This is the first book in a series by Stacy Green. The book is full of twists and turns. Just when you think you have it figured out the story heads off in another direction. Definitely a page turner. Looking forward to the rest of the books in the series. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the copy of The Girl In The Pink Shoes. This is the first book in the Lucy Kendall series. This is NOT a series to read out of order! I read the second book first, and this book was good, but I’m not sure I would have gotten and read the rest of the series if I had read this one first. It explains the complex backstories of Chris, Todd, and Justin and Lucy’s relationship with each of them. The backstories are compelling, but the writing feels so cold and removed it doesn’t do them justice. If you want a vigilante main character who breaks all the rules, you will probably love this series. If you want great writing and deep characters, It might not be for you.

I've been meaning to try this author for quite some time now, so when I saw that her Lucy Kendall series was going to be republished I couldn't resist looking into it. And I have to say that I was sold as soon as I read the blurb. I love crime thrillers with an unique touch, and The Girl In The Pink Shoes definitely seems to promise that (although I admit the old blurb is more enticing and fits the story better). And boy, what a rollercoaster ride it turned out to be! Seriously twisted, original, highly entertaining and not a story you will forget easily.

While it's true that things can be said about the credibility of it all, I personally didn't mind because the entertainment factor was high. On top of this, the plot itself is very original, which is always a bonus as it's hard to find refreshing angles with the amount of crime thrillers I read. And another bonus: the story is told by a main character that is both a serial killer and basically a sociopath, but she doesn't see herself that way. How on earth can you resist such a POV? I know I didn't... It adds so much flavor to the story, as well as the whole moral dilemma and question whether you should root for her or condemn her.

The Girl In The Pink Shoes has a lot of focus on child abuse and abuse in general, and there are also references to mental health and suicide. The main focus is on child abuse though, and how the system often fails to protect children and lets abusers go free. Things can get pretty gritty on that account, so trigger warnings are in place! Apart from main character Lucy doing her thing (private detective slash executioner), the plot also focuses on the disappearance of a little girl. This storyline isn't as present as the blurb might make it seem like, although the case is always in the background while Lucy follows a variety of leads.

I think this is one of those stories where it's best to go in without knowing too much about it... Just make sure to brace yourself for a seriously twisted, disturbing and unique ride. And after that ending in The Girl In The Pink Shoes, I definitely can't wait to see what the sequel will bring!

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I am HOOKED! The author drew my interest in from the very beginning and I love all of the plot twists throughout. I cannot wait to read subsequent books in this series. I love that this book was written from a unique point of view. As a mom I was sitting on the edge of my seat with each page turn, holding my 7 year old daughter close to me. Stacy really brought the characters to life and I felt myself getting sucked right into the story from the very beginning.

The first in a new series featuring PI Lucy Kendall. Lucy used to be a child protective services worker, but quit when she felt like too many offenders were slipping through the cracks. Now she is a PI who metes out her own form of vigilante justice. When a young girl goes missing across the street from one of Lucy’s notorious offenders, she is convinced he is guilty. It doesn’t help his brother is one of the detectives looking for the girl. Regardless, Lucy is determined to find the girl before it’s too late.

At first this book started out weird (it starts out more with vigilante Justice than with crime) and I had to double check I was reading the right book. However, once it got going, I really enjoyed it! I think Lucy is a complex protagonist, and readers were left with a lingering villain. I’m really looking forward to seeing where this series goes!

I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was a very gripping read.
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable.
Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuously.
A page turner that held my attention throughout because it is fast-paced and keeps the story moving relentlessly to the end.

This book was sent to me by Netgalley electronically for review. Thanks to the publisher and the author. The protagonist tries to make things right but in a way that is not legal. That is problematic. This talented author has written a cannot put down novel. This is a page turner. It is dark at times. At other times, it is so fascinating that it is impossible to stop reading.

Great start to a fascinating new series. I have to admit that I adore "serial-killer-in-the-name-of-justice" vibes so I was drawn in immediately. Lucy Kendall has a tough past and is channeling her feelings of guilt and anger into vigilante justice toward criminals. While I would never condone this in the real world, it is kind of a nice escape to think about fictional people that fooled the justice system paying for their crimes. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

I received an advance review copy for free through NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
