When Joe, Tom and Pip go to stay with their grandma in the Easter holidays they are thrown into a mystery when many of the village council come down with an apparent case of poisoning. The likely culprit is Mr Draper who wants approval to build a huge chicken coop on his farm.
Full of fun and adventure this is a great book for young fans of stories about farms or mystery stories. It has simple illustrations that add to the story and a fun outcome after mild peril!
We Quite Enjoyed this Crazy take on Enid Blyton's Famous 5, Hope this Series Continues for Many Years to Come!
(Thanks to Net Galley for this Book).
I’m part way through this book and struggling slightly as it’s not my favourite style but I can see a huge appeal for newly confident readers. The story is engaging and relatable and will attract children, I feel especially some of the reluctant boys.
We (my 8 year old co-reviewer and I!) Gave this book 3 stars. We enjoyed the illustrations and the story line was very amusing, we loved the plot twist at the end where Joe found the coins in the field. It opened up a great discussion about battery farm chickens and how we can stand up for what is right. I would highly recommend this to children of this age group and will stock it in my school library. Thank you for the ARC!
A great adventure for middle grade readers as a set of cousins try to prevent the building of a battery hen farm. This is full of twists and turns, with the young sleuths not always coming to the correct conclusions about their'evidence. If you like your crime stories mixed with a lot of fun and laughter then this may well be the place to start.
