🌾I'm A Farmer Barney fan now!🌄
What a great story, and I loved the backstories and personalities of farmer Barney and television producer Amber. So many hitches and obstacles thrown in their way to test them. Amber has some truly obnoxious people to deal with in both her professional and personal life. And poor, lonely, good-natured Barney goes along with a lot of nonsense all because he won't say no to his sister's effort to help him find a perfect partner.
I love the way author Jessica Redland included some of the characters and locations from her recently-concluded Hedgehog Hollow series but kept them as a background and not a major focus in Barney's quest for love.
Redland also gave me just the right number of secondary characters to enliven the story without. overloading me with names or stealing the spotlight from Amber and Barney. There's such a feeling of close, supportive family and rural community that really contrasts well with the cutthroat characters dominating the reality show world.
As to the ending: lovely, romantic and so dramatically picturesque. And a shout out to the book's cover illustrator who perfectly caught the story's vibe. I could not have asked for better.😍
Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
This is my first Jessica Redland book I have read of hers. After reading this, I want to explore more of Hedgehog Hollow. The sweetest town. It was such a cozy read in this stormy rainy weather. Barney and Amber are so cute! A farmer finding love through a tv show is very unique and fun.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This is an easy 5 star read. We visit Bumblebee Barn and meet Barney who some people may recognize as being Fizz's brother from the Hedgehog Hollow series. Whilst we do visit Hedgehog Hollow, this is very much Barney and Amber's story, although I loved getting an update on some of the Hedgehog Hollow characters.
This book is an emotional roller coaster, and at times throws curve balls at you that you don't expect.
I loved some of the subtle references to real life like Barney giving Amber paracetamol and water as his sister always gets a headache when she cries. I can relate to that as I get that.
I also loved the Bumblebee at the start of each chapter, it's a nice touch.
I'd be interested to read other reviews to see if anyone else picked up the reference to a Michael Buble song towards the end or if it was just me.
Over all a brilliant book and I hope this isn't the last we see of some of these characters. I'd love to see Joel have his own story.
I am a huge Jessica Redland fan so I like to go in blind and never read the blurb as I like to get lost in the pages and watch the story unfold without knowing anything.
I really liked Barney and the whole scenario of Farm dating.
Good to hear about past characters from Hedgehog Hollow.

Another gorgeous read from Jessica Redland. I’m a huge fan of her writing and am loving the stories around the hedgehog centre. Healing Hearts at Bumblebee Farm is a slight move away from the hedgehogs but for fans it’s not too far away as Barney the main character, is the brother of Fizz from the centre.
I loved the idea of this one - finding love for Barney on a reality tv programme seems like a fun way to show off the farm and Barney but as per usual it’s not smooth sailing. Amber was a great introduction to the farm setting - calm and professional she seemed in her element on the farm and her relationship with Zara was a joy to read.
I love Jessica Redland books and I was not disappointed, I was hooked on the first paragraph, I love how this is going to be a new series, I don't love the wait in between ...... lol.
There are new lovely characters that are so well written that they are like new friends and a few characters from other books, that are lovely to see again.
Get this book curl up and enjoy.
This was a really good book! The whole idea of the book was good. I loved the characters and the farm sounds perfect. It has just the right amount of romance and leaves you wanting more.
Thanks to the publisher, Netgalley and Rachel’s Random Resources for copy
What another corker of a story from Jessica Redland! I've read every single one of her books so I knew I was going to love "Healing Hearts at Bumblebee Barn" I just had to pick it up asap 😊
This story begins with Barney wanting to find love, so his sister Fizz convinces him to sign up for a new reality TV show, Love on the Farm, the farm being Bumblebee Barn. In comes Amber, TV producer for the show. Well, what could possibly happen?
I was very surprised to see old and very familiar characters pop up in this story, Jessica found the perfect balance of old and new characters and settings.
Being told from Barney and Amber's POV with alternative chapters, this gave the story a lot of context and character development which I adored. They both have a lot in common. Barney sounds like the perfect gentleman.
I very much enjoyed the concept of the story being based around reality TV. It was certainly full off very unexpected twists and turns from beginning to end.
Jessica Redland's narrative is heartwarming, entertaining and uplifting. It's pure escapism at it's best and I felt like this was a warm hug in a book. It's always such a pleasure to read a Jessica Redland book.
"Healing Hearts at Bumblebee Barn" is about facing grief with support, determination with a splash of love ❤️
So I highly recommend you grab a hot drink and comfy blanket and dive in!
Thank you to Boldwood Books for an advanced copy of this book via Netgalley.

Thanks for letting me read this ARC. Jessica delivers again! After the huge success of Hedgehog Hollow it was hard to imagine that stepping away could be this good, and yes, we do get small visits which tie in nicely.
We meet Barney a Farmer at Bumblebee Barn, who signs up to a reality show about finding love on the farm, Amber is hired as the producer of the show. Bumblebee Barn has been in the family for more than 100 years. It's such a clever way of bringing these lives together and watch their stories develop. Ghosts of the past, pain revisited, good old humour, There's even a mention of You're Dumped GIFs. It's so nice to see Samantha pop up in the story. Good people and love can make a huge difference to a persons life, this book demonstrates this perfectly.
In some ways the reality tv aspects reminded me of that TV Show Unreal which is based on Reality TV, that puts the show before people.
As always, Jessica doesn't shy away from tough topics, at one point my stomach sank and tears sprang to my eyes. I really felt for poor Barney at times, women can be so cruel.
There's a great mix of characters and emotions, I can even see this as a movie on Netflix or Hallmark. This book has it all, where all threads lead to a well told story.
My first read of 2023 and what a winner. I loved the characters, even the troublesome ones brought something to the story. Amber, the TV producer has kissed her fair share of toads before finding her Prince. Barney has a farm in a beautiful location but his loneliness makes him apply for a reality dating programme - whatever could go wrong. I loved everything about this book, family, friendship and beautiful sunsets and sunrises. It certainly deserves five stars
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant and one more brilliant. I hadn't read the blurb as I wanted to be surprised and I really was. Fizz's family are back, fantastic news. I loved this book it made me smile made me cry absolutely brilliant. Thank you so much netgalley for the advanced copy
Barney Kinsella loves his life at Bumblebee Barn and loves being a farmer. He just wishes he could meet someone to share his life with. After the end of yet another relationship with a woman who didn’t like the farm his sister, Fizz, decides it’s time he tried a new approach. She convinces him to apply for a new reality TV show called Love On The Farm.
At first apprehensive, Barney throws himself into it but will being on TV allow him to find love or will it just open up old wounds and break his heart all over again.
This is a beautiful, moving, heart-warming story of friendship, family and love. The setting, the characters and the story line are just perfect. An ideal way to brighten up a dull January.
Although this is a standalone book there are some characters that feature in the Hedgehog Hollow series. It’s so nice to catch up with these and although you don’t need to have read the Hedgehog Hollow books to enjoy this one, I would highly recommend that you do.
Another fab read by this author. Loved reading about new characters but also enjoyed reading about familiar characters from other books. Really hope this continues as a series.
A lovely cozy romance to start my years reading.
I liked Barney and Amber from the start and wanted the best for them.
The book is so much more than a farmer finding love through a TV show. The story was more complex with family dynamics and ex-partners coming into the equation.
This is my first book by this author and the little snippet I got of Hedgehog Hollow makes me want to read those books too.
This was another lovely book from Jessica and a great way to finish this year on. I know I will always enjoy Jessica’s books as she never seems to disappoint. I look forward to more from her in the future. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
Loved this book. I hope it's the beginning of a new series. Lots of familiar characters appeared which was good too.
Jessica Redland has done it again, another simply superb story, that had me hooked.
I adored getting to know Barney a lot better, and also thoroughly enjoyed Amber's point of view and her backstory.
It certainly is a bit of a twist on the typical story involving a reality dating show and I really admired Amber's principals.
And for all of us Hedgehog Hollow fans out there, you will be glad to know that Fizz and Sam both appear, as does the rescue centre, in enough proportions to give us our hedgehog fix! And if you have never read that series from this author then no need to worry as this really is a standalone book, it's just got a couple of characters overlap, and not in a major way.
I adored all elements of this story, and enjoyed the uniqueness of Barney's potential matches on the show!
Some wonderful characters, compelling backstories and a whole lot of heart, everything you would expect from this author and a whole lot more. Wonderful.
Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
Loved it!! It was a great surprise when I realized Barney was Fizz's brother. Loved that Amber stays at the cottages owned by Samantha and that we got to revisit Hedgehog Hollow Rescue Center. I can't get enough of those hedgehogs. From the start I knew who was going to be the perfect match for Barney. "Love on the Farm" sounded like a horrible reality show, especially after Giles and Parker got their hands on it. The love interests that were picked for Barney were something else, especially Rayn. I'm pretty sure I would have pushed her in the pig pen and forgot about her after her non stop singing. I couldn't wait to find out what happened to Sophie while she was on the reality show, causing her family to be worried and protective of her. I definitely didn't expect what Barney revealed as the reason behind his breakup with Elle. Barney loved her, but I'm not sure I could say the same about her feelings for him. Loved how the book alternated between Amber and Barney. Bumblebee Barn sounded like a beautiful place. I would have loved to be around all the sheep, goats and Barney's two dogs.
Definitely recommend the book. Loved the characters, story and writing style. Hopefully there's more books about Bumblebee Barn. Look forward to reading more books by the author.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Boldwood Books through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Jessica really knows how to write an adorable story and this is no exception. I really liked the characters in this book. I loved bumblebee barn too. I would really love to go and visit it. The characters were good and the romance was sweet.
The story is told in the first person by Barney - a farmer and Amber a tv producer.
Due to a secret from the past Barney is constantly looking for love in the wrong place and has had a string of disastrous/short-term relationships. His sister Fizz (a character you will have already met if you have read the Hedgehog Hollow series of books) persuades him to enter a tv competition to be involved in a farmer dating show. Thinking he has no chance of being picked he submits a last minute application.
Amber produces shows about the countryside and has made a good name for herself in the industry. She has never produced any reality TV and is not interested in doing so. However, when her younger sister is offered an acting job in York she decides to take on the production role of the farming dating show so, in June when her sister is filming she can be close by.
The owners of the TV company keep changing the brief much to Ambers disappointment as they are more concerned with ratings than actually finding true love for any of the contestants. As the past starts to catch up with everyone tensions increase and the hope of Barney finding love seems impossible. Maybe if he considered someone who wasn't a contestant he might find what he is looking for?
