Princess Fuzzypants here: It took me a while to get into the book. I think the fact that it was the second instalment of a series that I had not read played a part. I had to orientate myself with the characters and the feel of the story. I also found myself miffed a bit by some of the text. It seemed there were better words that could have been used from time to time to describe something. The words used was close but just a tad off but by the time I got drawn into the story, I could have cared less.

When I was caught it was by the scruff of the neck and it did not let go. I got so involved in the story that I was disappointed by the cliffhangers at the end of the book. Clearly there is a third book that will clarify some of the loose ends but it did also finish with an intriguing reunion. I am not going to tell more because I want you to have the fun of discovering it all on your own.

I enjoyed how our recent times of the Pandemic were woven into the tale and how the cat society and the rat society were introduced to each other and how they had to walk a tightrope towards understanding. Humans could benefit from their wisdom. The murder took place in the rat community. At first even Jack is not sure how culpable the rats might be. But together, gingerly, they explored their competing needs and found common ground. Together they find the killer. But even with his demise, the threat is still looming large as ever. I am looking forward to seeing where this all goes.

Four purrs and two paws up.

The idea of a cat solving mysteries was something that appealed to me. I sometimes like stories that are told from the perspective of an animal, so I was hoping that this would be a fun book.

I thought this was a sweet story - fun, entertaining and quirky. It had a kind of simplicity and light-hearted tone that I found endearing, and it made me smile.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for a free copy to review.

An enjoyable book that I can see especially appealing to kids. In some parts I thought the writing was a little awkward and there was too much repetition for my liking but overall not a bad read.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in return for an honest opinion.

I think there's a lot of potential and the characters are lovely. Some more editing would help as the plot flows.
I give it 4 stars as I loved Jack.
Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine

Tried to read this. Really wanted to like it. Unfortunately, I couldn't get past a book about a cat being referred to as an "it." Such a bummer

I got this as an ARC.

I had to DNF after the first chapter. It is so poorly written and formatted that it is obviously done by someone who doesn't understand how to create a professional product. There are spelling errors on the first page, weird grammatical choices and the book reads as if it is written by a talented middle schooler. And I say that as a former English teacher who often graded stories written by middle schoolers.

If you have stories to tell. Get help. Find yourself a developmental editor and take writing classes to learn how to create better prose and pacing.

I am not going to slander this obvious amateur around the internet. I'm only submitting this review here.
