Gripping and Atmospheric: A Must-Read Thriller!
"Lisa Jewell's 'None of This is True' is a five-star masterpiece that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The audiobook, in particular, captivated me with its immersive podcast and investigative setting, creating an atmosphere that sent shivers down my spine.
Jewell masterfully weaves together multiple storylines, each filled with twists and turns that kept me guessing until the very end. The characters are richly developed, their secrets slowly unraveling as the plot thickens.
What truly sets this novel apart is its ability to draw the reader into its world, making them feel like a part of the investigation. From the eerie settings to the compelling narrative style, every aspect of the audiobook is designed to keep listeners hooked.

This book's title is very appropriate! You start reading, and sense the direction the author is going, and then whoops, you are lost again. Then you find your way, and then you are lost again. The ending brought ending together nicely and I will read more by Ms Jewell in future. Highly recommended!

One of my favorites of 2023. I loved this book so much. This book has everything you want a thriller to have: unreliable narrators, mixed media with a podcast, creepy age gap marriage, so much drama and craziness!! I really loved it so much. Once you think the twists are over and you got it all figured out, she ends it with a cliffhanger.. you don’t know who to believe. Incredible !!
This was an uncomfortable and gripping book with many toxic people and relationships!
It was dark, twisty and a a disturbing trainwreck that I couldn't look away from! The characters were interesting but all so unlikeable!
Lisa Jewell never disappoints. This thriller is dark and twists and turns are brilliant. I was totally engrossed in the story and flew through it. Both Alix and Josie's characters are really well written and add to the addictiveness of the story.
"Prepare to be completely engrossed in this gripping page-turner from Lisa Jewell. With masterful storytelling, she skillfully builds a sense of impending danger, starting with a vague unease and escalating into stomach-churning tension with every turn of the page. I devoured this book in a day.
Firstly, I would like to thank Najma at the publishers for sending me an ARC of this book.
Now on to the hard part of writing a review.
I do not think that any review that I write about this book will do it the justice that it deserves.
This book is an utter masterpiece.
I have found myself slumping with thrillers at the moment. Picking a lot of them up and not really finding myself intrigued. Probably the state of mind I have been in.
However, this book sucked me in from the very first page and I found it hard to continue normal life until I knew the truth surrounding Josie’s life and just what she wanted with Alix.
I had so many theories and so many thoughts. I mainly hated Walter and felt so much for Josie. Really felt for what she had been through for her childhood.
Was I right to feel those ways…did my opinion change after part 3….
I loved the way in which the author also put a spin on things in part 4 of the book. Just when I thought I could not be more shocked by the book, I go and read eighteen months later and my mind was blown!
This book is utterly addictive, clever and is one that I will be recommending to all thriller lovers. I have recommended to so many people now and I do not think anyone will be disappointed.
I am fairly certain that this will be my thriller of the year and we are only in April…
Go preorder it now 😊
Absolutely loved this!! Lisa Jewell is one of my favourite authors and she never disappoints. This was just a perfectly constructed multi-media thriller and I couldnt put it down. The concept is so so clever and I just loved it!! Filled with suspense and twists, I had no idea what was going to happen in the best way!
Wow, what a brilliant read. I have literally finished this book whilst eating my lunch as I could not put it down! I was a little unsure at first but was soon completed drawn in by the storyline. Alex is married to Nathan and they have two young children. She is also a successful podcaster. Josie has come into some money and decided to treat herself and her husband to a meal in an expensive restaurant to celebrate her forty fifth birthday. Her attention is drawn to the party celebrating at the next table and that it is also the woman’s forty fifth birthday but soon realises that their lives are poles apart. Josie becomes obsessed with Alix and after going online discovers that she is a podcaster. She then manages to bump into Alix asks her if she will do a podcast on her life. Josie married an older man at sixteen years of age and has two teenage daughters with multiple problems. Alix is drawn in by Josie’s story but finds it has lots of discrepancies and is unsure who to believe. Soon she is totally immersed in Josie’s life and disturbing events begin to happen. The story is interspersed with episodes from the Netflix documentary and completely had me hooked. This is one of my favourite books in the last twelve months.
Thanks to Netgalley and Penguin for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
This was absolutely fantastic and it had me hooked right from the very start.
I have always loved Jewell's writing style as she manages to craft a story with twists that even I (the queen of guessing plot twists before they happen) cannot predict. It was a wild ride and I didn't want to put the book down until I had learned every scrap of detail about what happened. The story becomes super dark with a ton of twists, and it creates this fantastic element of suspense. I've seen some people complaining about how it ends and, whilst I obviously don't want to spoil anything, I personally thought it was a great ending.
If you're thinking about picking this one up then I highly recommend that you do so! It's a really fantastic read.
Many thanks to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for sending me a copy of this book in return for an honest review.
It’s one of those books that I can already tell would make a great tv adaption!!! Would love to see it on the big screen.

I would 100% would recommend this book to fans of thriller/suspense. It has me gripped from the beginning. I didn’t give it the 5 stars due to the ending… which I cannot get into because it will be a spoiler, but still what a GEM of a book.
4.25 stars
As expected, this is another great story from Lisa Jewell.
This was a bit of a different take on a thriller and I really enjoyed that. It was the type of book that had me hooked from the very beginning and kept my attention the whole way through.
At a certain point you can kind of tell where it was going and ultimately how it was going to end. But there were plenty of great reveals and twists throughout.
I also particularly liked the Netflix documentary sections that were woven in.
A lot of the story and subject matters made me feel quite uneasy and the way that Josie acts, especially around Alix, is so creepy.
Unfortunately the last few chapters felt a little bit unfinished, if that makes sense. And I'm still not sure what to think about Josie's final chapter either. After what's happened, who should we believe?
But this was a real page turner, with short, snappy chapters.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A Rollercoaster of Secrets and Intrigue
I thoroughly enjoyed Lisa Jewell's "None of This is True," a riveting tale that begins with a seemingly chance encounter and unravels into a web of dark secrets. The story is centred around Alix Summer, a podcaster celebrating her 45th birthday, and Josie Fair, a mysterious woman who claims to be on the brink of life-altering changes.
The narrative takes unexpected turns, keeping readers on the edge of their seats. Jewell skillfully weaves a sense of unease throughout the story, creating an atmosphere of suspense that is hard to shake off. The characters are well-developed, and the dynamics between Alix and Josie add a layer of complexity to the plot.
The exploration of Josie's secrets is both thrilling and chilling, making it difficult to put the book down. The pacing is commendable, with revelations strategically placed to maintain the suspense without feeling rushed. Jewell's writing style is engaging, drawing readers into the lives of the characters and making them feel invested in the unfolding mystery.
However, there were a few aspects of the book that left me wanting. The resolution of certain plot points felt a bit too tidy, and I wished for a bit more exploration into the aftermath of the revelations. Additionally, some secondary characters could have been more fleshed out to provide a deeper understanding of their motivations.
In conclusion, "None of This is True" is a gripping and entertaining read that keeps you guessing until the very end. Lisa Jewell's storytelling prowess shines through, making this a compelling addition to the suspense genre. While I yearned for a bit more depth in certain areas, the overall experience was enjoyable, leaving me eager to explore more of Jewell's works.
Another absolute belter from Lisa Jewell, None of This Is True is edge of your seat thrilling, with horrific secrets and lies at its core. A staggeringly twisting and twisted tale, masterfully told.
Deliciously dark and unsettling with off-the-scale twistiness, this is hands down my favorite Jewell to date. Could I put it down? No. Did I read it in one sitting? Yes. Did I guess where it was going? Not a chance!
The clue is in the title. There is absolutely nothing in this story that you can take at face value, with Jewell spinning an impenetrable web of secrets and lies and deftly blurring the lines between fact and fiction.
Populated with weird, creepy characters and an overwhelming sense of unease, the plot unfolds with a tantalizing tension. And even though you’re primed to the unreliability of certain voices, nothing prepares you for the deluge of twists that come flooding out of nowhere as the narrative builds to a climax. The ending floored me completely.
Hats off to Jewell for her matchless skill in misdirection and for what will surely be one of my top thriller reads of 2023.
Such a brilliant book, I couldn’t put it down and I finished it very quickly.
Brilliant characters, full of twists. I love how Lisa built the plot around the mystery by using the podcast interview.
Absolutely amazing, I will read more books from this author!
