I think I may have gasped about 200 times in the book. I didn’t know who to believe and I still don’t at the end. I love Lisa Jewell but this is definitely my favourite book of hers and I can’t stop recommending it to everyone!

This was just so so clever and brilliantly written, it was poignant and believable completely keeps you guessing right to the last page. I related so much to the characters and felt bereft by certain parts of the book, one of her best I loved it

Wow! What a dark, twisted and suspenseful book. Lisa Jewell has done it again and has had me gripped from cover to cover!

I find thrillers to be very repetitive sometimes, which is why I have ventured away from them so much. However, the premise for this one was so different and unique, never having read anything like it and I was hooked. It's a book that is very easy to follow and it moves at a reasonable pace. There were little clues hidden the whole way through the narrative that started to piece together the more I read on.

A true crime podcast becomes a Netflix series, featuring birthday twins and the most unreliable narrative which keeps you on your toes and continually guessing what on EARTH is going on?! Gripping.

As always Lisa Jewell gives us everything we could possibly ask for in another excellent story. I’ve no idea where her ideas for plots come from but long May it continue.

I'm not sure there are even words to be able to review this one.

It's been a while since I was gripped so utterly. The twists and turns just leave you gaping. The characters were phenomenal: the way they were portrayed not only left you guessing, but left you unsure about the sanity of them. Just as you think you're getting the measure of Josie, something happens that makes you doubt everything you've been told so far.

I loved the way this story was told: not only through the narrators, but the snippets of other 'media' included. It gave you breadcrumbs to follow down a chilling path, but you never had any idea where the road was leading. Plus these snippets worked perfectly to give you pre/misconceptions, letting you think one thing as the story caught up, without ever knowing if it was the truth.

None of This is True completely immersed me. This is a definite recommendation for anyone who likes a thriller, or likes to be gripped. Lisa Jewell has once again created a masterpiece. If you want a psychological thriller done right, this is the author you need, and None of This is True is no exception.

A fantastic read.

Oh my days!!! This book is sensational!! I listened to the audiobook which I think really added to the whole experience. Nicola Walker is a queen and can never do any wrong in my eyes so having her voice Alix was a genius move. Read/listen to this book, have your mind blown and then wait impatiently for the next Lisa Jewell.

Alix and Josie are both celebrating their 45th birthdays in a local pub. It turns out they were actually both born in the same hospital too. When they meet again a few days later, Josie tells Alix that she wants to appear on Alix’s podcast, as she feels like her life is about to change. Although she finds Josie quite odd, Alix agrees. As their conversations develop, Alix realises that Josie’s life is full of dark secrets and Josie has now fully embedded herself in Alix’s home and life. But then she disappears and Alix realises that somehow, both she and her family are now in danger. I am a huge fan of Lisa Jewell and will always read whatever she writes. I devoured this book and simply couldn’t put it down. It’s a thoroughly gripping, twisty thriller and I still didn’t know what the truth was at the end! Josie was a very fascinating creepy character and I thought the plotting was so clever and intricate. I can imagine the pinboard absolutely covered in string criss-crossing everywhere during the planning for this one! A highly compelling page-turner that even seasoned thriller readers may be shocked by.

I know I am in for a good read when I pick up a Lisa Jewell book and this is no exception - I didn't want to put it down. It is a fabulously clever story which will have your head in a spin as you question everything that is going on and try and figure out where it is headed. The format means the tension and suspense builds really effectively - and as for the ending .....

When picking what book to read next, I had a craving for a really good thriller. Something that was going to have me gripped, chasing threads of a story to figure out what had happened. None of This is True came through and delivered for me.

The biggest selling point of this for me was the audiobook narration and production. I cannot recommend it enough. The story is told via prose, podcast recordings, interviews and news reports. All of this added a level of depth to the story telling that had me absolutely hooked and I could not stop listening. Of course for all of that to work, there needed to be an amazing plot and Lisa Jewell had that nailed down. There was so much deception with lies on top of lies that I was in a constant state of uncertainty. I had no idea what was true, what was a version of a truth and what was an outright lie.

It was no secret from the start of the book that Josie was a troubled woman. There was something off about her from the start and although I felt like there was some genuine trauma, I had the underlying feeling that she wasn't 100% genuine. Her character unravelling through the chapters was fascinating. Alix on the other hand, had her family problems, but she always felt like a put together, emotionally intelligent woman. She certainly had far more patience than I would have and I felt it was unfortunate that she'd been dragged into this drama.

If you're going to read this book, I encourage you to choose the audiobook. It was so engaging and so well done that I honestly believe it bumped my rating of this book up to a 5*. Great story with twists upon twists. Cannot wait to read more Lisa Jewell.

The queen of crime has done it again! Another superb novel from Ms Jewell. She gets better with every novel and this was no different. I can't wait to se what she releases next.

Another great read from Lisa Jewel.l. Set around a podcast, with likeable main characters. It was fast paced and no too overly descriptive that made you want to skip or get bored all the way through, I couldn’t put it down once I’d started it. There are good plot twists to keep the reader interested. You think you know how it’s going to end but it’s not what you expect. The story is told through the eyes of the characters narrating a podcast, telling both of their stories from multiple angles that are realistic and believable. You feel you are getting to know Alix and Josie and can’t wait for the next podcast recording to know more. It is well written and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I would definitely recommend it.

Josie Fair and her much older husband, Walter, head out to a gastropub to celebrate her 45th birthday—a bit of a departure from their usual routine, but something different for the occasion. The quiet evening takes a surprising turn when a lively and stylish blonde woman, surrounded by a large group, enters the pub. This is Alix Summer, a podcaster celebrating her birthday with her husband, Nathan, and a big crowd. The stark contrast between Josie’s subdued celebration and Alix’s loud, vivacious energy immediately catches Josie’s attention. To Josie’s amazement, she realizes that Alix is also turning 45 today—they share the same birthday. When Alix steps away to the restroom, Josie decides to follow.

The story is told through alternating perspectives and the clever inclusion of a Netflix podcast/documentary series titled "Hi! I’m Your Birthday Twin." The dual narrative style is incredibly engaging, making the story feel fresh and dynamic under the guidance of this experienced author.

The book is nearly impossible to put down, with both Alix and Josie being intricately developed characters whose true natures unfold throughout the story. Readers’ opinions about them are likely to shift multiple times, thanks to a series of plot twists that are as shocking as they are compelling. One character, in particular, remains an enigma throughout, adding to the sense of mystery.

The excerpts from the fictional Netflix series add layers of suspense and intrigue, heightening the tension with each new reveal. The pacing is fast, and as the story escalates, it takes readers through a whirlwind of emotions—ranging from sympathy to shock—as uncomfortable truths and unsettling scenarios come to light. The dysfunction displayed within the plot reaches unimaginable heights, making the twists all the more thrilling.

The book races toward a gripping conclusion that feels authentic and realistic, even if it doesn’t tie everything up neatly—a reflection of how life often defies tidy endings.

In short, this is an outstanding read by a highly skilled author who knows exactly how to keep readers hooked from start to finish.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone for the opportunity to read this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

4.25 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

I’ve not read a thriller in ages and this made me think why on earth not?!?! I absolutely loved it!!

Podcaster Alix’s path crosses with Josie’s when they’re both out celebrating their 45th birthday.
Josie thinks she’d make an interesting podcast subject and persuades Alix to agree.
Alix slowly comes to realise that Josie has some seriously dark secrets buried deep and they’re coming out.

I devoured this!!!
My mind was going round and round in circles as I tried to figure out what on earth was going on.

If you’re a fan of a psychological mystery/thriller I definitely recommend.

I read some parts & listened to the audiobook when I was on the move (because I literally HAD to know what happened).
The audiobook is actor led which was new to me and I actually loved it - will be keeping my eye out for others with the similar style.

No spoilers but just one aspect I couldn’t get on board with so not quite a 5⭐️ but still loveddd!

I look foreward to this authors books each time and I’m never disappointed.
I love her writing, her progressive opening into subject matters that I’m soon as a reader, going to uncover.

I’ve read many reviews on Goodreads and they vary. I read them after I had read the book myself.

Me personally, I enjoyed the way it went and the ideas from the author when writing this the way it lead into a tense situation that with surprises could lead either two ways.

It was lively and kept my attention throughout.

The audio book is so well done, there’s tense music between some chapters which gave it an eerie atmosphere I thought.

Definitely going on my physical shelf along with her other books I own.

This will stay with me.
