atlantic to New York. But then she wakes up on the first morning alone - very alone. No other passengers, no crew, no captain.

The Last Passenger is a book that grips you from the start. The premise is simple. One woman, one ship, a huge ocean. Now I will admit, you do have to let go of reality ever so slightly, just in terms of would/could this actually happen. But if you manage to do that, it’s a wild ride. What I loved most about this book is that I never knew where it was going and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. It also really encapsulated how isolating a lone passenger on a lone ship in the middle of the Atlantic is, and just how vast and unforgiving the ocean can be.

A very thrilling read and I highly recommend it

Embarking on the RMS Atlantica for a dream vacation with her new love, Pete, Caz anticipates a voyage of a lifetime. The initial night is filled with exploration, dining, dancing, and newfound friendships. However, when Caz awakens the next morning, Pete is nowhere to be found.

To her dismay, she discovers all cabin doors wide open as she steps into the corridor. The unsettling reality dawns on her—the ship is deserted. There are no passengers, no crew, just Caz alone on the sailing Atlantica. Yet, this is only the beginning of the chilling odyssey she finds herself ensnared in. "The Last Passenger" was an unnerving experience, with unbearable tension and an unpredictable sequence of events. The twists were both remarkable and shocking, culminating in a fantastic conclusion.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for sending a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A thriller in which a woman goes on a cruise and wakes up to find everyone gone – or have they?

This kept me up late at night because I wanted to know what happened, but the ending ruined things for me. The book has a great premise and most of the story was good but it ended up only half explaining things and then taking a mad turn that left you completely in the dark. I prefer my mysteries to be explained at the end so that I’m clear what was going on! If you don’t mind about that, though, then this is definitely worth a read. A little warning that it does dip into horror once or twice.

I'd like to thank the publishers and Netgalley for kindly providing me with an advance copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

I can’t recommend this book enough if you like edge of your seat twisty thrillers. After a few years of reading books in that genre that are rather similar, this book was refreshingly original. I was instantly drawn into this gripping story about survival, sacrifice, relationships, strength and endurance and found it difficult to put down.
I am now looking forward to see what Will Dean writes next.

I received an advance copy of this book from Hodder & Stoughton through Netgalley, however this did not influence my unbiased honest review of the book.

This read totally blew my mind!

The story starts when Caz and her boyfriend board the Atlantica for their holidays. After their first night on the ship, Caz wakes up and realises that she is alone on the ship.

From this point starts a whirlwind of events with many plot twists. Honestly, I haven’t felt more lost of what to think of a plot. There is nail biting suspense, raw, shocking scenes, and tangible tension throughout the book.

Can’t reveal much without spoiling the story but one thing that I can, under all circumstances, do is praise Will Dean’s writing. His next book is always so much better than the last and I’m always utterly dumbfounded when I read them. Such an amazing writer and each of his books is a success by itself! Can’t recommend enough!

Nothing is as it seems in this book. The ending will surprise you endlessly. Another thrilling read for anyone who loves a good book.

The blurb for this one hooked from the first reading and I was excited to get to read the ARC. And it was good, right until it wasn't.

The characters made this one. While only a few of them made they the journey and mystery interesting, though a few of them were characters you'd love to hate.
The mystery was engrossing. The What and the Why kept your reading and guessing til the end. And the ending of the mystery was interesting and a good concept. And then it had to give a bit more, like that bit in a horror movie where the killer's hand/foot/mask is shown just before the credits. Well I wish this book hadn't had that little bit.

Grab this book for a weekend read and skip that last bit.

A great holiday read - I have gripes about implausible aspects of the plot and the amount of repetition of Caz's inner thoughts, however, I was gripped by the story line and could have read all night! 3.7 stars!

A high concept thriller that lives up the incredible premise — and then some! Will Dean will have you guessing throughout this tense and high octane thriller. A one-sitting read.

With thanks to the author, publishers Hodder & Stoughton, and NetGalley for providing me with a digital ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Such a fantastic premise for a book! The main protagonist Caz awakens to realise that she is apparently the only remaining passenger on the cruise ship The Atlantica. However, she quickly discovers that all is not as it seems.

The author's writing style and the short snappy chapters combine well to keep the storyline constantly ticking along. I was not expecting where that storyline took me as the reader, which is a refreshing change. It speaks as much about the views and morality of modern society, as it does about the experiences of the passengers who set out on the trip. In fact, the storyline got quite dark if not a little gory in parts, although not to excess.

This really was a fun and enjoyable read. I will certainly be checking out more works by the authors based on this.

I wasn't at all sure what I was going to get with this book, but what I did get was a creepy, supenseful utterly modern novel that, with a stretch of imagination wasn't too unbelievable a plot. The Last Passenger is difficult to review using details from the storyline as I don't want to put in any spoilers. It's best for the reader if the revelations unravel at the pace the author intended - that way you get that smack in the face BLOODY HELL moment every tme a new twist is introduced.
Very thought provoking and a commentary on aspects of our life we may or may not be aware of.
Some charcaters I liked, some I was suspicious of, some I loathed - but every one of them was unbelievable.

I did wonder if the main character might have been a bit more hysterical when confronted by being cast away alone in the middle of the Atlantic in a massive boat.
The slow personal revelations from each of the characters kept me hooked throughout.

I loved the first book I read by Will Dean but this one didn't quite live up to the hype in my opinion. I felt the short chapters were good for creating suspense but the plot was far too stretched and unbelievable for me I'm afraid.

A terrifying roller coaster of a read that had me on the edge of my seat and my heart in my mouth. A fantastic book

Welcome aboard the wild ride that is The Atlantica. Settle in, unpack your luggage and get ready to set sail. Now, imagine waking up in your bedroom on this cruise of a lifetime to find that not only is your partner gone but you’re also the only person left on the boat, stranded at sea.

The Last Passenger is a fast paced pager turner with almost a dystopian feel, which I think is best described as a locked room thriller meets Squid Games. The book follows the protagonist Caz as the terrifying unimaginable events unfold and with the format of her first person POV it is hard not to feel every single ounce of anxiety she experiences.

A dark, claustrophobic and twisted book which looks at morality, human nature and just how far people will go when pushed. Full of tension, wave after wave of twists and so many moments that will leave the hairs on the back of your neck bolt upright. As for that ending, pure genius from Dean. A must read for those who like to be genuinely terrified but maybe not one to read if you’re planning to go on a cruise anytime soon.

In true Will Dean fashion this was a clever, gripping, intense read full of angst. It was very uncomfortable at times but that good uncomfortable that makes you frustrated and almost mad at times, something Will Dean is the expert at creating.

This is a non stop action, engrossing read with lots of dark topics covered, something that is not for everyone but again something that Will Dean handles so well.

Its creepy, weird, intense and will make you question so much, you'll find yourself asking 'What would I do if that was me?' a lot.

Another terrific read from a fantastic author.
