Huge Lisa Jewell fan so I was delighted to get a copy of this to read and review.

I definitely was not disappointed. The concept is different and modern with the story being moved along using podcast and descriptions of a Netflix documentary.

I was hooked straight away, this author knows exactly how to give just enough away to keep you wanting more and what a character Josie is. Just brilliant.

None of this is true by Lisa Jewell is a mesmerising read with so many twists and turns that the reader does have to wonder if really none of this is true.
The Birthday Twins are Alix Summers and Josie Fair who meet on the evening of their 45th birthdays at the local pub.
Josie wants Alix to make a podcast of her life and so it begins but will end with the deaths of three people.
A fascinating and original storyline which just flows and has a unique podcast of different character who all bring together a truly bizarre story.
One of Lisa Jewell’s best books yet. Highly recommend

What a ride! Is there any better feeling that loving a book by an author you haven't read before and then realising there is an extensive back catalogue to work your way through?! Absolutely loved it: so tightly plotted and well-observed; brilliant tension, and masterful characterisation.

Lisa Jewell is a drop-everything-and-this-book-now author for me, and this book is a ride. SO GOOD.

Thanks to Netgalley and the author and publisher for the chance to read this.

Alix Summer and Josie Fair are birthday twins. A fact they discover whilst out for dinner to celebrate their 45th birthday. But that is where the similarity ends. Alix is with a big group of family and friends, while Josie has only her 72 year old husband for company.
Josie research's Alix, finds that she is a podcaster and 'bumps into her'.
Alix is looking for her next subject having finished a series on successful women. When she starts to talk to Josie she thinks she has found the next big thing.
You always know that things are not right with the Fair family. Apart from the age gap between husband and wife there is the daughter who ran away at 16 and the one still at home who never comes out of her room and survives on baby food and pureed meals.
The Summers have their issues too. Nathan, Alix's husband, goes on benders and doesn't come home at night. Alix is considering life without him.
This was a great story. So good that I read it in only two days. Like all of Lisa Jewel's books it grips you and carries you along until the perfect ending. Needless to say, I loved it!

This really played with your mind not knowing what or who to believe. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and when I was not reading it I was thinking about it.

It was very well written and the characters were very believable. I will certainly be recommending this book to friends.

I would like to thank NetGalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone for my ARC for which I have given my unbiased revuew.

I loved Lisa Jewell and have read many of her books and I want to start by saying what another great thriller. I was racing through the pages.

We begin by meeting Alix Summer who is a podcaster out celebrating her birthday. We also meet Josie and Walter who are also out at the same pub for her 45th birthday too and they joke about being birthday twins.

Josie starts listening to pod casts and searching online for information and photos of Alix and her life and convinces herself they must have a deeper connection. Alix also figures out something isn't quite right with Josie but agrees to do a podcast with her and we begin to suspect something strange is going on back at Josie's house.

I loved how I never quite knew who or what to believe. There's so much more I could say but I don't want to leave too many spoilers! I thought it was a great insight for the reader to have from a woman's point of view where they may be the suspect instead of the victim. I also really liked the set out of the book being told at times in a documentary/.podcast style

I will be recommending this book to others 100 percent

I have read all of Lisa Jewell's books and I have to say this one is totally the best yet. I was just blown away by the characters and the story and loved every minute of it. I really didn't want it to end. I envy those who have yet to read it!

With an apt title for her latest offering, Lisa Jewell immerses the reader in the twistiest of psychological thrillers that features Alix Summer, with a popular podcast that looks at women who have turned their lives around after undergoing tough challenges in their lives. Alix is married to Nathan whom she loves, living a comfortable life, with 2 children. It's her 45th birthday and she is celebrating at a local gastropub. Josie Fair happens to be 45 and at the pub too, a totally different woman from Alix, in a place that is not her usual fare, with her significantly older husband, Walter. The women are 'birthday twins' who happen to have even been born in the same hospital.

Later, Josie goes on to suggest herself as a subject for the podcast who wants to radically change her life, Alix eventually comes to conclude that this could work with its potential to appeal to many listeners, but she is little idea just how much she is going to regret agreeing to this. Coming from a dysfunctional family, Josie manoevres and slips her way into Alix's life, relating the unexpected dramas and darkest of secrets that comprise her life, but can she be believed? However, very little of Josie is as it appears in this dark, gripping and chilling narrative, packed with suspense and tension, with some surprising twists, and at the heart of this, some great characters created and developed by Jewell.

This might just be my favourite read from this author! Many thanks to the publisher for an ARC.

Lisa Jewell’s books are always a good read but I particularly enjoyed this one. I wasn’t sure what to make of it at first but did like how the story unfolded. The characters were deliberately misleading and confusing making it hard to work out who exactly was telling the truth.
Read through netgalley but for an honest review

Deliciously dark, dysfunctional and twisty is how I would sum this book up in a few words.

The story begins in a local pub where two women are both celebrating their 45th birthday, the successful podcaster Alix Summers and the bland and unassuming Josie Fairs. Josie introduces herself to Alix as her Birthday Twin. A few days later they run into each other outside Alix’s children’s school, Josie convinces Alix that she is about to change her life and would make an interesting podcast subject.

The story goes on with Josie revealing some deeply disturbing stories about her marriage and raising her two daughters, one of whom ran away from home age 16 and the elder daughter stays in her bedroom gaming, never leaving.

The Netflix extracts kept the pages turning for me, you knew something awful had happened and that it must have been huge to have gone from a podcast to a Netflix documentary. Josie’s strange behaviour and the disturbing tales she told for the podcast kept me engaged. Then bang, the ending and what an ending it was, I did suspect some of it but other parts were a surprise.

I would highly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys a dark psychological suspense with a dysfunctional character. I could not wait to finish work today so I could finish reading. Please do note that there is a part of the story which some readers may find uncomfortable <spoiler> mentions of grooming </spoiler>

I really enjoyed this book and would like to thank NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow............ I mean just wow.

This book was like running 100 miles an hour and then just crashing off the end all of a sudden and as you are coming around you take it all in and make sense of it all.

It was weird, it was believable - it was fantastic and I read it in two sittings. Things have fallen by the wayside as a result but it was worth it.

Not at all what I expected. Not at all what I thought it was going to be but I was hooked, I was mesmerised and I honestly could not have enjoyed it more

I absolutely devoured this book and ended up reading the whole thing in four hours without stopping because I just could not put this book down.
When I first started it I was a little bored within the first few chapters but I could not stop reading and needed to know what happened next and I ended up being obsessed with this book.
This book is definitely a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I could never predict what was going to happen next.
I absolutely loved 'None Of This Is True', it is definitely one of my new favourite thrillers/mysteries and I can't wait to read more of Lisa Jewell's books.

What an absolutely brilliant book, loved it.

Josie and Alex, 2 strangers, in the same restaurant, celebrating their birthdays. Both born in the same hospital on the same day.

Josie is a working mother with 2 daughters and a much older husband. Spotting Alix, a podcast on a night out, Josie befriends her and encourages Alix to podcast her life story.

Groomed as a teenager, with one daughter having left home and one appearing to be a recluse in her bedroom, Josie s marriage to her much older husband seems to hide an abusive relationship.

However, Josies behaviour with Alix begins to become a little in appropriate with Josie stealing items from Alixs home and weaving her way into the family home.

This book is full of twists, turns and will have you gripped right the way through with an unpredictable ending.
Highly recommend a read.

This is a riveting psychological/domestic noir thriller that will raise your heart beat and send your anxiety levels into outer space.
I love books with unreliable narrators and dysfunctional families. Books that are addictive and leave you second guessing everything that you have read with lots of twists and turns. This book has all of that and more. If you like all that stuff too then this book is definitely for you
It's a well written compelling read and I highly recommend it!!

An absolutely unputdownable story which kept me up way past my bedtime!

It starts as the story of a woman who had a horrible start to life, groomed by a family friend who she later married, with two difficult children. She meets her birthday ‘twin’ in a restaurant and decides to tell this podcaster her life story so she can have a new start to life.

It’s a book with suspense, twists and horrifying turns which mean you can’t stop reading. Definitely recommended.

Thanks Netgalley for the book in return for an honest review.

I have so many feelings about this book - it has taken me almost a week after finishing to finally process. Lisa never fails when it comes to psychological thrillers, but 'None of this is true' is fresh, it's even more twisty, and it is extremely gripping.

I was intrigued by the relationship between Alix and Josie, I had a perception that the story was heading in a completely different direction that it ended up going - that is what gripped me the most, the plot keeps you guessing and continues to do so right till the very last page.

I feel the Podcast perspective was a fresh approach to telling Josie's story and initially I really felt for them and their back story, wanting every detail left me inhaling this book and not being able to put it down.

This book is dark, dysfunctional and gritty - perfect for those who love to be kept guessing and wanting more. Lisa has done it again, this book will be the read of 2023.

A dark and disturbing thriller told from two different perspectives with the crafty addition of a podcast thrown in for good measure. Please don't start this unless you really have the time put aside to finish it because once you start you really can't stop! Brilliant.

Meet Alix the podcaster, and Josie the downtrodden unhappy mother and wife. They are Birthday Twins, unrelated yet linked by their birthdate, place of birth and locality.
Alix is intrigued by this stranger’s desire to tell all, how she plans to break free from her drudgery.
An intriguing premise of an influencer and an unhappy fan. Peeling back the layers, it becomes apparent that Josie is a worrying addition to Alix’ life.
A compelling read.

Another brilliant book by Lisa Jewell! I absolutely flew through this book and had it finished in under 48 hours. It was such an addictive read and I couldn’t bring myself to put it down.

The book flips between both Alix and Josie’s perspectives and I enjoyed how we had an insight into how the two women saw each other. The book also includes transcriptions of the podcast and scenes from a Netflix documentary which made the whole story feel more authentic. The change in format really made the book feel like a true crime case.

The reader is left is no doubt that Alix and her family aren’t going to come out of this unscathed. From the clips from the podcast and the documentary, we know something is going to happen. This really heightened the sense of foreboding and as the book progressed the tension was palpable.

We know very early on that Josie has ‘issues’ but I loved how Lisa Jewell gradually showed us more and more of her story as the pieces slowly slotted into place. Josie obviously isn’t a likeable character but I also struggled to warm to Alix. I found it frustrating how she seemed to put her career and curiosity above the safety of her family.

Overall I really enjoyed this book. The claustrophobic tension had me gripped from the beginning and I couldn’t put it down.
