Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
I loved reading this funny, cute book.
The characters Knox, Alex and Lauren were well written and relatable.
The story made you laugh and cry. The dog name pickle, was also cute.
I recommend this book.
This book is fun. It has some good characters and an enjoyable storyline. I just felt like it didn't really go very far. I wanted a little bit more from it
I couldn't get into this. I didn't like any of the characters and I found it a bit slow going. Won't be reviewing anywhere else as I DNF
Jill Shalvis does it again! Her small-town romances always hit the spot.
I love the ever-present snarkiness, the self-deprecating humor, the Shalvis-style extra tidbits that just add to the whole thing.
The Backup Plan is the story of Lauren, Knox and Alice who inherit an inn which needs renovation. They are stuck together and have to face their entangled pasts.
This story is told effortlessly. I have always loved how Shalvis laces the less-than-happy topics with humor, making her characters seem real and sometimes even awkward. And there's something about her main male characters - they are so very patient, and supportive of the main female characters, especially when faced with their bullshitting ways 🤣.
The Backup Plan is another beautiful addition to the Sunrise Cove.
Thank you to Headline for the ARC via Netgalley. All opinions are my own.
This book was like reading a warm hug. It has all the makings of a lovely Hallmark movie.
Bringing an old inn back to life in a small town, Alice, Lauren and Knox learn a lot about themselves and the woman who led them the inn; Eleanor.
None of the characters are perfect, but throughout the book the grow and learn what it is they’re searching for in life.
It’s a lovely tale of friendship, romance and family.
Thank you NetGalley and Headline for the ARC.
I love Jill Shalvis and this book is one of my new favourite books. Absolutely a page turner and leaves you wanting more at each chapter end. Fantastic story and great characters.
The book was an interesting blend of friendship and romance. It was about 2nd chances, redemption, and love. The storyline was interesting enough but I didn’t find it all that gripping. It was an ok way to while away a few hours, but not enough to hold my interest if a better option came up
I the book was gifted as an ARC in excahge for an honest review.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I know she is immensely successful and receives top rated reviews but sadly, because I love discovering new authors who have enormous back catalogues that I can delve into,) it his was not my cup of tea.
I could not take to Alice and found Lauren almost as irritating. Knox was very underwritten but still came across as a much nicer guy than his two partners. I think one of the things I found hardest to deal with was the continuous ‘snark’ which I guess is meant to show us how smart and funny the speaker is, but which to me simply sounded more like a teenager’s way of speaking than an adult.
There was so much in this book which was good but oh boy, , it was padded out with so much extra stuff that I wondered if it would ever reach the end.
Sorry, this is a perfectly okay read - just not my cup of tea. I’m guessing all her fans will love it..
