Another absolute belter of a book from Lisa Jewell. I had been hearing about it everywhere and was looking forward to reading it, as I always do with Lisa's books, but this has blown me away in a whole new way.
It is set around two women; Josie, the wife of a considerably older man, and Alix, the modern chic podcaster. They meet when they are both out for their birthday dinners at the same restaurant. Josie becomes fixated with Alix and worms her way into her life. Alix is curious about Josie as she seems to have an unusual back story. They decide to record a podcast, Hi, I'm your birthday twin, which is the first thing that Josie said to Alix.
The story is weaved between present day and a future Netflix documentary, which lets the reader know that something awful has happened. The something awful is revealed bit by bit as events unfold in the present day telling of the story.
It's utterly gripping and everything you could hope for from Lisa Jewell.

Lisa Jewell is a writer at the height of her power in this intricately plotted novel. It's a Single White Female for the 2020s.
On social media podcaster Alix lives the perfect life with a wealthy and attentive husband and legions of friends. When they meet at a local pub both celebrating their birthdays, Alix thinks nothing of it, but Josie becomes obsessed. Stalking Alix, she soon persuades her to make a podcast about Josie's life, which leads their lives intertwining with horrific results.
Jewell will keep you guessing to the end.

Wow this is definitely the best Lisa Jewell book I’ve read! Absolutely addictive plot, so well written and totally engaging. I read it over a weekend, literally couldn’t put it down. Characters were all excellent and the way the transcript of a Netflix show was included was brilliantly done. I will be recommending this to all my friends when it’s released xx

“None of this is true” by Lisa Jewell, will be a summer hit, no doubt. At the heart of the story is Alix and Josie - opposites in life but birthday twins. Alix Summers is a successful podcaster with the ‘ideal’ life, a rich husband - Nathan, a nice house and 2 wonderful children.
Josie Fairs is married to a man 28 years older than her, Walter and leads a relatively quiet life. Alix and Josie’s lives become intertwined after their 45th birthday celebrations in the same gastropub. What starts as the relatively harmless creation of a podcast called “Hi! I’m your birthday twin”, ends well, very, very badly.
None of this is true”, is well written, gripping and addictive; and I read it over 3 sittings in 24 hours - I especially enjoyed the insertion of transcription snippets from both the podcast and the subsequent Netflix special.
4.5, rounded to 5.

Lisa's new thriller had me squirming on my seat and shouting at my kindle 'no don't do it!' whenever Josie started to worm her way into the Summers family.
Josie goes for a birthday meal at the local pub and meets Alix who's 45th birthday it also is. Here sparks Josie's obsession and the idea for the 'my birthday twin' podcast. It all starts to unravel from here.... soooo good.

I snap up a Lisa Jewell book as fast as I can, thoroughly entertained by each one. I couldn’t wait to read this and I was not disappointed. Full of twists and misdirection, I thought I had pieced things together but then something else would happen.
I genuinely was surprised at the end, which I don’t often feel. I knew something wasn’t quite right but wow.
Great characters, all have more going on than first appears. I was intrigued from the off and knew that there was more than just a same birthday connection. It was interesting to see how the characters infiltrated into each others lives.
On the surface you have Alix, successful podcaster, successful husband, two young children and somewhat perfect life; but underneath all of this there are issues and problems. Josie is odd, it doesn’t take long to realise this; maybe struggling with her lot in life, especially having a husband so much older than her and grown children; she sees Alix, who is the same age, and sees how differing their lives are. Appearances are deceptive though and as Josie becomes more present in Alix’s life, the more we read that things are definitely not as they seem.
Fantastic, dark and creepy. Highly recommended.

None of this is true, or is it?
A dark, faat paced, psychological thriller which has you hooked.
When Alix a podcaster is drawn in by the tales and manipulation of Josie, she is intrigued. Unbeknown to her, Josie pulls her into the dark murky depths of her mind and her chosen reality and lies.
But which of the tales are true!

I was quickly drawn into this book which features the standard unreliable characters and surprising plot twists. I have read other books by this author but I think is probably my favourite so far

I was so excited to get my hands on Lisa Jewells latest thriller before it comes out in July, and let me tell you it didn't disappoint!
I've had a bit of a slow reading month but I flew through this one over the weekend purely because I was so gripped I couldn't put it down! Lisa Jewell is such a skilled thriller writer, she really knows how to keep you hooked in and draw things out whilst keeping the pace fast.
This book is based around two women. Alix summer, a podcast host looking for a new idea, and Josie Fair who meets Alix, her "birthday twin" and proposes she becomes the subject of Alix's podcast because she has an interesting story to tell. And boy is her story interesting!
The book intertwines a podcast and netflix documentary and it works really well. The plot is gripping and the characters are strong and well developed which makes for very addictive reading!
I loved the dark undertones throughout the book and how I had no idea half the time what was about to happen next. It was a wild ride! Thriller fans and Lisa Jewell fans are definitely going to love this book!

Alix Summers has a podcast all about women who have overcome difficult situations in their lives. When she meets Josie Fair and discovers they were born on the same day in the same hospital, they strike up a friendship and Josie suggests making a podcast about her own struggles in the past. Their friendship quickly becomes sinister when Josie starts to show her true colours.
This was an eerie, uncomfortable read and I absolutely loved it! Lisa Jewell is one of my absolute favourites and this new one could just be her best yet! Excellent!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the chance to read

Two women out celebrating their birthdays strike up a conversation in the restaurant toilets, they realise they were both born on the same day, same time even the same hospital they joke they are birthday twins they wish each other a happy birthday and.say goodbye..The next day their paths cross again.
Alix is a famous podcaster and when Josie suggests they do a story about them being birthday twins she thinks it's a good idea but what follows is a story that takes obsession to the next level. The story is told from both women's perspective as well as transcripts from a Netflix series titled 'Hi I'm Your Birthday Twin'.
Wow I could'nt read this fast enough for me it's Lisa Jewells best one yet.A dark psychological read that really keeps you guessing.
Thanks to Netgalley and Random House UK for the ARC.

Wow this is Lisa Jewel at her best! This is part story, part podcast/Netflix documentary but it's easy to follow despite the changing format. It's mainly told from the POV of Josie and Alix, and you soon begin to realise that you're not quite sure what is true and what isn't... I'm still not sure!
It's divided into four parts and by part three I was reading it with my heart racing, wanting know what happens and what the truth is. It's fast paced throughout and full of twist and turns, many of which you don't see coming.
A great book, will definitely be recommending it to everyone.

Lisa Jewell at her absolute best, a brilliant book, full of twists and surprises with three-dimensional characters, brilliantly and beautifully written. Loved it.

I think this is Lisa's best book yet. So cleverly plotted, you are constantly trying to second guess the motives of the main characters, who is reliable and who not. But still I didn't guess the ending. Great characterisation, really pacey and well-written.

None of this is true is the new psychological thriller from Lisa Jewell.
The story centers around two women who meet by chance one night and discover they are in fact birthday twins. But it’s here where the similarities end. Alix Summers is a popular podcaster who lives in a beautiful house together with her wealthy husband and two small children, while Josie Fair is a struggling seamstress who lives with her very old husband in a small flat with her one adult child.
Josie proposes that she be the next subject for Alix’s podcast, and despite her misgivings Alix agrees. She has so many questions, like why did Josie marry such an older man, what happened to her daughter Roxy, and what is wrong with her first child Erin?
Before long Josie has worked her way into every aspect of Alix’s life, but with so many dark secrets coming to light you can’t help but wonder if she’s going to come out of this new friendship unscathed.
While there is a sense of mystery in the book, it goes hand in hand with a foreboding. A knowledge that despite not knowing exactly what will happen as the story unravels, that it’s going to be both terrible and sad. And so you’ll find yourself almost trepidatious to read the next chapter.
To be honest I found myself not liking the characters very much, obviously Josie is designed to raise your suspicions but for Alix to blindly pursue a course of action despite every warning bell telling her not to left me feeling a bit despondent. While there were some important themes raised, including manipulation, toxic relationships, mental health and alcohol abuse, the story wasn’t able to rise above my dislike of the main characters and the fact that I found the Netflix chapters jarring.

Oh I love Lisa Jewell and this book is the reason why.
This was so good and yet at one point I had to put it down but it was not comfortable reading!
Josie and Alix meet on a night out when they are both celebrating their birthdays. Alix is a podcaster and Josie finds her, persuading Alix that she has a story to tell, of her life with her very much older husband.
At first we hear about Josie being groomed by her husband and how she is determined to change her life. But as the story moves on, Alix knows that things aren't adding up.
A gripping psychological thriller, with great characters.

Another fantastic and gripping psychological thriller from Lisa Jewell!
In None of This is True, we meet two women with completely contrasting lives, who happen to meet at a local pub one night whilst both celebrating their 45th birthdays.
Alix Summer – the woman who appears to have it all – the successful podcaster with two gorgeous children, a successful husband and instagrammable house. And Josie Fair – a timid woman with no friends and a husband much older than her, with one daughter who she hasn’t seen for years and another who stays mysteriously hidden in her bedroom.
After their meeting, Josie becomes fixated on Alix and orchestrates another meeting with her, suggesting that she might be a good topic for her podcast – a woman on a journey to change her life and break free.
The story switches between Alix and Josie’s perspective – alongside transcripts from a Netflix series based on the podcast ‘Hi! I’m your birthday twin!’ The snippets from the future provide an ominous glimpse as to what is going to happen as the two women get further interconnected as they work on the podcast.
None of This is True will truly keep you on the edge of your seat and reading into the night – Josie’s story becomes darker and darker whilst at the same time throwing up hints that she may not be telling the whole truth. I couldn’t stop thinking about which parts could be true and what might not be – and what secrets she might be hiding!
As it reaches a crescendo towards the end, I was surprised and delighted by the way the story was woven together and the revelations. The very end was a masterpiece!
