I could sum this review up very simply by saying I loved this book. I had such a good time with it, it gave me more than I was expecting and I'm kind of sad that it's over.
I knew I was going to get some giggles from this author after skim reading the blurb but the humour in this book played right into my sweet spot. Max's dry sense of humour and sarcasm along with the playful, silly humour between Max and Paige had me laughing out loud. The little end page of each chapter also hit me right in the funny bone. But this wasn't all laughs. The romance in the book made me feel all gooey and mushy but what was most surprising was the touch of sadness I felt for Max.
Poor Max. He was definitely my favourite character and as mentioned, he was hilarious but he was also struggling bless him. He wasn't able to admin to himself that he had to make some serious changes in his life and I think he fell into a trap of blaming his disenchantment with his lot on everyone else. Of course, being a rom-com, he absolutely had to get his happy ending and I was whooping for him when he started to take control of his own fate.
I had had this book on my TBR for so long and I am having regrets for having waited so long to read it. It gave me all the feels, all the laughs and was highly entertaining. Brucey bonus for me, Sidney Karger's next book is already published.

Best Men is a lighthearted and fun rom-com that delivers plenty of charm and laughs. Sidney Karger creates an enjoyable setting with endearing characters and a sweet, modern love story. The banter between the leads is fun, and their chemistry is undeniable.
However, the plot feels a bit predictable, and the character development didn’t quite match the potential of the premise. While it's an entertaining read, it doesn’t go beyond surface-level emotions or offer much depth.
Overall, it’s a pleasant read for fans of rom-coms, but it doesn’t quite stand out in the genre.

A witty and charming enemies to lovers, I adored the main characters and the tension between them that slowly burned away into a sweet romance. The banter was so good and I found myself laughing out loud at times. A nice, light and fun read, I would recommend Best Men.

I love a queer romcom so I was disappointed that I didn't enjoy this. I didn't like the characters at all even though I liked the storyline, and so it made it very difficult to care what happened and I ended up skimming the book for the most part.
Thank you to the publisher for providing me with a copy.

It sadly didn't work for me, and I had to DNF it. I just couldn’t connect with the characters, which made it difficult to stay invested in the story. While the plot seemed promising, it wasn’t enough to hold my attention. Unfortunately, this one wasn’t for me.

The story itself was really cute but the main character was insufferable and it’s difficult to root for someone who is so unlikeable. This author definitely has talent and the writing was brilliant for a debut. I just need to like my characters in a romance.

unfortunately i had to DNF this book. i really struggled to like and connect to the characters, but the book did have a lot of potential to be brilliant. i’ll definitely try this author again in the future.

First of all a big thank you to the author, Netgalley and the publishers for sending me a copy of this book to read and review.
This was a really easy read however I didn’t connect with the characters or the world. This just didn’t vibe with me but that’s only my opinion. This was super quick to get through and had some really fun moments.

A funny, gay rom-com that most people will love. It is an easy to read story with good banter between the loveable characters. The detail in the book was perfect, I was able to conjure pictures of the settings easily. I felt like this was a fun, escapist novel and the prefect book for summer reading.

I absolutely loved this super cute romcom which was packed with nostalgia, humour, friendship, rivalry and a slow burn budding relationship for Max.
After struggling to get over his ex and make a clean break from that relationship, Max meets a hot guy in a bar and they end up having a bit of a fumble back at his place.
In total embarrassment, Max runs off hoping to never see this guy again!
Cue best friend Paige and her bombshell that she's getting married.
Not only did Max think he'd be first down the aisle, when he turns up to meet the groom and his best man, there stands Chasten, the hot guy from the fumble!
This book had me reading with a constant smile in my face.
There were so many cute moments and I just loved Max's relationship with Paige. Their friendship was so deep but I totally felt for Max as he got jealous of Paige's new relationships.
I loved how all the characters were totally believable (in that New York kind of larger than life way)
The contrast between Max, your average guy with his 9-5 job and little flat and Chasten, with his old money background created a bit of friction - but they made such a great couple and I was rooting for them throughout.
This was such a fun and easy read. Every time I opened it up, I felt like I was sucked in and transported right there with them all.
I thought the addition of the lists at the end of each chapter was a great idea. To do lists, playlists and messaging transcripts kept it modern whilst taking me right back to the 80's - actually sat humming for whole chapters and even popping on the iPod at one point.
Loved this so much - would recommend to everyone for a fun and light read - would be great for the holiday season.

Sharp-witted dialogue, charming, smart characters, and tons of heart, Best Men is such a funny, clever, fresh take on a modern romance. Don’t you just want to grab this, switch off the phone and curl up on the sofa
By far one of my favourite books I've read this year…

An enjoyable funny, cute read with an original premise and unique brand of humour. Lots of funny laugh out loud moments but with a healthy dose of drama and unexpected serious topics touched on.
Definitely worth the read.

I couldn't get on with the characters - which is a me problem, not the writing. 3 stars because i couldn't get into it.

Like Bros in book form, its a sweet, funny and charming book. Obviosuly were rooting for these two to get together and the obstacles thrown in their way and the will they / won't they premise was fun to read. Sweet, cute, charming. Really sweet read.

First, I want to thank Sidney Karger, Harper Collins and Random Things Tours for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.
O.M.G! Sidney Karger had me laughing my booty off in his latest Rom-Com The Best Man!! This was such a fun and easy read for the long holiday weekend.
Sidney would like to dedicate this book to his parents who knew one day he would write a book.
This is one book that made me smile ear to ear! If you know me you know I love all things pop culture. Sidney jam packed his Rom-Com with celebrity names, music group references, etc. Being a HUGE Rascal Flatts fan I was rolling on the floor laughing at the song title mentioned!
The variety of lists in this book were priceless, just so comical and yet so spot on!
I loved the friendship and bond that both Max and Paige had!
Max and I had something in common! Yes, we both wondered what it would be like to kiss Maxwell Caulfield from Grease 2. I admit I watched that movie way too many times to get a glimpse of him…but I loved the music too lol.

This should have honestly been a DNF, but I was bored enough with everything else in life that I just kept reading until the end.
Max Moody is the gay best friend of Paige. So when Paige gets engaged to Austin, Max of course becomes her Best Man. And he meets Chasten, Austin's gay younger brother and Best Man, who gets along great with Paige, sparking Max's jealousy. Will Max and Chasten learn to coexist without making Paige's wedding all about themselves? And might there be a romantic side to their animosity?
There was not a single character in this that I liked. Either the characters were underdeveloped, just there to serve a purpose and nothing more, or they were annoying to the point where I would hate to be stuck with them at a dinner table in real life. Max is unhappy with his career and his life, but that unhappiness infects every single one of his interactions. Honestly, Moody by name and moody by nature. Chasten comes off as a snob and a know-it-all, and except for a late-stage confession it's impossible to tell he's falling for Max. Paige is one of those women who treats her "gay bestie" as a fashionable accessory. I thought we'd left those women behind in 2015, but I guess not. Horrible characters all around.
If you're looking for a "Best Men fall for each other" book, I'm sure there are plenty of better options out there. To classify this book as a romance is an insult to romance novels in general and queer love stories in particular.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.
This was a really fun and actually quite emotional read in places. Max's character was very relatable and I liked that he was basically just a normal guy living in New York rather than some uber rich person (though it was never explained how he afforded to live alone!). The relationships dealt with were realistic, especially the whole 'we're broken up but still hooking up' dynamic (guilty). And I really liked the progression of the friendship between Max and Paige - lifelong friendships can hit some bumps along the way as you both mature and grow. All in all, a romance novel with more behind it than just the romance, which is always great.

Best Men is a slow burn rivals to lovers romance between Max and Chaston, who are both best men at Max’s best friend Paige’s wedding.
Paige appoints Max her Gay of Honour, and seems to think that because he is gay he willbe able to help plan the wedding better than she could.
Chaston and Max know each other from a one night stand, yet Chaston is set on pretending like it never happened. Then they are forced to work together plan a lot of Paige’s wedding, and her bachelorette where we really see a lot of their rivalry!
I found Max to be a rather dislikeable character as he seemed to think everything is about him, and should go his way.
I’m glad that Max spoke up to Paige about being the “Gay Best Friend”, because why should he be labelled as that throughout their entire friendship?
There was quite a lot of drama in this book so I could call it more of a Rom-drama-com book.
I think if I had found Max a more enjoyable character then I would have enjoyed the book more.

Best Men by Sidney Karger is a romantic comedy novel featuring two male leads.
The wonderfully named Max Moody is overjoyed (okay, and also jealous) when his best friend Paige announces her impending nuptials. She's marrying a great guy, and she has asked Max to be her official Gay of Honour (I know, but stay with me here). Max is equally excited and apprehensive - he's not into fashion, he doesn't know designers, and Paige seems to think that just because he's gay that he'll know how to throw a killer bachelorette.
Nothing could be further than the truth - so when a rival Best Man appears in the form of Paige's soon-to-be-brother-in-law Chasten, sparks fly in more than one way: Not only is Chasten a threat to Max's BFF status with Paige, he's also the man Max very nearly had a one-night-stand with.
Can these two rivals learn to put any issues and jealousy behind them to give Paige the wedding of her dreams? Or will it be a fight to the death to take the place of Best Man?
I know, the plot sounds juvenile, and it is, to a degree - but think Bridesmaids rather than My Best Friend's Wedding. Pure silliness but highly enjoyable, and that's how I felt about this. It took me a while to warm to Max's particular brand of humour, but I liked how the story progressed. I wouldn't exactly call it a rom-com - more a rom-com-drama, because there are quite serious issues addressed too, like the aforementioned "Best Gay" moniker.
The notion of the "gay best friend" has become so outdated yet we still see it crop up in books, tv and film. I'm really glad that it was addressed head-on here and I loved the relationship between Paige and Max.
The love story I could take or leave, but it was an enjoyable, cute read. You can tell that the author is an accomplished screenwriter, imho, because it read like a movie (not a bad thing!).

There was a lot to enjoy here: well-rounded characters, a fairly original and intriguing premise, and a rich setting. Ultimately, however, it was just a bit slow-paced for me. It took too long for the core love story to get started, by which point I was struggling to maintain enthusiasm. I can tell that this author is talented, and I look forward to future books.
