Lucy Kendall is one bad-assed private investigator. Due to things that happened in her past, she has become somewhat of a vigilante. Though she is tormented by what she does, she can’t stop. While what she does seems extreme, you can’t but wonder if what she does is really not that bad. I don’t like sharing too much in my reviews with spoilers so I’ll leave it up to you to decide how you feel about her form of vigilantism.
Just know with going into reading The Girl in the PInk Shoes, you will experience all emotions. I went from upset to sad to horrified to disbelief…..and thats not saying everything I felt. It is a dark, psychological suspense thriller with very brutal elements throughout the story.
Is this an easy read? Definitely not but it is gripping and really makes you think/wonder about her form of justice.
Stacy Green always delivers a solid plot and this one did not disappoint. I hope to read the next books in the series.
Many thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and author, Stacy Green, for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Holy Moly I had no idea who the baddie was or how many players were in this story.
On a hot 38c/100f Aussie Summer day I just settled on the couch and read this story straight through.
I must say I'm already looking forward to reading much more of this series. PI Lucy is one kicka#e heroine, though perhaps bad for good reasons too. Question is do I love her or hate her, time will tell.
The characters had so many connections as the author brilliantly wove this tale, I was thinking omg, it's him...no it's him...oh it's her...nope it's someone else and my head was spinning.
Fantastic story, great characters and a well written plot. Bring on book 2....oh wait it's on my kindle :)

This is my first book my Leanne Kale Sparks and will not be my last! The main character Lucy is interesting she has many sides to her I really liked her! She’s a character that stays with you and you want to know more about her and what she’s doing. I’ve never read a book like this one before so it was something new and different I know what she does is wrong but I can’t help but be ok with it and hope she’s ok and doesn’t get caught. I like the side characters too they were all well written and felt like main characters which I like i now want to know more about them. The plot was interesting with lots of twists I didn’t see coming a young girl was kidnapped and I couldn’t guess by who so that was a surprise. I didn’t see a lot of the story coming it was one shock after another which meant I couldn’t put the book down and read it all night. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend to anyone who’s after a crazy different mind blowing book with a great plot and brilliant characters which leave you wanting more!

I am still trying to process what I just read.
I feel there should be a trigger warning for anyone who might read this who has been a child sexual assault victim (like myself), and definitely a warning for descriptions of suicide and death.
Lucy Kendall. What do I say? Her determination is admirable. Her reasoning is understandable. But Is she becoming heartless?
I was so glad she came to her senses about Justin's offer. I'd kind of like to see Lucy and Todd hook up. Definitely not with Chris. He's almost as damaged as Justin.
It's so weird because I was dreaming about a vigilante serial killer a few days ago and then I started reading this and had a moment where I wondered if I was psychic.
It took me a minute, but I guessed the kidnapper before the end of the book.
I do hope Mother Mary remains a target for Todd and Lucy, but that she gets her just desserts sooner rather than later.
I can't wait to read the next one.

Private Investigator, Lucy Kendall is a modern day vigilante, her method of punishment is death! Our own female Dexter I suppose, just thankfully her methods are less gory ;)

A little girl, Kailey, goes missing and Lucy gets involved, She starts realising that this disappearance could be linked to an old case of hers (from when she worked as a CPS official) and she wants to get to the bottom of it, before Kailey either turns up dead, or another little girl goes missing.....

I really enjoyed The Girl in the Pink Shoes. The writing was good, it flowed well.....and I found the pace to be pretty good. I also really like all the characters.. I feel the author really brought them all to life on the pages. The book deals with some tough issues around child pornography, child abuse, and and....so if you don't like reading about those topics, you should definitely stay away.

I did feel that there was a lot that worked in Lucy's favour, a lot of coincidences in the story....but if you can get past some of the unbelievable points, I think you would enjoy the story. I can see this making a really good movie/series.

Green ropes you in from the first pages and keeps you guessing on what will happen next. Following Lucy Kendall as she deals with her past and tries to make up for past sins truly gives you something to think about. Also, seeing her relationships with the various characters and how she balances her feelings toward them helps you to understand her internal struggles.

For starters, the lack of sleep this book caused me is truly astounding. I could not tear myself away! Vigilante justice is something frequently used in plot lines, however this was expertly crafted. The twists and turns are abundant and unexpected and had me up past 1am every night needing to know more. I can not wait to read the rest of this series, absolutely enthralling!

The Girl in the Pink Shoes (A Lucy Kendall Crime Thriller Book 1)
Pub Date 30 Jan 2023
Bookouture
General Fiction (Adult) | Mystery & Thrillers

I am reviewing a copy of The Girl in the Pink Shoes through Bookouture and Netgalley:

This morning my Baby girl was so excited for school. She had the new sparkly pink
Shoes I bought her last night. She loved them so much. She wore them for the first time today. And now she is gone.

Eight-year-old Kailey Richardson skips out of the school gates in her brand-new pink shoes and never makes it home. It's every Mothers worst nightmare. Between the school and the safety of her shiny red front door, someone has taken her.

Lucy Kendall is a private investigator. She sees the fliers of a smiling gap-toothed Kailey and knows she won’t be able to sleep until the little girl is found. Having lost her own sister to the darkest evil, she is determined to help find Kailey before it is too late.

Lucy begins talking to Kailey’s friends, desperate to find out who has taken the happy little girl, she begins to form a worrying picture of the days before Kailey’s disappearance. The blue car idling in the street outside the school. The friendly man across the road. And Kailey’s mother, Jenna, hollow-eyed and jumpy, clutching Kailey’s teddy bear and not telling Lucy everything.

Lucy made a promise to Jenna that she will do everything to find her daughter. But then she discovers Jenna has a connection to the prime suspect in Kailey’s disappearance… and one which brings Lucy’s past rushing back to haunt her. Time is running out to find Kailey, but will Lucy be able to save this innocent little girl before her own demons destroy her?

I give The Girl in the Pink Shoes five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

A heartbreaking read because of the sensitive nature of the storyline.

I feel this is like a cross between a young Miss Marple and Dexter.. Loved it
I stayed up late into the night listening to the audiobook n reading at the same time… it was Amazing.

This is an absorbing fast paced read, full of twists and turns.
Keeps you on your toes, This enthralling page turner builds up so well keeping your interest in right to the very end just to know what was coming next. Loved the ending.

I am a big fan of the Nikki Hunt series by this author so I was thrilled to have the chance for the beginning of another series.

Lucy Kendall is a CPS worker turned PI. She is very invested in cases of child abuse and felt she could not do enough at CPS due to their guidelines.

Lucy is in control now and she won't give up until things are done to her satisfaction. Lucy feels as many do about "taking out the trash".

I liked her unique character and the other characters had depth as well. I can't wait to see what she will do next and which characters will carry over into the next installment.

Off to read book 2 in the series!

The Girl in the Pink Shoes was a really good story, a good thriller without too many surprises but which still hold the interest of the reader untill the end. The plot was good, I was not used to reading books about child kidnapping.
What's really interesting about this book is the complexity of the protagonist. It's quite refreshing to live the story through a not-so-perfect character.
I would really like to read the following books and discover how Lucy will take down this awful network.

I really enjoyed the first book in the Lucy Kendall series! Different to other police detective procedurals, I was gripped right from the start.

I love this re-branding. The cover is perfect and the story is even better.
I knew I had to check her out when I saw she was from Iowa, I really enjoyed this book.
There were a couple spots that I predicted what would happen but overall it is an amazing story! I can’t wait to see what’s next!

The Girl In the Pink Shoes is the first novel in the Lucy Kendall series. Lucy is a prior CPS investigator turned private investigator. The cases that Lucy investigates are those where criminals (typically those that prey on children), go free or unpunished. Lucy is trying to make amends for the trauma her sister endured as a child. In this story, an 8 year old, girl leaves her school at the end of the day and never makes it home. There is a surprising underworld that is explored in this story and we learn about child abusers of all kinds. Lucy is unrelenting and will stop at nothing to get her man. I would have liked to have gotten to know Lucy’s assistant a little better throughout the book. I devoured this book and can’t wait to read more by this author. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advance review copy in exchange for my honest review.

Captivating female vigilante😍

Formerly published with title All Good Deeds

I was already a fan of Stacy Green's Nikki Hunt series and this one was on par with it if not even more compelling. With a Philadelphia Child Protection Services social worker who resigns and turns executioner for those child predators that the justice system lets slip back into the mainstream to abuse another day, Lucy Kendall is a strong female lead protagonist driven but fatalistic about her likely unsavoury end as she takes the law into her own hands.

This is a complex mix of tragic abuse of past and present and its many victims. It's mesmerizing with abusers, male or female, and Lucy working around the police to bring justice and find an innocent missing girl. Lucy herself has suffered the repercussions of an older sister who took her own life after abuse by her mother's boyfriend.

I can't think of any negatives, only kudos for this thrilling novel. I intend to read the whole series now to see how some unresolved threads turn out. But the central child disappearance case is resolved with no cliffhanger.

This series is a republication and facelift with new titles for the original Lucy Kendall series issue almost a decade ago. Often I find the earlier works of an author less polished. That is not so in this case!

Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

I love Stacy Green's Nikki Hunt Series - one of my absolute favorites! The Girl in the Pink Shoes is another character series: Lucy Kendall. She's a former social worker who is now a PI with a special set of skills. She is especially interested in protecting children from abuse. In this book, a young girl has been taken, and Lucy convinces Kailey's mom to let her help find her. Lucy comes with an array of contacts - some of the best supporting characters around. I enjoyed the book and will definitely dive further into Ms. Green's Lucy Kendall series.

I really like Stacy Green and enjoyed immensely her Nikki Hunt series set in the remote forests of Stillwater, Minnesota. Living in the UK and never having visited Minnesota and their remote villages, I really enjoyed the series and the setting., I was there with Nikki, vividly all the way!
This new series introduces us to her new character Lucy Kendall who is a private investigator, former CPS case worker. Lucy's devotion to fighting for children's abuse goes over and beyond as she decided to choose the vigilante path... I was very sceptical in the beginning when I discovered the vigilante aspect of the mystery story as I do not enjoy them generally but I trusted the author and her emotional intelligence proved in the previous series that I read. I was not disappointed... This vigilante story is not as straightforward as it seems and roots itself from a personal dark past which the author explores with much empathy.
The main crime environment involving children's sexual abuse and paedophilia is hard to read sometimes but covered well.
The mystery plot is fantastic and the whodunit aspect is first class. I literally was suspecting everyone and could not decide on a culprit right till the end. Very well done!
Really looking forward to the next instalment of the series...
