Thank you to the author, publisher Bantam, and online book club The Pigeonhole for the chance to read this. This is an honest and voluntary review.
On a family trip to London Sive’s two daughters - aged six and two - board a tube train ahead of her and leave her behind. Only one daughter returns, and in a city of millions Sive must find Faye.
An enjoyable thriller, although it could have been significantly improved by cutting back on the ending. This was one of those stories where I felt like it had achieved a decent resolution only to be spoiled by another chapter to add an unnecessary further twist or two then lay out exactly what happened to each of the characters next. It didn’t help a book where the tension always seemed one step below compelling.
Still it was easy to read with a believable lead character in Sive. The time jumps to reveal elements of what happened in the three days before her daughter goes missing were simple to follow plotwise, although there was a point where we were jumping back and forth so much between the preceding days and evenings to try and build up the tension of what was revealed and when, that I got frustrated with the plot device. That did make the drawn out final pages more frustrating.
Wow this a roller coaster of a ride. I had to keep stopping for a bit to process everything, which to me is a great sign.
Every character has a secret and has no problem telling lies so you're constantly finding new things out.
I've found all of Mara's books easy to get in to with great characters, some you end up hating, and lots of twists.
100% recommend this book!
Such a sad story of a parent just looking away for too seconds and checking her phone ,it only took one look away and her children jumped on the train and when she looks up the train is moving with her babies aboard a man shouting I will take them too the next stop only too get there and inly one child being there her other child nowhere too he seen a heartbreaking story about a family at there worst pain ever trying too find there child tha kyou so much too neutrally and the author for sending me this book for an honest review I loved it 💔
I was gripped by Andrea Mara's writing from the start of the book.
In 'Noone Saw a Thing' a frazzled mum of 3 small children accompanies her husband to London for a university reunion. He's a bit of a show off but she loves him and wants to support him in seeing his friends. Getting on the tube on a Monday morning, her two daughters, aged 6 & 2, go ahead into the carriage but before their mother can follow them on - the doors slide shut and the tube pulls away.
By the next tube stop, the elder girl has gone missing- argh. What a complete nightmare. There's no working cctv on the train and the 2 year old can't give a lot of information about what has happened. (though the one clue she did give was very cleverly handled - I thought I'd sussed it but nope) - and the reveals keep on coming.
Excellently plotted to keep you right on the edge of your seat - brilliant stuff.
During the family travel to London six year old Faye disappears. Everyone is lying and has a reason to hate the girl's father Aaron.
This is my first book written by Andrea Mara.
Quick easy read.
Another book from @andreamaraauthor and it's another cracker. I have loved every book I've read from this author and this one is no different. She writes so well that you're hooked in from the get go. If twisty, mysterious dramas are your thing then this is the author for you.
No One Saw A Things concept is every parents worst nightmare. Sive and Aaron are in London for a catch up with friends. When Sive is running for the tube with her two kids Bea and Faye, she finds they have gotten on the train with the doors closing leaving her standing on the platform. As panic sets in and the clock is ticking for her and her husband Aaron to find them. When only one kid is reunited with the couple the search continues.
Mysteries and drama unfolds as their friends rally round to try and help them find their children. But each friend has secrets of their own and the novel becomes really claustrophobic as you struggle to know who to trust.
It's the perfect book for a book club discussion. This would make sure a good Netflix series. Really enjoyed it and feel really lucky to have read an advanced copy. One to add to your wishlist.
No One Saw a Thing
by Andrea Mara
Imagine the scene, a weekend trip to London, you're pushing the baby along a busy subway platform, your 6 year old and 2 year old just ahead. They enter the carriage, but the crowd swells and before you can board, the doors close and your two little children are gone. An unfamiliar city, an unfamiliar transport network - every parent's worst nightmare.
This is my third book by this author, and the third story that begins with a missing child. She fires you straight into the scene and within the first page or two she brings the world crashing down upon your head. My kids are adults now, but I will never forget that feeling of vulnerability when your hands are tied, or you look away for a split second and they are not where you expected them to be. Your heart clenches and your brain freezes with a mixture of sheer panic and forced calm.
Hold that thought, because that is the feeling the whole way through the book. With twists and turns, red herrings and wild goose chases this story, while at times, far fetched and a bit over the top, is an elaborately plotted, trust nobody, breathtaking thriller with a breakneck pace. I devoured it in two sittings. The short chapters jerk you in and out of the stress of the situation and the three days leading up to the moment. It put the heart crossways in me and now Andrea Mara is an autobuy author for me. I think this would be a brilliant summer holiday read. Perfect for fans of Kia Abdullah and Lisa Jewell.

Another outstanding read from Andrea Mara. Fast paced thriller that keeps you guessing till the very end. Sive, Aaron and their three young children are in London for a reunion with Aaron’s former housemates that results in every parent’s nightmare, their child has gone missing. Andrea brings us through the lives of Aaron’s friends where we unravel truths and secrets from the past and we discover “everybody lies”.
Many thanks to NetGalley, Random House UK and Andrea Mara for my ARC of 'No One Saw A Thing' in return for an honest review.
This is the first book I have read by this author and it was brilliant.
Aaron and his wife, Sive, are in London for Aaron's reunion with previous housemates. He is a high flying Dublin lawyer and Five is a part time journalist. They have taken their three children to London.
This isn't a usual missing child novel as Faye, their six year old, goes missing on the London underground and nobody appears to have seen anything. Bea, their two year old was with Faye but she turns up at the next station, unharmed.
Excellently constructed with clever twists and turns throughout.
Highly recommended
A well-written, enjoyable book with an intricate plot - I flew through it in 2 days. For me, the back and forth between various timelines interrupted the flow of the story and took away from my overall reading experience, but I know others will have enjoyed it. 3.5 stars.
Thanks to Random House UK, Transworld Publishers for the chance to read and advance copy of this book.
I've read and enjoyed all of Andrea Mara's work to date, and this is another cracker of a twisty thriller. Based around old friends, old enmities, love, loss, life and death, and above all, people, and who we are and what we'll do in certain circumstances.
At turns, exciting, head-scratching, emotional, and full of 'what?' moments all the way through.
Highly recommended, easy five stars from me.
Already looking forward to the author's next release.
This is brilliant! Fantastic gripping story , fast paced and gritty. Loads of twists and turns, I loved it.
Seriously, this author can do no wrong. Andrea Mara is the Queen of compelling thrillers and red herrings and with each book she just gets better and better. This is a superb piece of writing with twists, turns and characters you just cannot trust. The book moves at a rollercoaster pace that you just can’t and don’t want to get off! Totally hooked from page 1 and all mothers will be able to relate to Sive - a totally believable character that you can invest in. An amazing, flawless read again - take a bow Ms Mara. Five star read and then some ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Sive and Aaron and their three kids Faye, Bea and baby Toby live in Dublin. When they travel to London for a reunion with Aaron’s old housemates. While Aaron is catching up with his friends, Sive decides to go on a day trip with the children. But letting Faye and Bea walk in front of her they get on the train only or Sive to be left behind on the platform.
She gets on the next train to meet the two girls at the next station. But when she gets there, there is only Bea there and Faye is missing and when she asks around to see if anyone has seen Faye. They all say nobody saw a thing.
The story continues back and forth in time and we learn how Aaron and his housemates came together and find out what happened to his ex-girlfriend who died, who he has never got over and the links between them and Faye’s disappearance.
Andrea Mara has done it again with No one saw a thing. This is a chilling and well written tale with quite a few mis directions that had me hooked throughout. It also made me think do we really know someone, even our nearest and dearest. This is another fab read from the author. 5 stars from me.
4.5⭐️
My first read by this Irish author, who I’ve heard good things about, so had high expectations going in. It’s a domestic suspense.
Sive and Aaron’s 6 year old daughter goes missing on the underground with no-one seeing a thing, tapping into every parent’s worse nightmare.
There’s no slow burn start here, wham the starters pistol goes off and it’s a great sprint from the outset with an immediate heart in the mouth level of tension.
The story flips between the present and the preceding days. Each section ending on mini cliffhangers, which really maintains the tension, and adding to just one more chapter scenario.
Almost straight away there are hints dropped about who might have a motive for taking their daughter, preparing the reader that this situation might not be straightforward, it is anything but!
Oh my goodness, there are so many secrets and lies, you won’t know which way is up!
There is one twist where I felt the irony was OTT, but amongst the multitude of them that’s good going!
I liked Sive and Jude, there’s some character detail, but in this story the emphasis is very much on the action driven plot.
I loved it, so much going on throughout, the pace never dropped, the tension was constant, and still managed to find another gear for the end.
One I’d highly recommend if you love a fast rollercoaster ride.
This was a bit of a slow burner at first, but got super interesting after a few chapters. Love the character development, the setting and the old school crime thriller feel. Mostly, I was obsessed with the twists and turns that lead to the ideal finale.
Thanks must go to Netgalley, the publisher and Andrea Mara for the ARC.
Another brilliant psych thriller from Andrea full of some serious twists and a devastatingly good reveal at the end. This isn’t the first of Andreas books I’ve read so I was excited to be given the opportunity to read the ARC. Read in a single sitting it is so gripping and with it centring around a missing child, you simply cannot put it down!
Highly recommended and would definitely read again.

Irish couple Sive and Aaron Quinn are visiting London with their three children for a reunion with Aaron's university pals. Whilst there Sive is taking a trip on the underground with the three kids when the unimaginable happens. The doors of the tube close leaving Sive on the platform and the two girls speeding away to the next station. She sees a man give her a signal that he will take them off at the next stop. When she arrives at the next station there is only one little girl Bea aged 2. The man didn't even see another girl and Bea doesn't have the words to communicate what has happened. What ensues is a thriller that you can't put down and every mother's worst nightmare.
Another amazing book from one of my favourite auto buy authors.
Than you netgalley and Random house UK for the advanced copy of No one saw a thing. I thoroughly enjoy Andrea Mara's writing, and this did not disappoint. Her description of the pain and anguish the parents were experiencing were so well written, I had to take breaks whilst reading to cope with it. The story unfolds over the the space of a few days, and even though there is a lot of backwards and forwards, the story still progresses easily and quickly and it's not too convoluted. Again Mara didn't disappoint, all loose ends tied up, no questions unanswered. Fantastic job!
Andrea Mara is a new addition to my favourite author list and this book certainly keeps her there! A fantastic premise, perfectly executed that kept me gripped from the moment the two children disappeared onto the train and away from their mother. Brilliant!
