Lovestruck by Laura Jane Williams is a fun romantic comedy that features not just one love story but two. Becca Calloway is ready for love and after receiving a message from her ex-boyfriend she knows it’s a sign. The only problem is she doesn’t know if she should reply and kick things back off again with Mike, or move forward with a new love interest.

The story features a dual timeline, one where she answers her ex’s message and one where she doesn’t. I enjoyed seeing how Becca’s decision unfolded in the different timelines, and I loved seeing the small crossovers between them too. I thought Becca’s friends added a lot of fun and humour to the story too.

The story follows Becca, a hairdresser in Birmingham UK, in her mid-30s, who has been out of luck with love since her last partner upped and left her for New York. Since then she has opened her own hairdresser with best friend Carlos and has been seeking out love ever since. At an event, she gets a text from her ex (Mike) and from there the story splits in two. One side telling the story 'if she texted back' and the other 'if she hadn't texted back'. In both stories she also meets Noah, a successful author, who is 7 years younger than her. The story goes on to show how the path always leads back to the one you are meant to be with.

The outcome of Becca's HEA did take a turn I did not see coming from the start. The FMC was relatable and the little British nuances in the story was appreciated. Overall I really enjoyed the story.

I have read previous books by this author, but my reading tastes have changed quite a bit since then. This book was great quick palate cleanser after reading a long fantasy book.

I really enjoyed this one! One evening, Becca is faced with a choice — text back her ex or move on with her life. The story follows both options in a dual timeline. A very good book, I loved it!

Unfortunately I read this when long-term sick and so while I noted a star rating, at the time I didn't have capacity for reviews for everything I was reading, and am only now just getting round to giving my feedback. Sorry that's not super helpful

Lovestruck is pure feel-good fun with a twist and is packed with escapist charm. Laura Jane Williams weaves relatable wit and emotional depth into the split parallel paths that Becca navigates, leaving you wondering: can one simple choice change everything?

While I did feel at points that it was a bit messy and didn't fully grasp my attention, the plotline intrigued me enough to finish. Overall, it's a fun and sweet read, with bonus points for the lovable friendship dynamics involving Jia Li and Carlos.

Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Random House for allowing me access to this ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts.

I enjoyed this book however what was a let down was the switching between events was a little too much, I couldn’t keep up with what was happening when and with who with the two different narratives

This was such a good romance book! I loved the twists and turns that came along with this. I liked the two timelines that we followed throughout, and it helped to keep me engaged.

Lovestruck was a really interesting take on a romance story. It is the story of Becca Calloway and how she wants to find the love of her life. And just like buses, three new loves appear all at once …sort of (I had to be really careful how I phrased that).

Told over parallel alternative timelines we see Becca navigate love with Mike, Carlos and Noah. Which one will Becca choose - even she doesn't know.

So, often I have issues with the sort of groundhog day style of writing but Williams has been very clever about it and has actually managed to make you root for all three men AND still like the protagonist.

My one problem with Lovestruck is that while it was a good story I was able to put it down. It took me far longer than it normally does to read a book. I liked it but I didn't manage to fully invest in it. I am glad I read it and the writing was really good it just didn't engage me the way I was expecting it to.

What a fun read this was, think of the film sliding doors and we follow Becca's story unfold from one minute into two streams. It was sometimes a bit confusing on which timeline I was reading however very much enjoyed the ending. Fun fun fun!

Really pleasantly surprised with this one after reading nixed reviews. It got my attention and held it and I was really wondering how the story would go, around half way I did guess what I thought may happen but I really was keen to pick it up and continue.

Unfortunately I could not get into this book at all. It was very slow going and felt like a chore to pick up.

It could be other people’s cup of tea but it just wasn’t mine unfortunately.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for this advanced copy.

This is the third book from this author and by far my favourite. She notes in the acknowledgment section, this was also her favourite and I can see why.

Every character was totally relatable, full of warmth, humour and flaws- totally real! It took me a couple of chapters to get the two story in one plot, but when I did I went all out and absorbed myself in the options. Without revealing too much, I didn't see Carlos as anything but a mate and all the wondering made this book even more enjoyable.

Becca was a banging lead character, I love the way the author gave us a vision of her sense of style, how she showed her insecurities (especially about being a mother) and bravo for this book not being set in London!

I was sad when I saw 100% pop up last night on my kindle, but I shall be sharing the love for this book.

I love Laura Jane Williams previous work but I just struggled to get into this one! The plot was really interesting but I didn’t feel like I could connect with the characters on a good level and honestly just struggled to finish this. I will try again with her other work but this one was just not for me.

This story was great fun. One personswith two alternative lives happening side by side, with a very clever conclusion. Some well described characters who kept the story moving steadily forward. Great conclusion!
