This was a hook line and sinker read for me I literally could not put it down as I needed to know what was going to happen next I became invested in the outcome of the two main characters who were fascinating and fantastically portrayed.

The narrative provided by the podcasts was a fab edition to the book it enhanced the drama as if you were actually listening to it.

A twisted, disturbing domestic thriller the talent on this author really shines in the five star read.

Josie and Alix share a birthday, born on the same day in the same hospital. They meet by chance in a restaurant while both out celebrating.

Their lives are very different, one is a popular podcaster with a rich husband, the other a seamstress with a much older husband.

It's a story of toxic friendship, obsession and versions of the truth.

We know some bad things are going to happen, we learn early on, so notorious that the story includes snippets of the true crime documentary made about the events.

In classic Lisa Jewell style the story and characters are built up gradually. It's very cleverly done, with layers of truths and a deep sense of foreboding.

Not the fastest, but an absolutely compelling read. If you love Lisa Jewell's books this is an absolute must.

Thanks to Netgalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone.

It is hard to write a review of Lisa Jewell’s latest book as so much has been said about this prodigious author’s fictional output already – with most of it true! This is another belter of a book that will no doubt cement her position as one of the UK’s foremost thriller writers. Like so often, this novel starts with a prosaic, entirely believable situation before the reader is taken on a suspenseful ride. Celebrating her 45th birthday at a local hostelry, fictional character Alix Summers meets a woman called Josie who it is revealed shares her birthday. Josie is quick to capitalise on the opportunity to pitch a podcast contribution to Alix, a successful producer. When production starts, more and more harrowing details are revealed about Josie: her teenage marriage, the disappearance of one of her daughters, and the issues suffered by the other daughter. When Josie pitches up at Alix’s house, pleading to be taken in, the story becomes very dark indeed ….

I wish to thank NetGalley and the publishers for the free ARC of a novel that turned out to be very addictive indeed, and that enabled this unbiased book review.

Lisa Jewell has delivered again with this dark, twisty psychological thriller. Disturbing in a way that makes it difficult to put down. Fantastic as always

2 woman's birthdays being on the same day, aswell as the same age and also being born on the same hospital ward. We follow Josie and Alix. Josie wanted to be on Alixs podcast with her having such a complicated life, even if Alix felt uncomfortable by her. Then by Josie disappearing and Alix realising that josie has left a terrifying legacy behind she knows that she and her family are in trouble.

Really gripping read.

This is the third novel I've read by Lisa Jewell so I have some catching up to do! Like her other novels, this is a page turner with interesting characters and a well paced plot. We are introduced to both protagonists, Alex and Josie; one, Alex, a journalist running a successful podcast about womens' issues, the other, Josie, married with two kids and married to a much older man. They meet in a restaurant restroom on the night of their birthdays. Both 45, both born on the same date. After congratulating one another, they part. Josie immediately pondering the successful Alex with her handsome husband, ebbulient friends and non-stop champagne and the constrast with her own life, an elderly husband, two estranged daughters and a job as a machinist in a clothes repair shop.
As always, Lisa Jewell gives us great characters. Human nature makes us route for Josie, downtrodden, unhappy with her lot but also quite like Alex who seems happy, content, successful but also kind and thoughtful. We also know never to accept things at face value, especially with a novelist like Jewell, who will take us on a journey with both women likely to make us reconsider over and over again. Safe to say, you'll have your mind blown in a story with 'my truth' at its root. How lies are used as a currency by one woman to get into the life of the other. You'll wonder about how many of your friends are telling you the truth and how many are living their own truth. Excellent read, highly recommended.

Psychological thrillers are two a penny, so it’s hard to find one that is truly shocking. Yet there is a rare exception to the rule, and in this case it’s the astonishing, gripping None Of This Is True. It’s a cracker of a book that deliciously twisted, with unreliable narrators that constantly keep you wondering who's telling the truth and who's lying. Don’t you just love this kind of storytelling? It’s the type of book that gives you goose pimples. A sense of unease grows at each turn of the page.

When Alix and Josie meet in a pub, they discover that they were both born on the same day at the same hospital and are both happening to be celebrating their 45th birthday. So begins a chain of events that made None Of This Is True such an edge-of-your-seat read. Toxic relationships, manipulation unreliable “truths”, coercion and family secrets, this book has it all. The story is told in a unique way as well as the two protagonists points of view. We have a Netflix documentary and a podcast. Not only does this make it feel like a true crime story, it also builds on the intrigue and suspense tenfold.

I have to mention the characters they are superbly depicted, likeable? No! Strange? You bet! Untrustworthy? Most definitely! Dysfunctional? Without a doubt! Lisa Jewell expertly peels back the layers to reveal an intricate and deliciously twisted tale that will blow your socks off! Unsettling, heartbreaking, sinister and disturbing None Of This Is True is one of the best psychological thrillers I’ve read in a long, long time.

This book was haunting in more ways than one. Lisa Jewell has a wonderful way of weaving stories together and keeping you hooked right until the end. This is the story of Josie and Alix, birthday twins whose lives are coming apart in different ways and who are drawn together almost as salvation of each other.

While it is Josie who is sitting in the chair to tell her story we learn a lot about Alix too and the ways that she is looking to save herself. Her marriage is not what it should be, at least to her eyes, and she questions who she is. Josie on the other hand feels she has never had the opportunity to find out who she is and what she is looking for. There are so many layers to this story and to the storytelling what is truth.

I really liked this book and I was absolutely drawn in and absorbed. But it made me feel uncomfortable sometimes to the level that I found I had to put it down just because it had given me the ick. I would definitely recommend this book to others.

I love Lisa Jewell and she is definitely one of my auto purchase authors, this one did not disappoint, as always Lisa grips you from page 1 all the way through and I could not put this one down, almost finishing it in one sitting. It’s dark and twisty and oh so gripping, you are guessing all the way through if what you’re hearing is true. Will be Highly recommending to everyone. Lisa Jewell at her finest! So dark and gripping - it really simmers with tension and you are on the edge of your seat throughout. Wonderful!

I read 3/4 of this book in one sitting. Only stopping as I had work the next day. We follow Alix as she makes a podcast about her ‘birthday twin’ Josie’s life. It’s a harrowing, upsetting read. Where you follow Josie and feel horror in her experiences and even the hardest of hearts would struggle to not be moved.

Then the story pivots, Alix invites Josie and her husband Walter for dinner and a wry comment takes the reader on a different even more shocking trajectory.

The is one of the best books I have read in a long time. I found myself saying ‘Oh no!’ Out loud at one point I found myself so invested in the characters.

For once a story does not end with the traditional neat bow of a happy ending - this just adds to the enjoyment.

None of this is true by Elisa Jewell was a scintillating thriller with an unreliable narrator. It’s been a week since I read it and I still can’t wrap my head around the ending. There were so many lies and unnecessary deaths in the book. The book was practically addictive and I couldn’t put it down once I started it. I just the love the unique way it was written. There was Netflix show narration and a podcast narration apart from the normal MC’s narration.

I do love books surrounding podcasts and the concept of this one was actually birthday twins. Alix and Josie bump into each other on their 45th birthday and figure out they were born in the same place on the same day- they are birthday twins. Alix was a successful podcaster who just wrapped her show about women overcoming obstacles. As she is looking for a new foray, Josie interludes and pitches herself as a story- a woman who is about to change her life.

This is a pivotal moment in the book, after which both of their lives change forever. Josie had a dark past and she was married very young to a man who was much older than her. But there are contradictions to her narration and a lot of red flags. Alix gets pulled into all her drama and puts herself and her family in grave danger. The ending had me puzzled and I’m still not sure if I completely understood it. Nevertheless, it was an epic must read thriller.

Wow! I absolutely love Lisa Jewell’s novels but this one is probably my favourite one to date, although -warning: it is VERY dark!

Plot (with no spoilers): The two main characters are Alix and Josie. They are two women that discover that they are ‘birthday twins’ when they meet at a restaurant where they are both celebrating their 45th birthday. Alix is a journalist who writes podcasts and later decides ‘birthday twins’ could be an interesting subject for her next series… however, Josie soon starts showing much more interest in this than expected…

Right from the start I was gripped. Completely different storyline from any that I’ve read before. So many twists, turns and cliffhangers that I just couldn’t put it down!

Many thanks to Cornerstone Penguin Random House UK & NetGalley UK for providing me with an ARC
copy of this book.

None of this is true by Lisa Jewel is her upcoming thriller novel. This is the second book I read of the author. The first was The family upstairs and I didn't like it much. This one I really enjoyed.

The story is about two woman Alix and Josie who are birthday twins. Alix does podcasts on women who struggled, fought and achieved. Josie feels she would be a perfect subject for the podcast and convinces Alix to tell her story but Alix realises there's something more than Josie is letting on. Her strange and complicated life hints towards darker secrets.

The book began like a normal drama but there was an interesting grip that made me keep going on. Slowly as the story progressed things started happening and I couldn't put it down. I found dysfunctional family theme recurring for this author. Certain parts of the story really creeped me out and I enjoyed that. The book had an open ending which confused me but still it's enjoyable.

I am sure thriller lovers and Lisa Jewel fans will love it.

This is a great, easy read perfect for a book club or holiday. It provokes the question of how we choose relationships and who to let get close to us. It felt as though this book had been written with the serialisation in mind which affected the depth of the text somewhat but didn't take away from the enjoyability of the story. I will be recommending this book.
