As a big fan of the author and her Hedgehog Hollow series, I couldn’t wait for this book. I loved that it had slight connections to the previous series but was different. We knew Fizz from working at the Hedgehog Rescue Centre but now her farmer brother, Barney, is looking for love and turning to a reality TV series in the hopes of finding someone suited to his lifestyle.
As filming starts, the TV producers want to start spicing things up, unbeknown to Barney; secrets are spilled, people are hurt and past heartbreaks are rehashed. It’s not what it set out to be and the director, strong willed Amber, isn’t happy – it’s far from the show she agreed to work on and she feels for Barney, probably more than she should.
Barney is a lovely character, he seems sweet and you want the best for him, definitely not the rough ride the TV producers want for to give him. Amber is a cool character too and the spark between them is apparent from the start.
A story full of drama, romance, and fun, there are some funny moments with some contestants on the show. It’s uplifting and give you hope. A great read that I highly recommend.
Jessica Redland has done it again. This book is an absolute masterpiece from beginning to end. I have adored this book.
I’m always left smiling after a Redland book. The journey through might not always be smooth, but I can safely say this is an author that always delivers.
As always with this author, the characters are BRILLIANT. I have loved Amber and Barney. They have made this book a brilliant read.
This is a wonderful read and filled with so much love. I adore Jessica Redland so definitely excited for more.

Healing Hearts At Bumblebee Barn by Jessica Redland has great potential but it was just not for me, unfortunately. I do think others will enjoy it, I just couldn’t get into it.
I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for a review and opinions are my own.
What a deliciously heartwarming read! This is the first book I’ve read from this author and I enjoyed it immensely.
I love the premise of the storyline and warmed to Barney’s character immediately. You can’t help but hope that by putting himself out there and out of his comfort zone, that it will result in him finding a lasting love.
Despite the seemingly fluffy synopsis, there’s a surprising depth to the plot as long held secrets come to the surface. There is a strong theme of unconditional love and family loyalty running throughout as Amber does everything she can to support sister Sophia after her earlier trauma and Fizz does all she can to help brother Barney find love.
A lovely, cosy read which I definitely recommend!
With thanks to the author, Rachel at Random Resources and Boldwood Books for the opportunity to participate in the tour.
Jessica Redland has an exceptional talent. She draws you totally into her books and you really care about the characters and the settings.
Barney is keen to find love and is persuaded to sign up for a reality, farm dating show. Initially it is supposed to be a straightforward attempt to find partners for lonely farmers. When the tv company decide to change their approach, everyone is upset with the direction it is taking.
Even though Barney is unlikely to enjoy the experience , he's hoping to meet the love of his life.
It was lovely to meet familiar characters from the Hedgehog Hollow series and Barney is a lovely new character that you easily fall in love with.
I can't wait to read whatever Jessica writes next!
4.5 Stars rounded up: Healing Hearts at Bumblebee Barn is the story of Barney, a farmer who loves his life on the farm. It has been in the family for several generations and Barney would love to find a partner, someone who loved him and the farm. His sister, Fizz who we met in the Hedgehog Hollow series, convinces him to throw his hat in the ring and apply to be on a reality television show called "Love on the Farm". He applies and gets accepted as one of the farmers looking for a wife, known to the production team as "Farmer Hottie". It all starts smoothly enough, but when the executive producers don't think it is spicy enough, they hire someone else to direct and suddenly secrets are revealed, people are upset, and Amber, the director, is overruled at every turn. Will Barney find his match?
I always enjoy Jessica Redland's books. They are romance, drama, have issues we can relate to, but in the end are uplifting. I really liked Barney's character. He was such a sweet guy who loved his family, but was lonely. He inherited the farm from his granddad and wanted to make him proud. I loved his connection to the Hedgehog Hollow series being Fizz's brother. He was a little shy, and as some of his secrets came out, he wasn't sure what to do. He has some baggage that he needs to reconcile with before he can move on with his life and luckily there are some people that can help him do that. Amber was also a great character, one who wanted to do what was right. She signed on to the project under some verbal stipulations and was thrown under the bus. She didn't want to abandon Barney, so did what she could to support him. I don't watch a lot of reality TV, but I know the more drama, the bigger the audience, that is why I don't watch. I don't want to give anymore of the story away, but if you are looking for an uplifting story with some great characters, I recommend you pick up Healing Hearts at Bumblebee Barn.
Loved this book. This author is amazing at what she does. Another heart warming, beautiful story. I would highly recommended this & anything by this author.
I was interested to read this book after the wonderful things I'd read about Jessica Redland's writing in her Hedgehog Hollow series. I found this book engaging from page 1. Well written and enjoyable.
I have read several of the author's works, and apart from one storyline, I have enjoyed them all. They are all set in the same world with a few names that cross over once in a while, but for the most part, any person can pick up anywhere and not feel like a stranger.
This particular installment was quite entertaining and added to the myriad of interesting careers that the author has chosen to focus on for all of her lead protagonists. Here, Amber is a TV producer who has a lot of experience under her belt, but the one thing she refuses to participate in is reality tv. Given her affinity for the countryside, she is convinced to take up a new reality show that promises to match lonely farmers with partners. She is excited by the initial prospect once she gets the brief and the idea that this may be less like the splashy ones that usually run on televisions. Also, she is trying to stay close to her sister, who has received a lead acting role after a long break.
What improves the narrative is that we also get to hear Barney's side. He is leading a lonely life, and we watch him think things out and give the reality show a shot. The niceness does not last, as the simple, straightforward show idea is deemed too boring, and some chaos is required. In the midst of it all, Amber and Barney both have to deal with the demons of their past. The journey that the two took was deep and involved us getting a feel for the surroundings and their lives.
I would definitely recommend this book to readers of the genre, and I recommend this author to anyone who wants a great read.
I received this book as an ARC thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the review is entirely based on my own reading experience of this and the author's previous works.
This standalone novel is a delight to any fans of Jessica Redland as you get to check in with some familiar characters and a few gorgeous rescued hedgehogs. Bumblebee Barn turns out to be just as lovely and you can totally visualise the animals and the fields. Barney is a sensitive and family minded young man but his lonely life on the farm highlights how isolating farm life can be. I enjoyed meeting Amber and her family and the subplot of her sister tied in well with the themes of the story. Family and loyalty is very important but her treatment in the past by ambitious staff has had far reaching effects on her whole family.
This is a story which spans the generations and Barney feels a real link to previous generations. It is interesting to see how Fizz, his sister, who is featured in previous stories at Hedgehog Hollow, is getting on and to see how events in her childhood have affected her whole family, especially her grandfather. Family, caring, working hard and being truthful about what you want in life all are important in the story. I am hoping for a return to Bumblebee Barn- we shall see!
In short: great characters, friends and family

Another book by Jessica Redland and I fell more in love with the stunning world she creates. It is mesmerizing to imagine and be between characters that are so special, you will root for them like they are your own bunch of people.
Jessica Redland has given us a countryside story with a sweet and lovely farmer Barney who has difficulty finding love. To help Barney and because she can't see him alone, Fizz who is his sister (and yes also the one from Hedgehog Hollow series) signs him up for a reality show Love on the Farm.
Amber is a producer and she hates reality TV but for reasons important to her she agrees to this show. I loved all the characters in this book and want a story for Joel and Zara also.
The setting created by the author is wonderful. She is skilled in writing a story with family dynamics, drama, romance, emotional roller coaster, lovable characters and self growth. She never fails to make me laugh, cry, get angry on behalf of characters, cheer up for them and be happy for how it beautifully comes to an end.
This isn't just your normal romance, Jessica Redland shows friendships, family and other important things in a way that will make a difference to you. I enjoyed reading every bit of it.
I highly recommend this book to everyone.
A sweet story of new love. The best part? It’s found on a farm!! Love those stories.
Great characters, multiple storylines and a satisfying ending.
Fans of sweet romance stories should definitely pick this up.
This book was just adorable, I haven't read a Jessica Redland before but now I will definitely go back and read the Hedgehog Hollow series. This is such a cosy, easy read with a sweet narrative that I think all readers will relate. I also think that difficult subjects within the narrative were dealt with sensitively. This is just a beautiful story and it completely stole my heart.
Omg I really loved this book. I would give it 10 stars if I could. As a huge fan of reality tv the premise that love on the farm is a reality show with 3 girls being matched to farmers and spending the days with the farmer before he chooses which one he likes is an amazing idea and should be a real show.
As for farmer hottie, Barney I loved his warmth and kindness. Every chapter that was focused on him you found out why he was single and what happens to him in the past and sympathize deeply with him .
The same with Amber she has a past also that she explains to Barney and we realise why she is also the way she is. I love the ideas of the sunset with amber and Barney and seeing characters from hedgehog hollow was amazing too.
A beautiful story full of heartbreak and love
What an absolute joy to read.
I have read just one of Jessica’s books previously and loved it so much I jumped at the chance of reading this one for the blog tour.
It is written in alternating chapters from Barney and Amber.
Barney is a young farmer who has been unlucky in love and is now feeling lonely on his farm and is ready to find someone to share his life with. His lovely sister Fizz, who is a great character and works at the hedgehog rescue centre, persuades him to sign up for a reality TV show, Love on the Farm, to see if he can find the love of his life that way. Unsure at first, he decides to give it a go.
He is accepted, nicknamed ‘Farmer Hottie’ by Zara, the producer’s assistant. Amber, the producer, pays him a visit.
Amber has her own love life failings and is currently back with an ex. She was very reluctant to produce this programme as she hates reality shows after what happened to her younger sister, but decides to take the job for personal reasons.
The filming starts, but the production company who came up with the idea decide they want to change the format to make it more watchable. Amber is fuming and her director quits.
The show carries on, and Amber and Barney realise they have feelings for each other. But with all their emotional baggage will they find love at the farm?
An absolutely gorgeous story, expertly written. Characters I bonded with and hoped they would find happiness. The supporting characters were all extremely well written and developed.
Yes I loved this book and I can’t recommend it highly enough if you want an uplifting read, with a bit of a cry!
Thanks to Rachel at Rachel’s Random Resources for my spot on the blog tour.
Loved this book, such great characters and a lovely story, moving and funny at times, and I loved the nod to Jessica Redlands previous series set at Hedgehog Hollow
I am a massive fan of Jessica Redland and as such, was really looking forward to reading Healing Hearts at Bumblebee Barn. True to expectation, it did not disappoint. It's set in the beauty of the Yorkshire Wolds and features Barney and Amber. This story is teeming with love and friendship and it was one that I thoroughly enjoyed reading from beginning to end. There's hilarious moments and I cannot recommend this novel highly enough.
I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Boldwood Books via NetGalley and this review is my own unbiased opinion.
🐝 REVIEW 🐝
A heartwarming story with an unusual theme in finding ‘Love on the Farm’. I really liked that it was an escape from a busy day and enjoyed costing up in bed at night to read more about Barney and Amber.
✅ Dual POV
✅ Great setting
✅ Likeable and relatable MCs (and most of the side characters)
✅ Unusual plot line
If you’re looking for a cosy, heartwarming read, this book will be perfect for you!
Really enjoyed this despite some of the nastier characters included. It felt like the hedgehog hollow books felt in the beginning, comfortable and easy to read. It was nice learning more about Barney and the rest of Fizz’s family. Here’s hoping the next book is about Joel.
How do you come back after a series like Hedgehog Hollow (HH)? Well this is how! Jessica Redland quickly became one of my favorite authors drawing me into her stories, making me laugh and cry along with the characters at HH and feel like I knew them all personally and now she's back with hopefully the start of a whole new series set near HH.
Once again I smiled and completely escaped to the countryside getting so carried away that I forgot everything else and was once again literally laughing and crying while reading. Both Amber and Barney were just through and through good people. It was amazing Barney had stayed single for so long, as any woman would be lucky to have him, but I guess he really was looking in the wrong places for a woman and that's how his sister Fizz ended up getting him to sign up for a reality show. I am really not a fan of reality shows and this book emphasized why. Nothing real about those shows, but my feelings about this book were real and I can only encourage you to read it as soon as possible.
