Unfortunately I have not been able to connect with this book. It seems to focus more on the fashion industry than on any type of fictional tale. Very interesting if you want to know more about fashion.

This book was okay. A bit slow and long winded. It did describe the fashion industry as the shallow and vapid world it truly is.

I'm sorry but I couldn't get into this book. It gave me Devil Wears Prada vibes but unfortunately not in the same way. I found the characters very unrelatable and also the plot a little too slow for me. SORRY! The writing was good though.

A massive thank you to netgalley, the publisher and the author for a copy of this e-book in exchange for an honest review.

An extremely entertaining book based in the fashion world where Frankie is a fashion PR. A great easy read with relatable characters, strong storyline and lots of laughter. Highly recommended

This is like the Devil Wears Prada, but British, and I LOVE IT! What a fun, fun read. Super easy to read, and very entertaining. I loved the dive into fashion PR, a world I think many of have some time wished to be a part of!
Definitely give this a go.

I think this was very long winded and definitely reminded me of The Devil Wears Prada. The FMC was quite annoying at times and I found her quite un-relatable.

I struggled to get into the story.

Thanks for the copy Netgalley and Natalie!

An inaccurate copycat of the Devil Wears Prada. Swap New York for London, Andi for Frankie and Miranda Priestley for Georgina Clarke. It was not very interesting and the amount of moaning became tedious.

Would not recommend.

I have a feeling that fans of The Devil Wears Prada will really enjoy this.
It was a really quick and easy read that gives you a peek into the world of fashion PR and everything that comes along with it.
You can tell that Natalie Lewis is spilling some insider knowledge in this.
I wasn't expecting to find myself chuckling along at parts, so that was a nice surprise.
It was maybe a little slow to get started but once it did I looked forward to picking this back up.
I'd also be really interested in a follow up book to see what happens next.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Very much on the fence with this one. I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it either. Granted it’s not my usual genre, but I love fashion and the occasional easy read - this seemed like a perfect read.

It gave a great insight to the world of fashion PR and the industry in general - which I found really interesting. But I also found like it never really went beyond it (if that makes sense). Gave me very much ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ vibes. At the beginning I did feel like it was going to be a rehash of that.

Frankie was an interesting character, she was witty and amusing. Her passion and work ethic is evident and fun to read about, however it did get a little tedious as the book went on - the obsession with her job is a bit much.

The chapters were a little lengthy for my personal taste. Which did make it feel a little bit of a slog in parts.

The writing is good and has humorous undertones, I just think I’d have liked a little more of a hook.

Don't Believe the Hype by Natalie Lewis

3 STARS

Ever since The Devil Wears Prada hit the big screens with the iconic Meeyl Streep and Anne Hathaway, I think the world has been sucker for fashion industry novels - tales of bitchery and backstabbing; of impeccable wardrobes and lifestyles we can only dream of.

This is a novel very much in the vein of the aforementioned -the clueless protagonist, the side characters and the general overall plot. An enjoyable read nonetheless but not necessarily a standout.

Fun quick read of a novel following a PR intern in London as she takes her job more seriously than her relationship.

Interesting to see how PR all works

I received this book from netgalley in return for a honest review.

Devil Wears Prada-esque but light hearted humour and personality of MC really made this book. Author's background knowledge on topic shone through the book.

A great debut novel set in the world of fashion, fashion shows and all the PR that goes with this. Introducing Frankie, new to the fashion world, who throws herself into the role of PR with mush enthusiasm. The world is full of diva types, all with differing demands and quirks.

Her relationship with her long term boyfriend James takes the hot, as she is jet setting off around the world for fashion shoots and then publicity, appearances late into the night.

It's a quirky, funny look into the world of fashion; it's opened my eyes into the frenzied demands of this world and I gave the book 4 stars!

Don't believe the Hype is just a wonderful, interesting and enthralling story. The world of a PR agency is a million miles away from my world yet it felt really authentic and, on some level, relateable. I loved it!

Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.

Frankie Marks stumbles into a job as a fashion PR despite not knowing the first thing about designers. Her friends and family can’t understand why she had taken the position. As the job becomes more and more hectic her personal life more and more difficult to manage. Will she continue on a downward spiral or will she escape the fashion world unscathed?

Felt the book was very hard to follow and became repetitive towards the end.
