Another amazing book written by Karen,

Cold blooded liar follows Kit McKittrick as she attempts to solve them users of up to 8 young girls. With Baz Constantine by her side, she follows her gut instincts on a psychiatrist named Sam Reeves. All he is trying to do is help.

Kit and Baz follow the leads given and uncover one of the bodies. This begins their chase.

When there’s a spanner thrown into their investigation they are thrown off course.

Who knew the twist at the end?

I honestly thought I’d worked out the accomplice early on in the book but how wrong was I! I read this easily in 2 sittings and I can’t wait for the next instalment!

I love this Author's books and this latest did not disappoint - The first in what seems to be a new mini series is full of twists and turns , bodies turning up regularly and a slow burn attraction that impacts on the investigation makes for an entertaining read .

San Diego , homicide detective , Kit McKittrick receives an anonymous phone call indicating the position of a buried body ......... a body of a young , small , blond haired woman , her hands held together in pink , sparkly handcuffs .
This is the 5th such body found by accident over the last 15 years - they have a serial killer on their hands .

Sam Reeves is a Court appointed psychologist who's latest patient has severe anger management issues and is a pathological liar ............... during his sessions he has takento dropping hints about unsolved murders of young women.... is he telling the truth or is he lying yet again ? Unable to inform the authorities without breaking patient confidentiality Sam makes an anonymous call to a detective - Kit McKittrick
Kit soon discovers Sam's involvement and despite wanting to believe him she has to treat him as a suspect - he knows too much about the murder
As the investigation continues into the latest discovery attempts are also being made to discover the identities of the bodies yet to be named ............ Sam , frustrated at the lack of progress has decided to conduct his own investigation - one he should have left alone because when a new body is found , that of his dog walker , he has no alibi ............ is someone setting him up ?
Kit , Sam and their colleagues and friends are at a loss - just when they think they have the killer identified ,doubts as to whether he worked alone arise - just who is the real killer ?
He might be closer to home than they realise !!!

I look forward to reading more about Kit and Sam in the future

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

Cold Blooded Liar by Karen Rose

Detective Kit McKittrick works homicide in the hope that one day she will find out what happened to her foster sister, Wren. When a tip comes in from an anonymous caller it leads her to the body of a girl whose murder has the hallmarks of a serial killer that has been at large for almost twenty years. It also leads her to the source of the information: Dr Sam Reeves.
Karen Rose has done it again by coming up with such a brilliant character in Detective Kit McKittrick and her determination to one day solve the mystery on the disappearance of her foster sister..
A gripping plot with a few twists along the way. Great ending.

This was a fantastic crime read with a memorable protagonist in Kit, the homicide detective who decided to join the police after the death of her foster sister aged fifteen and who has a reputation for solving cold cases along with the current ones. I loved how her current case involved a long time serial killer so there was a lot of history but a lot of current events too including a pathological liar who it’s really hard to tell if he is the key to this or not. Kit herself is a solid character who trusts few people so it was interesting to see how she responded to someone she instinctively liked, going against all her natural tendencies, yet isn’t sure if he is involved with the murders. The crime itself was really well told, the characters were varied but with great dynamics and it felt, I hope, that this is gearing up to be a series, if so it’s a fantastic start and I’d definitely read more. 9/10
