Ancient Vengeance is the 6th in the Ancients Rising series. Rhodes is hired by the fae to kidnap dragon princess Stella, but his plans quickly change when he sees her and realizes she is his fated mate. This story is steamy and action packed as the shifters, vampires and fae work to rebuild New Orleans after The Fall, and protect it from those that seek to destroy them.

I devoured this in 1 day! I hadn’t been back to this world in ages but fell right back in quickly. I enjoyed seeing peeks of some of our favorites from previous books. If you haven’t had a chance to read any of this authors work, go back to the beginning and thank me later!

Includes spoilers!

I’m not sure how I felt about this book.

I felt that I was missing something whilst I was reading it maybe I should have read some of the previous books. For me in the 213 pages, the story felt rushed, everything happened so quickly from them falling in love to kidnapping and overcoming the lies. I would have preferred things to take a little longer.

But I would still recommend reading, just because it didn’t work for me doesn’t mean it won’t work for you.

This is the second book in the series and follows the story of Stella and Rhodes. Stella is the younger sister of Juniper from the first book. This can be read as a standalone as the beginning of the story has a basic catch up of the world and history.

Rhodes has been tasked with taking princess Stella... and his employers are not fussy about her condition. Not that long ago, her parents opened their realm and formed an alliance with New Orleans. Stella's long lost sister had been in New Orleans before returning home. Stella yearns for the adventure of travelling since she was very much overprotected by her family. However, she runs into trouble on her way to New Orleans and is lucky Rhodes is there to help her. He had already decided not to harm her upon seeing her and is now completely smitten.

Rhodes is the ultimate protector and is so delightfully broody! Of course, when his deception about his true mission comes to light, Stella has to come to terms with his nature.

Ancient Vengeance moves at a fast pace and that was not a lot of downtime or unnecessary plot elements in the store. The heroine was a strong lead that held her ground and grew into a strong person who could stand on her own. I enjoyed the hero, but wished we could have learned more about him (hoping for this in future books). Overall, a good read.

It must be going on for a year since I read the previous book Ancient Retribution. I’d forgotten how much I enjoy these books and how I’d missed the characters.
Let’s just say it’s good to be back in their world.

This starts in the Nova realm and it’s the turn of Junipers sister Stella. Stella has been sheltered her entire life, she is also small considering she’s a dragon. This is often mistaken for weakness.

Rhodes is an assassin contracted to kidnap the princess. He’s been told she’s evil but immediately he knows this isn’t true. He also knows he’s completely fascinated with her.

I really enjoyed this one and it was great to touch base again with the New Orleans crew. Now I can’t wait for the next book, hopefully I won’t have to wait so long.

I voluntarily read a review copy kindly provided by the publisher and NetGalley.

A lost sister has return, celebration were held. Stella the younger, thought a
chance now to spread her wings, and freedom. Others plan on kidnapping her.
Rhodes new to this realm, an assassin by trade, a good dragon, rescues her.
A loner, and he falls for this princess, could it be possible when she finds he was
not always truthful to her. A good series readers will enjoy this realm of magic.

This series just gets better and better! Katie Reus continues to deliver amazing paranormal romance in her Ancients Rising series. Dragon shifters, lion shifters, phoenix, vampires and fae…this series has it all.

In Ancient Vengeance, we get to watch sheltered dragon shifter Stella from the Nova realm fall in love with Rhodes, a lone dragon shifter turned assassin. I definitely had all the feels during this one…great chemistry, deep angst and betrayal, and always a happily ever after. The only thing I might have wished for was for Rhodes to find our more of his heritage, but here’s hoping that will be addressed in a future book.

While it could be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the Ancients Rising series in order as there is such world building in this and the “prequel” Darkness series. These are definitely some of my favorite PNR books and often get a re-read.

I received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

Sexy and HOT!!!!! this book is a winner.! Stella is a princess from another realm who is tasked with traveling to New Orleans in search of a missing crown. She insists on the opportunity to travel without guards and, when disaster occurs, her first thought is that her parents ignored her and sent a guard anyway.. She doesn't know that her "guard" is actually her would be assassin.

This is a very sexy love story with lots of action and dragon fights, along with a few crispy fae. Rhodes, the would be assassin, finds himself immediately smitten with Stella. He makes himself her protector and champion. When feelings develop, he's in over his head and doesn't know how to tell the truth.

Fans of the genre will love this book. The characters are engaging and endearing. They kept me turning pages just as quickly as possible. This one is a must read. The author is on my must read authors' list.

4 stars - It was really good

Stella is determined to leave her realm and get some freedom from their smothering protectiveness. But her trip to New Orleans doesn’t go as planned and she finds herself with a protective bodyguard who she can’t get enough of, but isn’t telling the whole truth.

I really enjoyed Stella and Rhodes’ story. Stella is Juniper’s (Ancient Retribution) younger sister and is tired of being secluded and protected from the world. She is a smart, capable, and determined woman who just wants to actually experience life. I loved seeing Stella embrace life in New Orleans and learn to stand on her own capabilities.

“...she is my world and I will do anything to keep her safe and protected-not that my female needs it as she is fierce.”

Rhodes is an assassin who was tasked with kidnapping Stella. Instead he realizes she is his mate and does everything he can to protect her. Rhodes was extremely protective of Stella and made that known any time a male was around, but he never felt overbearing because he respected Stella and her ability to keep herself safe. While there is some strife between these two towards the end, I think it all played out perfectly for the situation. These two had a wonderful and very strong bond from the very beginning and I loved seeing them get their HEA.

Overall, this was another wonderful addition to this series. I love that we are getting to know a lot of the main characters that are shaping this new version of New Orleans. But, I really need Christian to admit his feelings for a certain lion and stop killing me with all the wait.

Trigger Warnings: torture, poisoning, brief mention of mass death from a natural disaster

Stella, a dragon shifter, has decided to make changes after her sister, whom they thought was dead, comes back to them. Their realm, which has been closed off, has opened back up and she is going to New Orleans to look for the family’s crown. Rhodes is an assassin and is contracted by the fae to kidnap Stella. He follows her first but she’s not what they said she was. She is about to go through a portal when she is shot with poison darts. Rhodes rescues her and takes her to the healer in New Orleans. Stella thinks he’s a bodyguard sent by her family but he doesn’t tell her anything different. Can she forgive him for lying to her because he will do anything to protect her?

I loved Stella and Rhodes. Sexy. A little suspense. Action. A woman just wanting to spread her wings. A man who is a loner and falls for a princess.

Stella and Rhodes are my favorite couple so far.

He was sent to kidnap her but saved her instead.
He’s an assassin for hire. But deep down he’s a good dragon.

Because he wouldn’t be kidnapping her. His dragon had decided to keep her instead.

Stella has been under the thumb of her parents and she’s ready to break free. She is attacked and saved by a dragon she thinks was sent to guard her.

“I want you wearing my clothes, my scent all over you.”

This series just keeps me coming back for more. I’m so looking forward to what comes next.

Exciting. Suspenseful. Heartbreaking. Jaw Dropping. These are only a few that describe this book. The story continued and the suspense and surprises were more engulfing then the first book. . My heart pounded at times, I cried a few times, I held my breath and I felt relief. The ending was remarkable and unforgettable.
