Freida, you’ve done it again. I am absolutely mind blown with the plot twists of this book. One right after another and that is no exaggeration. I read this right after The Housemaid so the main character, Millie, was fresh in my mind, along with her history. I could not put this book down, I had to know what was going to happen. I applaud Millie for her independence and her strong will to help women in need and can absolutely see why she was not suspecting Wendy to be the bad guy. I love that she and Enzo ended up together in the end. I loved the final plot twist when I found out she supplied Marybeth with the Digoxin. I was feeling so bad for Millie thinking how will she get herself out of this? But that was the final hoorah and I loved, loved, loved it. I thoroughly enjoy Freida’s writing style and I cannot wait to read more from her in the future. I ended 2022 with two of the best books I’ve read all year and could not be happier with that.

THANK YOU NETGALLEY!!! It all started with The Housemaid and ever since, I've been addicted to Freida McFadden's books. When I had the opportunity to read this one, I was thrilled and I was not disappointed. In fact, I was amazed! It was truly a thriller, I could not put down. The twists and turns were unbelievable and so unexpected. Have way through the book, I thought, what else can possibly happen. It follows the story of Millie, The Housemaid in an amazing way. It's highly recommended, you'll be hooked!

I feel like this series falls on the cozy side of thrillers. There isn't anything complex to the story, but it is a fun, and enjoyable read. I'm torn about Millie as a character. I like her, but then I also don't like her. That makes it kind of hard to be rooting for her at times. Still an entertaining read and I look forward to the next installment.

THE HOUSEMAID'S SECRET BY FREIDA MCFADDEN ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I was lucky enough to win an advanced reader copy of this book due to be released on February 2023. This book is written as a sequel to The Housemaid but can also be read as a stand alone. I read The Housemaid again before reading this because I wanted to refresh my memory about the story. The twists and turns in this had me questioning everything. I couldn't praise McFadden more because everytine I read a book of hers it truly shocks me. It's fast paced and I couldn't put it down. All I can really say is to expect the unexpected.....

I loved The Housemaid and Millie was a great character but this was disappointing. The characters were annoying, Millie became someone unlikeable. I found it to be very repetitive throughout and rolled my eyes several time. It was OK but nowhere near as good as the Housemaid.

All of frieda's books are amazing and yet again this book did not disappoint. I expected this book to pick up where the last one left off and was surprised when the two didn't combine like I imagined. There were parts where she hinted at the first book however. With that being said I feel like it could be a stand alone. It kept you guessing. Made you mistrust the wrong people. And hold your breathe as you hastily flip the pages...

You know some books are best left as a standalone. No need for a follow up or a 'what next?' cause you basically don't really need more. This is one of those such books.

I loved The Housemaid. It was unrealisitic but intense and fun. Unputdownable cause the mystery was twistedly weaved. And the ending left us readers with enough answered. So when i saw there was a sequel, i was wondering what else can be done?

Our MC, Millie is back here. She still cleans houses for the insanely rich in New York. Picking up a while from where we left her off in the first book. She's picked up the pieces from the previous trauma and is even back in school. This time, she was hired by another rich husband and wife pair. No kids, not much work. In fact, most of the time she will be left to do chores and errands on her own as the husband will be at work while the wife, well somehow she's always just cooped up in the room with the excuse of being unwell. But things are definitely not as it seems cause Millie will come to work and see blood stains around the house and hear whimpering and crying from behind the room doors. What's going on with this couple?

I feel the writing in this sequel had more of a 'rush to put out' feel. It felt more juvenile and wasn't as polished as the first. It wasn't as intense and the unrealisitic level went overboard to trump the previous one. It felt more like a made for tv msytery thriller, honestly. The twists also came across more like something shoved for the sake of it. I didn't like any of characters, not even Millie who seemed too self absorbed this time. Ok, maybe Enzo cause he is one funny Italian. (Brocolli?!)

Judging from other reviews, i am in the minority with this one. But i finished this quick thriller feeling rather meh. Thank you @netgalley and Bookouture for the e-ARC.

Just like the first, I absolutely loved this book! Freida McFadden is a very talented writer. Unfortunately, I found the first half to be quite predictable, and therefore felt the need to knock off a star. I just knew she was being set up and I prefer a book that leaves me guessing. That being said, the second half did not disappoint!

Millie is back a few years later and cleaning for another crazy family. For years in between the first and second book, she spent her time, with the help of her boyfriend Enzo, helping women escape from bad relationships and abusive living situations. This is the first one she attempts alone, and it seemed to go extremely smooth, but she quickly realizes she was being framed the entire time. But if you know Millie from the first novel, you know she will never go down without a fight!

I love how it all unfolded in the end. The antagonist thought she got away with it and was high on life, all for it to just come crashing down in the end and Millie gets awesome revenge! As usual, with Freida, I highly recommend this fun and twisty thriller!

Thank you for this ARC that was generously provided by the publisher and author via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Freida does no wrong. Everything she writes is pure gold!

Millie is back! She's living in the Bronx and cleaning for a woman named Amber. She sometimes babysits for Amber's 9 month-old daughter who has taken to calling Millie "mama". Unfortunately, Amber doesn't like this and fires Millie. On the job hunt, Millie decides to post an add for her housekeeping services. Shortly after, she gets a call from Douglas Garrick, the CEO of a tech company to clean his penthouse. Douglas' wife Wendy is "sick" and stays to herself in her bedroom. Soon Millie discovers that Wendy is covered in bruises and insinuates that Douglas is abusive. Millie decides to help Wendy escape. Everything just gets better from here.

One of my favorite parts of the book is that Enzo comes back! Millie is currently dating a lawyer named Brock who is in love with her (yet she's not over Enzo). Enzo continuously calls him "Broccoli" which made me literally laugh out loud.

Even up to the very end, Freida keeps you guessing! Another instant hit!

This sequel is set a few years after the previous book with Millie finding a new job working in the home of a wealthy family. She’s not a live-in employee but as she spends more and more time there, she gets a familiar feeling in her gut. The husband tells her to keep away from the wife, who is there all the time but stays shut up in the guest bedroom. Anyone can see where this is going, so you know there has to be more to the situation than just a controlling husband. And there certainly is, in the typical twisty format of this author.

The reader is led to believe that the situation is explained and sorted quickly but when you still have half of the book left, you know it won’t be that easy. True to form, the author throws in good twists just when a resolution seems imminent. Whether you’ve figured out what’s going on or not is almost beside the point, as the story naturally flows fast and furiously. You will not want to put the book down until you have all of your questions answered and everything figured out. You will not be disappointed, except when you realize you’ll have to wait for the next book by this amazing author!

Millie is back and is working for another wealthy family who clearly have some hidden family issues that she is not to know about! She cleans their penthouse apartment a few days a week but there is one room that she will never clean, a room where Wendy Garrick is recovering from an "illness".

If you read the Housemaid and loved it, you are sure to love this!

I read this book in 24 hours and thoroughly enjoyed it, although a little repetitive and predictable at times. Would love to read more from Millie and Enzo and how they are helping people from difficult relationships!

You can always keep guessing but you will never get it right....Freida has the ability to keep you up on your toes all night with her books. She has started a cult with her novels and this one is no exception. A follow up to her previous novel, this brings you right back into the "housemaid's" storyline and you find yourself rooting for her.

What an utterly fantastic storyline that will keep you turning the pages! I loved all of the twists and turns in this book as housemaid, Millie Calloway, loses one job and then gets hired immediately by millionaire Douglas Garrick and his wife Wendy. Wendy seems to be hidden away behind a closed door until finally Millie gets her to open the door and she is horrified by what she sees. This book is full of twists, turns and surprises and you will not want to put it down.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC of this page-turner that I thoroughly enjoyed. I am looking forward to the next Freida McFadden book because she does not disappoint.

If you loved The Housemaid, you NEED to read The Housemaid's Secret! Thank you Freida for giving us another thriller with Millie! The Housemaid was one of my TOP reads for 2022 so I couldn't wait to read more! This is a very good, popcorn thriller. If you are a seasoned Freida reader, you may get a little antsy like I did waiting for the BIG gasp. I felt like it took a little too long to get there and I was getting a tiny bit bored and annoyed with Millie, but she still did it. Freida still delivered and I had that BIG gasp. There are several twists to keep you entertained near the end of this one and Millie remains one of the best characters Freida has written! A solid 4 stars from me! Thank you Netgalley, Bookouture and Freida for the opportunity to read and review this ARC!

After loving The Housemaid I was so excited to get this ARC from NetGalley.

I devoured this, it was another gripping read from Freida McFadden.

Millie gets a housekeeping job with The Garrick's. Douglas tells Millie that his wife Wendy isn't well & that Millie mustn't disturb her. Millie is intrigued & soon realises something isn't right but does her inquisitiveness pay off?

Absolutely loved this, it was fast paced, my heart was in my mouth at places & I shouted at Millie in my head a few times!
