The bright illustrations in this book will attract readers as will the smart, loving, mentor teacher shark in the book. He gives the message that no matter what we do, if we do it with passion, it matters more than how successful we are at the task.

This colourful picture book tells the story of a shark named Baroni who is a bit forgetful and enjoys exploring the sea and reading. One day he forgets his glasses and also forgets to eat lunch so he searches for some spaghetti and treasure for lunch. The story is written by an 8 year old, and definitely reads like it was written by and for someone in this age group, there are farts and sneezes that cause craziness under water and some interesting plot lines. The font is quite hard to read at times and changes colour repeatedly. The illustrations are bright and colourful and will definitely captivate the reader. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read this book.

Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this was weak. My lot is made even worse by the fact this is a schoolchild's story, ie one written by one, not just one for them. The reality of it has to be addressed, however, that the story is very uneven, and often we get a really peculiar turn of phrase that just isn't how we actually speak and write in English. We start with the fact some humans are looking for a ship load of treasure, but when that's found nothing happens – until, that is, we're introduced to a shark that is full of heart and goodwill, and ends up eating it… The narrative is off-kilter, and the script really needed editing and supervision, for it's mighty important that correct and common English is what the target audience is subject to, else we might as well give up. That and the fact the vocab has some bizarre choices for a pictorial early reader like this really makes me fail to recommend it. What I have to close with though is something much less controversial – that the artwork is simply stunning, and no publisher worth their salt should have second thoughts about employing the artist behind it all.

4 Stars ⭐️

Im reviewing this story, keeping in mind that it was wrote by an 8 year old author. It's a great start, I think young kids would enjoy it.

The essence of the story is about a shark who forgot his glasses. Mistakenly eats a lost treasure. Then has an upset tummy, resulting in crazy toots that makes waves in the ocean. He then sneezes up all the gems, spreading glitters all over the ocean floor.

It's very creative story and the thought of a shark tooting all over the place would be something my kids would find hilarious.

This young author has great potential.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sterna Paradisaea for this advance reader copy. My review is voluntarily my own.

I will be posting my review to retailer sites at the time of publication.

Shark Baroni And The Stars In The Sea by Leron Mika'lL Haun - 5/5

This is a charming story of a magical water world being looked after by Shark Baroni. He knows all and sees all this place and on a normal day something new catches his eye.
This was a great story, all the colors and illustrations on the pages gave us something to look and play I Spy. Great story and my littles were beyond amazed when I told them it was written by an 8-year-old. That made their entire night and had them thinking they could write a story as well.

I was surprised by this story but then I saw it was done by an 8 year old! So the random train of thoughts/ideas made more sense. I wish the art had been more like the cover because I thought that was so cute! But inside it was more computery looking.
