I love Rosie Clarke books and have read a few of her Mulberry Lane books but not all. This book starts very well and carries on in same manner throughout. A good story which leaves a lot of questions to be answered in Rosie's next book in this series. Good read.

An incident over in the USA changes plans of the holiday. Mulberry Lane is back along with the characters we know and love. . I wont give anything away but I will say, you need to get out there and grab a copy of this fantastic novel. Enjoy, 5 stars.

I’ve loved this whole series from Mulberry Lane. I feel like I’m catching up with old friends as I read these books. Peggy has taken more of a backseat role in this book and we find ourselves more in the lives of the younger members of Peggy’s family. I hope that Rosie is going to write a tenth book as I’d love to find out how Maggie gets on and also if romance blossoms properly between Freddie and Greta.

I have read one other book in this series, but that was enough for me to know all the characters in this book, Life and Love at Mulberry Lane. Peggy and her husband Able are unforgettable characters and reading more about them was a joy.
The first book I read in this series was set during wartime which was its main attraction for me. I loved the characters and how they dealt with various ordeals brought about by the war. The drama was almost palpable. This current book takes place after the war, at the start of the 60s. Although the story was excellent, it lacked the drama that I like. To make up for it though there was plenty of romance as well as a couple of tear-jerking moments. I was still captivated by Peggy and her family and friends and look forward to reading the previous books in the series and any future ones. Rosie Clarke manages to write a content-filled story whilst keeping it fast-paced enough to consider it an easy, pleasurable read.

Life and Love at Mulberry Lane by Rosie Clarke is number nine the series and had taken us to 1961. Many of the same people still live on Mulberry Lane, London, although the younger ones are moving away. Peggy and Able have given over the pub to Peggy’s granddaughter, Maggie, and their daughter, Fay, who have big dreams. The two of them are off on a grand trip to the United States, Able’s home. Sadly, Peggy is hurt there and although she is recovering, she suffers from amnesia. It has been an exciting summer between Maggie meeting a man, and Fay’s Jace returning to England. Freddie has been off to the shore to spend the summer working as a life guard before he’s off to university to earn his teaching credentials. They have all been worried about Peggy.

This is a story about people the reader has known for years. It is like coming home. The reader is anxious to know what is next for these endearing characters, many of whom made it through WWII and have begun living again. We have watched children be born, young people grow into adults, people marry, have children, all on Mulberry Lane. The series will have to stop eventually, but hopefully not too soon. It takes the reader to a different time, and a different place, and it’s interesting to see how these people live. It’s been a terrific series and this was a good book, full of well-developed characters and interesting situations. I loved it.

Another compelling read following the people of Mulberry Lane. Great to see how the character have developed through the series, highly recommend!

I have to start with a confession. This is the first book that I have read in the Mulberry Lane series. This is quite remiss of me as Life And Love At Mulberry Lane is in fact book nine in the series.
I was concerned that being so many books in to the series, that I might struggle to follow the story. However, I need not have been concerned as there is a comprehensive who’s who and catch up at the beginning of the book.

Having got myself up to speed, I was excited to dive into this book. Rosie Clarke is a new author to me, but having heard only good things about this series, I was confident that I would enjoy this book.

Set in the early sixties, the story was very authentic to the time.

I immediately took to the characters in the book. Peggy, Able and co were all a delight.

The setting of Mulberry Lane is a lovely warm community that envelopes you as the reader.

All in all, this is a beautiful story. It moved me to tears in places but also made me smile and left me with all the warm and fuzzies.

Reading the series in order would have made more sense, but I honestly loved this book regardless.

Another unforgettable tale from Rosie Clarke. I don't think it can be read as a standalone as it can become quite muddled on who is who but there is a helpful guide at the start explaining who everyone is which I was grateful for. The characters are all lovely and feel like they are close friends, I love the relationships between the family and friends, it is a wonderful sense of community. My favourite is Greta and I hope more good things come her way as she really deserves for her wishes to come true. A brilliantly written book of friendship, family, love and heartache.

This is one of the best series I have ever read, getting to know all the residents of mulberry lane has been a joy and they feel like family.

If you’re going to read the series then start at book one.

Another lovely book from this author. This one was set in the early sixties and I found it so interesting and such a relaxing read. The characters were all so warm and happy to help each other out. Life and Love at Mulberry Lane finds us in 60s where the next generation in Mulberry Lane is seeking to create their own successes and carve out lives of their own. Penny and Able find themselves heading off the America, with Able keen to show Peggy where he is from, leaving behind Fay and Maggie to finish renovations on the Pig and Whistle whilst pushing their budding businesses forward in the hope of being successful in their own right. But when Peggy finds herself injured so far away from her beloved Mulberry Lane, and with businesses hitting stumbling blocks and love being in the air, life is never straight forward!

I chose to read The Girls of Mulberry Lane because of my love of WWII fiction, so I was dubious when Rosie Clarke started to extend the Mulberry Lane series beyond this timeframe. However now that we are 9 books in, I can confirm that I read these books for the characters. I have loved following them and their children as they navigate a post war London, and it's so wonderful as you watch the children grow into adults and carve their own paths in the world. I am sure this series is heading towards it natural conclusion now, but I remain hopeful that we'll get one more book to finish off their stories nicely.

I am more than happy to recommend Life and Love at Mulberry Lane, along with the rest of this wonderful series to you all. It's full of love, life and drama, with characters that you can't help but become attached too. This is the 9th book in the Mulberry Lane series and it’s an absolutely wonderful read. I’ve read all of the books in this series and each time I start a new one it’s like meeting up again with family and friends. This series is one of my absolute favourites when it comes to saga books. As soon as you start reading this book you’ll be brought right back in time to the early 1960’s and you will get so caught up in the lives and loves of the residents of mulberry Lane you wont want to stop reading this wonderful book. This book could be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading the previous books as they are all excellent.

I love Rosie Clarke's books and this one, like all of the other ones in the Mulberry Lane series didn't disappoint. In fact, this one had it all - drama, romance, tears, a little bit of humour, and a huge hit of nostalgia! Reading one of Rosie's books is like being invited round to have a cup of tea and cake with a good friend - always welcome and you always feel like you've had an enjoyable time. I hope this isn't the end for the Mulberry Lane books - I look forward to these SO much!

I just adore this series and I was so delighted that there was a new book in the series. Things have changed a lot as we enter the sixties and there’s more change to come for the residents of Mulberry Lane.

I loved reuniting with the characters, who feel like old friends by now. The children are grown up now and starting out on their careers and I loved hearing about the renovations to the pub and the restaurant. Peggy’s accident is really shocking and it’s so hard to see what she has to go through.

This wonderful book just drew me in and held me captivated. I enjoyed every page of it and I hope there are many more books to come in this enchanting series.

I'm always excited to read another tale from Mulberry Lane and LIFE AND LOVE AT MULBERRY LANE is the ninth in this delightful series, as I do enjoy the Harpers Emporium as well. But I must admit to being somewhat lost when beginning a new one - which is probably because I haven't followed the series from the beginning - I do tend to get lost with the characters, who's who and who they each relate to. I discovered a helpful character list after I had finished the book, because when I download it and open it, it opens at the first chapter, not at any helpful character list...which I could have done with before delving in, as it has been so long since the last Mulberry Lane book.

Now I can't remember where the previous one left off but I'm fairly sure the stars of this installment are a lot older than they were last time round.

It's 1961 and time has moved on since the past decade or so since the war ended. The world is opening up new horizons with more travel (both in the UK and abroad) and this time we see Peggy and Able head off to America for a long-earned holiday. Many changes are happening not only within the world but in Mulberry Lane as Maggie and Fay have opened a new restaurant in the Pig and Whistle while Fay expands her catering business, having taken over the reigns of the much loved pub. But the girls miss Peggy's presence, since she has come to be the stalwart and matriarch to everyone in the Lane.

Meanwhile, Freddie has taken a summer job as a lifeguard in Hastings and an opportunity arises for him to meet new people and gain more experience which will serve him well when he returns in the autumn to attend college to become a sports teacher. Like his mother, he takes in waifs and strays and tends to help those who need help most. This comes in the form of his landlady's niece Greta, whom her aunt treats as nothing more than a skivvy. He encourages Greta to see her own potential, that she can be more than a skivvy for her bad-tempered aunt. Freddie insists they are only friends, but does Greta know that?

Life continues on Mulberry Lane as love comes in the form of a race car driver and a rock star for the two young women running the Pig and Whistle. But the pair were adamant when setting out on their business venture that neither wanted to marry just yet until they had lived and built up their business. But will they be governed by their hearts or their heads?

Still the girls' missed Peggy's guiding hand, her expertise and her company. And when they haven't heard anything from Peggy or Able from America for a few weeks, they begin to worry. But when they learn that Peggy is in a serious and critical condition in hospital, everyone is shocked. What happened to Peggy? And will she survive?

The lives and loves of Mulberry Lane, and those beyond by extension, are thrown into turmoil with this recent news and they band together to support each other in their hour of need.

While we do catch a glimpse of some of the regulars, the focus this time is mostly on Fay, Maggie and Freddie as well as Peggy and Able. Most others garner a mention, some even appear on occasion, but their stories aren't at the forefront this time round. I must say I was shocked to find Shirley a doctor already. Last time I looked she was just beginning her studies and now she is qualified. Is it my imagination but has the series jumped a few years? Because Freddie and Fay appear to be a lot older too. Then again, as I said previously, it has been a long time between books I may be mixing book 7 or 8 up together.

Although love blooms for the girls, it didn't appear to be at the forefront of the story but rather their business and of course Peggy. Greg and Jace just seemed to be passing by. I couldn't really form much of an opinion of them as they appeared so little, although I admit to not liking Jace at all. I'd hoped he be written out somehow...I will neither confirm or deny...just that it was hope I held onto throughout the book.

I really enjoyed my time in Mulberry Lane once again despite it taking me a while to grasp who everyone was again. I do however find some of the dialogue to be a little stilted and wooden in places and not really how people would actually speak but apart from that, it is another wonderful addition to the series. And one of these days I will find the time to go back and start at the very beginning instead of having come in halfway through...lol

I can't wait to rejoin the lives and loves of those in Mulberry Lane once again, and hope I can join the dots a little quicker next time round.
