This is the third book in the Lucy Kendall series by author Stacy Green. It has taken me awhile to get to grips with this series but by the end of the last book I was felt that I was finally there. Former CPS worker turned Private Investigator, Lucy Kendall is a very complex character and I now feel the connection many others felt a lot earlier than me.

The body of a sixteen-year-old girl is found in a remote hunting cabin in the middle of the snowy Maryland. There are handprints around her neck and the incense left burning at the scene are vital clues to who committed this terrible crime, the notorious serial killer Mary Weston. The police have been chasing her for many years and failed leaving many parents without daughters. Lucy is working closely with the police and wants to catch Mary Weston as much as the police do. But May Weston has other plans and appears to be teasing them when the bodies of three other teenage girls are found in remote locations. Once more a race is on to hunt the killer down before more innocent lives are lost.

Everything suddenly gets personal when one of Lucy’s closest friends Chris who just happens to be Mary’s son disappears. Lucy is convinced Mary is responsible, and she will do anything to find him. So when Mary sends Lucy a message asking to meet her alone she knows she must face her to save her friend. A meeting that could end in her losing her own life.

For me personally this series has grown on me little by little and I am really looking forward to book four in the series.

After the events of Book 2 Lucy goes into shutdown. The things she did have weighed heavily on her & left her wondering just who she has become. She cuts herself off from everyone including Chris to whom she had promised to find & deal with his evil, serial killer mother- Mary Weston. The body of a young girl is found in a cabin in the woods. The way she died points to Mary. She receives a message from Chris to say he is investigating himself but the voice-mail ends with a shot. This time her she is not alone. FBI agent Lennox & Detective Beckett are also involved but can they get to Chris before it's too late .It was good to see Lucy not working alone for a change.

This was a fast paced read that kept me glued to the page. So pleased book 4 is beside me! Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book

But now that her friend Chris has gone missing, Lucy is desperate to find him. She is not alone in this. The police are searching for Chris as well. In fact, they allow Lucy quite a bit of leeway when it comes to the search for Chris.

In order to find Chris, Lucy must attempt something that could be extremely dangerous. Knowing that Chris has been captured by his own mother, Mary Weston presents a real challenge for Lucy. Mary wants to meet Lucy. By so doing, Lucy’s life could definitely be on the line.

What a tense read! As this thrilling series has progressed, Lucy has been on the line about the decisions that she has been making regarding her vigilante activities. She does not measure to the depravity that the serial killer killers and child molesters that she has killed, but yet she questions her actions. With Chris now having gone missing, Lucy wonders whether or not she would be able to do harm to Mary Weston in order to save Chris. However, the decision as to what to do could be taken right out of her hands.

This exciting third book in the Lucy Kendall series follows The Girl in the Pink Shoes and Little Lost Souls. This is an interconnected series that really should be read in order, and by so doing it will definitely help readers to understand Lucy and her motivations. This well-written story shows the dangers that are facing Lucy, especially when it comes to her desire to right the wrongs of the past and some of the decisions that she has made. Suspense and danger go hand in hand in this book, making this easily a one-sitting read. With shocking twists and turns and a pulse-pounding conclusion, this book set the groundwork for the final book in the series.

The Girl in the Cabin (A Lucy Kendall Crime Thriller Book 3) by Stacy Green is one twisty tale that keeps Lucy on her toes and the reader along with her. I applaud the way Lucy ends this story with an insight and decision concerning her life. Mary Weston, serial killer, mother of friend Chris is back with the FBI tacking her down. Lucy is help them, but Mary proves to be elusive until she chooses otherwise. Not for the faint of heart but for those who love a truly thought provoking, well-crafted biting thriller. It is even better than the first two in the series if that is possible.

One small detail is discerning concerning the right-handed gunner who. killed Lionel. I can help but wonder if that is coming back to hunt Lucy in the last book of the series. I must read to discover.

Please note The Girl in the Cabin was previously published as Gone to Die. While perhaps this could be read as a stand-alone I would highly suggest reading the series in order, the chill factor will be increased!

I received this book from Netgalley. I liked the idea of this book and the cover and title drew me in. However, I felt as though the book took a while to get started and there were stretches where nothing happened. I do feel like there was a lot of blank space - things happened but they didn't.

There was something off about Lucy for me. She did feel a bit too woe is me sometimes but also seemed to acknowledge that. I also appreciated how she actually followed orders and didn't go rogue!

Overall, not a bad book - I just wish that it had a little bit more substance and moved at a faster pace.

It began with a body of a sixteen-year-old girl found in a cabin. Her wounds and manner of death remind Lucy Kendall of Mary Weston, a notorious serial killer. Mary just also happens to be Chris' mother. For those who have not read the previous books, Chris is Mary’s son and Lucy’s close friend. He has been in the previous two books. Their history is detailed some here but mainly in The Girl in the Pink Shoes.

Is Mary Killing again?

Then Chis, Mary's son and Lucy's close friend, goes missing when going to meet with Mary. Lucy is scared for his safety and determined to find him. With the clock ticking, knowing how dangerous and vicious, Mary is, Lucy, along with the police, attempt to hunt Mary down. Will they find Chris in time?

When Mary asks to meet with Lucy, Lucy knows she is going to be meeting one of the most vicious and deranged individuals that she has ever meet.

Another riveting and hard to put down book by Stacy Green! Again, readers will see character development and get some more background on Lucy and Chris. Can these books be read as a stand-alone? Yes, but with this being book #3, I recommend going back to the beginning as each book is fabulous and fast reads.

With the other books in this series, Green pours on the tension and suspense. This was another well written and well thought out page turner for me and this has me looking forward to the next book in the series.

I absolutely LOVED this series by Stacy Green and could not wait to see how the storyline continued through each book. I believe all four books could be stand alone but it was very nice to be able to read them in order. The character development was outstanding and I was surprised how I went back and forth between each character seamlessly. I am looking forward to reading more by Stacy Green!!

I feel like this series is a whole process. We met Lucy in the first book and see her evolution through the entire series. In this third installment, she’s struggling with some of the vigilante decisions she made in the past. Do those actions make her as evil as the serial killers she’s tracking? What does it mean for her friendships and relationships? At the beginning of this book, Chris goes missing and is immediately linked to his mother, and another of her murders. Will Lucy be able to find him and stop Mary Weston in time?

Firstly this is Book 3 and Lucy Kendall is back so I suggest you read the other books first as this a continuation of the other two and it would be quite confusing to start here. The girl in the cabin portrays a different Lucy, at the start she is struggling with events from the previous novel Little lost souls but it’s good to see her vulnerable side but now she’s been dragged back into the hunt for a prolific serial killer and her friends are in danger, can Lucy come back from the abyss?

The Girl in the Cabin is the third book in the Lucy Kendall Crime Thriller series. This book can be a stand-alone read; however, I think it's so important to understand what has happened prior that leads to where this book is going to go. Without the history it might be hard to understand why the characters are reacting the way they are.

This book picks up shortly after the previous one, with Lucy going before a judge to stand up for Justin Beckett. After she testifies on his behalf she steps out into the hall and takes a call from Chris, Justin's brother. Chris is focused on Lucy helping to find his mother, Mary Weston, a serial killer. Lucy wants to wait before they go after her, but Chris is unable to wait.

A sixteen-year-old girl is found in a remote hunting cabin in the woods of Maryland. Lucy feels that it is another murder by Mary. The scene is very much Mary's signature. As she is working with the police, Chris goes missing unbeknownst to Lucy. Finally, Chris leaves a few messages on her phone and Lucy is sure that Chris went after Mary on his own.

This will be a high-profile case since Chris is the adopted son of ADA Hale, so the FBI is called in. Mary will be a stronger adversary than any of her previous cases, but who will win in the end.

I have to say so far this is my favorite book of the series. The character of Lucy keeps growing on me. With every book we learn more about her character and what she is willing to do for those she cares about. It is twisted thriller with dark topics that are uncomfortable to read about. But the stories are so well written, and the characters are believable. This is a really good series, and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

And with a few shocking moments, and plenty of twists as Mary's full horrific crimes come to light. The Girl in the Cabin is a fabulous read and once I got into it I couldn't put it down.

I'm really enjoying this series. Lucy is our main character and her past baggage has make her what she is. Will the darkness take over her personality?
Her friend Chris is in trouble, she hears a gun shot over the phone and the chase is on. What has he gotten into? It seems he is more than he has revealed and she will have doubts about him.
The local police and the FBI are on the case. Chris is with his mother, the serial killer....just whose side is her on?
There are a lot of layers to this story and I enjoyed everyone that was peeled back. This story should be read after the first 2 to have an understanding of character growth and the murders surrounding them.
I really can't wait to see how book 4 plays out now.

Reading this series back-to-back, one, straight into the next!

Book 3 and Lucy has dipped into depression as she deals with her inner demons and tries to clear Justin’s name. Chris becomes needy and desperate, and the perfect storm is created for him to fall prey to Mother Mary and the race is on to find him before he is likely tortured and killed.

As with each book, I have my questions about Chris, is he Mr Unknown?? what really did happen when he was with his mother? Is he just a lost soul who feels like he is the sporn of evil, cast off or potentially more dangerous, calculating and manipulating that you could imagine or want to be true....

Onto book 4 to see how it all ends, if my question and suspicions about will be answered.

A solid four star read. Great premise. Well written. Good characters. Page turner. Plenty of suspense to keep me guessing Would definitely read the next novel. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to review it.

I tried to push through this book to finish it out knowing full well that I was not going to read the 4th book.

I just could not finish this book. You can get your point across without being descriptive of the event. I didn't need to read for the 50th time that the girl was sexually assaulted with a kitchen item. I didn't. It's too much. TOO. MUCH. I am NOT one easily triggered by ANYTHING even though I am a survivor of childhood abuse but I just cannot finish this book.

At first I thought maybe the author worked for CPS and these books were pulled from real life experience. I couldn't find any evidence of that. Yes, I know things like this happens in the real world; TRUST me that I am painfully aware of things like this happening in the real world which is why I see a therapist every month. The event(s) can be explained in a way that the reader can draw their own conclusions instead of slamming a frying pan across their face with the info.

TO BE CLEAR - These books are not terrible. They are page turners, the characters are engaging and some pull at your heartstrings. The description around the sexual assaults, child suicide, child sex ring, did not need to be so descriptive. The author definitely has a gift of writing. 80% of me really enjoyed the 2.5 books I read of the series. I just cannot continue reading these descriptions,

I always struggle with the rating because overall - book is good, Had the descriptions eased up a bit I would have continued the series and enjoyed every line of it. I would said 3.5 stars. If you are easily triggered, do not read this book.
