This story centres on a group of friends, of varied ages, who live through an unforgettable day during which traumatic and life-changing events occur. Max is shown to have been hiding a huge secret and as the carefully constructed cover story unravels, his wife and close friends realise the depth of his treachery. Throughout the day, different people show their caring sides and you certainly see how selfless they can be.

Tress has a strong sense of where her priorities have to be and really shows courage and determination at different times during the day. This is a story about finding your own tribe and about the strength of friendship. Both Tress and Noah instinctively opt for honesty as the right course of action. Fundamentally, they are decent people and your sympathy is always with them. Seeing characters who show loyalty and who stand by loved ones, means that there is ultimately a hopeful feel to the story. The results of deceit are destructive but love and friendship help to heal broken people.

In short: friendships are strengthen amidst traumatic events

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion.
This book is written over one 24-hour period, and swaps POV throughout the timeline. I agree with other mature reviewers (I was born a year later than Nancy and Val were supposed to be born) that there is some unrealistic character stereotyping, particularly in relation to older characters but I have taken it that this underpins their rationales for reactions rather than taking their behaviours literally. I thought the explanations and emotions were perceptive and credible, and the whole book was a rollercoaster which carried me along with it. I was completely engaged throughout, incredulous at Max and Anya's beliefs yet knowing that this was a realistic representation of how some people think.
I think the story was told very well, and it's only the attributes of Nancy and Val who behaved more like women 10 years older that lost 1 star in my rating.

I've read a number of Shari Low books over the years, and they have always been books that have been a nice, easy, and captivating read. Yet again, she has achieved that with One Day With You.

The multiple POV's in this book was executed really well. I feel having too many POV's can sometimes make the reader get a little bit lost, leading to you not being able to enjoy the story as much as you could, but this was done extremely well.

The plot was good. I did however feel it was somewhat cliche, and is a plot that has been explored in a number of books already. Could it have been better? Maybe. It could have done with something a little different? I'm not too sure what.

There are a wide range of emotions and complexities that are explored in this book. Especially when it comes to relationships, secrets and lies and the impact that these have on the people close to us.

I will absolutely carry on reading more Shari Low books!

I’m not sure how I feel about this one still. I liked it while I was reading it but I found it very forgettable. I did really like the characters and the story line.

One Day With You is a story of friendship, love, loss and deceit. Told over the course of a single day we meet a wide cast of characters whose lives are interlinked in a multitude of ways. Exploring concepts such as chosen family, this book really leaves you invested in its characters as they work their way through some of the more difficult moments of life. It's hard not to fall in love with Tress who sees the good in all people, with the comic relief that Nancy and Val provide, with Noah and his efforts to always help and do good. I loved these people and can see why they would choose each other to be one another's people. Though this book is sad and tragic at times, there are so many glimmers of hope and optimism, and the beauty of second chances and new life shine through. This book has made me think about how what we have is fragile and we need to seize life and live in the moment. A wonderful book that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I was intrigued by the book blurb; 24 hours and five lives that change significantly. Who wouldn’t want to read a book after reading this blurb? And boy, was I impressed.

This isn’t my first Shari Low book; however it transcends all the books she has written. The story is captivating, and the plot is enthralling. She pulls you in, and the reader is sucked into this vortex of emotions that Tress and Noah experience throughout the plotline.

I admire how every chapter is written from the point of view of a different character. This book takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions. A perfect recommendation for readers who love books that are an emotional rollercoaster!!

Within the span of a single day, their paths intertwine, setting off a chain of events that unravel secrets, test relationships, and ultimately redefine their futures.

Low masterfully crafts a tale that delves into the lives of these characters, each facing their own personal challenges and unforeseen revelations. From Tress Walker, on the cusp of motherhood, unaware of the impending upheaval in her marital bliss, to Max's best friend Noah Clark, facing a betrayal that shatters his world, the story draws readers into a web of emotions and suspense.

The depth of the narrative is heightened by the presence of Nancy Jenkins, a recently widowed friend, who grapples with the prospect of rekindling a past romance amidst the whirlwind of events unfolding around her. Wow, wow, wow what an emotional rollercoaster this book was!

This author has a way of presenting us with all the worst and best character traits of a person (depending on the person) and inviting us to try and understand them and/or try to figure out if we would do the same thing or take some other action. Very complex.

All these people whose lives intersect in various ways.....what an incredible storyteller Shari Low is.

I loved it.

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books.

If I wasn’t reading this book, I was thinking about it constantly, obsessing and pondering over the narrative. Shari Low had me in the grips of this emotional story and it was a fantastic read from start to finish.

I like that the writer makes a passing reference to another character from a different story. I think this was a treat for fans and I liked that I picked up on it, although it wasn’t essential to understanding what was going on. The story is an emotional drama that covers a full 24-hours and from very early on, I was fascinated to see how the novel would develop.

It is clear that this story will conclude with a life-changing event but I could not foresee who would be impacted the most. Tress is in hospital, in the throes of labour with her first child and questioning why her husband is not by her side. Yet, not far away, an event occurs that sees Tress’s best friend, Noah, having to shield Tress from the truth in order for the new mum to safely deliver the baby. Keeping her company are her adopted grandmothers, Val and Nancy, and this duo provided some welcome comic relief in such a tense narrative.

The story shifts perspectives within each time frame and I loved catching up with each character. In particular, we see the different interpretations of events that have just been revealed, revealing innermost thoughts and feelings. In such a highly-emotive story, this just added to the fragility of the narrative and how the conclusion was so ambiguous until the end.

As the narrative progressed, I grew to care more about Tress and her labour rather than Val and Nancy. Low uses these older characters to lighten the mood of the story but I found I was a bit frustrated that it was taking my attention away from the story I was most engrossed in! However, I don’t think the novel would be the same without this couple of entertaining characters and I have to admit, I was entertained by their antics, especially at the school reunion dance.

This book is all about appreciating what you have and living for the moment. It is an incredibly traumatic and dramatic story that radiates love and emotion throughout. It is definitely one of my more favourite recent reads from this author and I would highly recommend it.

With thanks to Boldwood books and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a good book. The two main characters are Tress and Noah. Tress is married to Max and expecting a baby. Noah is a doctor, best friend of Max and married to Anya. Max and Anya worked for the same company, they were having an affair. Max and Anya left one day to go to a hotel, but told Tress and Noah they were going to a conference. Tress went into labor, Noah found Anya was not tell the truth about where she was going. After Max and Anya got to the hotel, they found out Tress was in labor. They had an accident, landed up in the hospital, when Noah came across them due to the accident. Max died. The baby was born.

This was such a good book! Full disclosure without a spoiler., Grab tissues and get ready for a emotional draining book. Max and Tress are anxiously awaiting the arrival of their new bundle. The plot of the book occurs over one day and involves 4 individuals whose lives will be forever changed. Each of the characters are linked in someway. This book was so well written and the character development was phenomenal. We have lies, betrayal, family etc all rolled into one. This is my first book by the author and it won't be my last.

4.5 stars!

"One Day With You" by Shari Low is one heck of an emotional roller coaster! Wooooweee! I didn't know what I was in for when I started this book, but I didn't think it would be uncontrollable sobbing complete with an unstoppable snotty nose! There is so much sadness and happiness here, but there are also moments of levity, contemplation, and high-stakes stress. I loved the alternating perspectives. I think Shari Low handles them really well with great success. This is such a compelling story despite its heartwrenching moments. It poses a lot of questions to readers about what they would do if they found themselves in a similar predicament. Shari Low also writes her characters crystal clearly with expert precision and detail. They have such terrific backstories, as if they were fully-formed real-life people. I absolutely loved Noah and Tress. My heart went out for them so deeply. I also loved the feisty Val and Nancy, what terrific supporting characters. This book is very drama-heavy, but I enjoyed it despite its depressing subject matters.

"One Day With You" is my first read from Shari Low, but definitely not my last. Fabulous book.

Thank you to NetGalley, Shari Low, and Boldwood Books for the ARC of this book. All opinions are my own, and I was not compensated for my review.

I knew what was going to be a very powerful reveal fairly early, but I was uncertain how the fates would play out.
I had a heart of stone toward two of the characters and thought they were both low.
The true heroes of the book were Val, Nancy and Noah. Noah was the epitome of decorum and composure even while his entire life was shattered in just mere hours.
So many lessons in this story. Recommend to all!

Oh Shari Lowe, you've done it again! This book was as fantastic as I hoped it would be! Much like her other "One Day" books, the story follows 4 main characters alternating perspectives in 2 hour blocks over 24 hours. The story begins when Max, Tress's husband is reluctantly leaving for a business trip 3 weeks before his wife's due date for their first child. Just after he leaves Tress goes into labour and begins trying to reach him. Max's best friend Noah is going through a rough patch with his wife Anya, and they are fighting yet again as she leaves for a business trip that same morning. Their farewell is not great and Noah is left wondering what is going on in his marriage. Meanwhile, Max is taking a cab to a random location to meet Anya, as it turns out, the two are having an affair and this will be their last "hurrah" before they end things for good, for the sake of the new baby. Finally, we also get to meet Nancy, a retired widow who is half-excited and half-dreading her high school reunion and a potential rekindling of a high school crush 40 years later. After many phone blunders including no service and secretaries who aren't in the loop about the lie, as well as a series of events that bring all of the main characters to a hospital at the same time, quickly the secret affair is no longer a secret, and even more than that, it will inevitably alter many lives forever.

Lowe does a great job of alternating between serious, high stress moments, and throwing in some comedic moments to make things a little more light. That being said, with the short chapters and alternating perspectives, it is extremely difficult to put down! As well, knowing that everything is taking place in one day makes you want to keep reading because you know there is so much action taking place and you need to find out what is going to happen next to the characters you love! By touching on issues that affect people across the life span, like loss of a partner, new motherhood, infidelity, regrets about past relationships and people changing as they age, Lowe meets her readers no matter what age they are at by creating meaningful connections between her characters that lead to meaningful connections for her readers.

I would absolutely recommend this book. It is a quick and interesting read with well-developed characters, interesting and comedic moments, and many opportunities for reflection. I think this would make a great book club or buddy read book and I can't wait to see what one of my favourite authors comes up with next. Thanks to Netgalley and Boldwood books for giving me the chance to read and review this fabulous book!
