I enjoyed this a bit less than I thought I would. I love the fantasy it carries in the story and the romance was okay for M/M. Out of everything I say I like the characters the most.
Again, this is a collection of a bunch of shorts/novellas gathered together. I loved Ashe and Katsu as much this time and the character growth was wonderful... SPOILER!!!!!
except I wondered how Katsu could possibly fall for his mother's shit when he KNEW who she really was! END SPOILER!!
Kudos to Ashe for drawing lines in the sand and sticking to his guns!
This was enjoyable even when things hurt and, beware, they do!
Thank you NetGalley!
Always excited to receive queer romances, and this was a great addition. I think the formatting was very interesting, and enjoyed reading the compilation. Each story was fun and immersive! Highly recommend to people looking for quicker LGBGTQ+ stories.
I enjoyed the first book in this series, so I was looking forward to the sequel and I enjoyed it just as much. Poor Ashe and Katsu just can't seem to keep put of trouble. Just like the first one, this book was broken into 'short stories,' but each story picks up where the last left off, so it does feel like one cohesive book. These anthologies are worth picking up if you like fantasy, dragons, queer MCs, and found family.
I was so excited to discover this book was out. After reading Dragon’s Path (which, if I’m being honest didn’t blow me away but stayed with me and left me wanting more) I wanted more of Ashe and Katsu.
Dragon Soul - 3*
Katsu has always been a bit of a mystery. We knew he wasn’t entirely human but that was it.
Here we start to discover exactly who he is. But what does this mean for Ashe?
Dragon’s Lair - 4*
Ashe is miserable. All of Katsu’s time is taken looking after his sister. It’s not that Ashe begrudges the time Katsu spends with Chieko. But he just doesn’t fit in here, he’s treated like a monster and he hates it.
He can’t wait until Chieko hopefully recovers and they can go home.
Dragon Touched - 4*
Life in the castle is suffocating Ashe. He needs to get back home and while he loves Katsu he’s losing himself.
Katsu loves Ashe but he’s being dragged back into his old life.
What kind of future can these two have when they’re being dragged in different directions.
Dragon Bound - 4*
Things are never simple for these two.
Ashe is travelling home hoping that Katsu will follow. Katsu is torn but luckily Chieko opens his eyes.
But that leaves the Splendor unhappy resulting in her and putting a bounty on Ashe’s head.
The difficult journey off the island has just become impossible.

Great M/M Fantasy Romance. This is the second set of fantasy romance short stories I've read by this author and this volume did not disappoint. I fell in love with Ashe and Katsu on their adventures in Dragon Fated.
Dragon Fated by JB McDonald.
The Collected Short Stories of Ashe and Katsu * Vol 2.
Branded as a demon. Chased by a mob. Life never gets dull for Ashe and Katsu. Throw in a plague and it's no wonder they haven't had time to suss out their feelings. Now Katsu's past has tracked him down, and it'll take more than quick wits and a magic touch to escape. It'll take an ocean voyage, a parasitic dragon, an ex-boyfriend, and an elf with more love than sense. Join Ashe and Katsu one last time as they sail the ocean, battle in-laws, and – hopefully – fall in love in Dragon Fated.
Really good read. I liked Ashe and Katsu. 4*.
