I love the way that this is in sections for different ages, it means you can dip in and out of it when the time is right. Very helpful guide.
Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.
A helpful guide to personal finance from a well-respected financial journalist. Paul Lewis takes us through our lives from birth to death and offers useful recommendations for each stage along the way. This is an area of life which is generally neglected in schools and education more generally, so such guides are all the more necessary.
I had a scan through sections rather that read cover to cover, as this is an encyclopedic guide from birth to death which seems fairly comprehensive as a starting point of what to do, what to consider. Probably more helpful for consideration of family and friends - at a personal level I no longer need to know about things like child benefit. A reference for a family home, or for someone with lots of relations of different ages to be able to provide info and advice.
It looks a good book, does what it sets out to. As a bookseller my main quibble is on price. The irony of a toolkit for a better financial life being priced at £16.99 for a 300-page paperback?! Worthwhile so long as you are sure that enough use will be made of this as a reference book for those at all points of life.
Thank you for the advanced copy.
I like this author, he comes across very well on television.
A very useful read that is really well laid out for anyone wanting to start this year sorting out their finances or just wanting money advice/help.
It's no patronising as some of these sorts of books are and is very useful. They should cover some of these topics in secondary school
Highly recommended
This is a really original read for anyone wanting to get their financial affairs in order, or wanting to help the next generation. with all things money! I found the format really interesting and helpful - each chapter chronologically working its way through the lifespan. The advice was bang on point and the writing style was engaging (no mean feat on this topic!)
This is a book I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. My thanks to NetGalley, author ad Publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.
I've always thought it was counter intuitive to purchase a book which costs money when trying to save money so when the opportunity to review this book came about I just had to find out for myself what all the hype was and I completely get it. This book was insightful and helpful. A great gem.
