DNF.
I feel like this book could have been smaller, it takes a lot of time for the plot to actually start developing. I really liked the premise thought, and enjoyed the first few chapters, but then it felt like it was just going in circles and nothing was actually happening, and I started to read it for obligation rather than enjoyment. Good story, but it needed to be more refined in my opinion.

3 stars because I didn't finished.

I haven't finished this book yet. I dont think I will. I have read about a quarter of this book and It is just in the last few pages gotten to the crux of the matter. I understand that this is for middle grade but the writing seems like it was written by a 12 year old as well. I am finding it hard to stay inspired to read it. And I love middle grade books and fantasy. It seemed like an interesting premise and maybe one day Ill read it again but as of right now I cannot bring myself to finish this bookl

This is the intriguing and entertaining start of a fantasy series. The author is a good storyteller, the world building is interesting and i liked the characters.
Want to read the rest of the series.
