Great read. Not so sure about the 'Netflix' descriptions but does not take away from the quality of the writing with this thriller hitting all the right notes.
My thanks to NetGalley and Random House for this ARC in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
None Of This Is True
by Lisa Jewell
Release date - 08/08/2023
Is this thing on 🎤🎤
Holy Cow, What in the Cranium Contortion did I just read? I’ve never second-guessed the truth in a book more than this one.
I LOVED IT🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Alix and Josie meet by chance one night at a bar, and they’re the same age with the same bday. So Josie learns Alix has a successful podcast and pitches her a new storyline.
Hi, I’m your birthday twin!
Alix takes the bait, and off we go. Every chapter, you’re just like 🤯🤯, is this true? If that’s true, then the one prior can’t be.
This is prob one of my favorites of Lisa’s so far , and I’ve been reading her books since Ralph’s party. And they keep getting better ❤️

From the book ;
Celebrating her forty-fifth birthday at her local pub, popular podcaster Alix Summers crosses paths with an unassuming woman called Josie Fair. Josie, it turns out, is also celebrating her forty-fifth birthday. They are, in fact, birthday twins.
A few days later, Alix and Josie bump into each other again, this time outside Alix’s children’s school. Josie has been listening to Alix’s podcasts and thinks she might be an interesting subject for her series. She is, she tells Alix, on the cusp of great changes in her life.
Josie’s life appears to be strange and complicated, and although Alix finds her unsettling, she can’t quite resist the temptation to keep making the podcast. Slowly she starts to realize that Josie has been hiding some very dark secrets, and before she knows it, Josie has inveigled her way into Alix’s life—and into her home.
First of all thank you to Netgalley and Random House UK for the ARC of None Of This Is True
"Celebrating her 45th birthday at her local pub, podcaster Alix Summers crosses paths with an unassuming woman called Josie Fair. Josie is also celebrating her 45th birthday. They are, in fact birthday twins.
Soon she begins to wonder who is Josie Fair? And what has she done?"
I'm a big fan on Lisa Jewell's work so I had very high hopes for this book and was not disappointed! It had me intrigued from the start and got me more and more hooked as the story went on to the point I literally couldn't put it down. One of the best psychological thrillers I've read in quite a while!
Lisa Jewell at her best!!!!!
I have been increasingly enjoying Jewell's writing in recent years but this one is her best for me. I adored how unreliable every character was, I never truly knew who the bad guy was right until the end. Alix was obviously painted as the glowing golden girl, but we knew she had a dark past. Josie was painted to be a bit strange, but was she all bad? What about her husband who was allegedly grooming her as a child?
There was so much to unpack and I could not honestly turn the pages fast enough. I was absolutely RAVENOUS to find out how it was all going to come together. And I was not disappointed!!! I will be buying this one as gifts when it comes out.!!!
Birthday twins Alix Summers and Josie fair meet in a pub on their 45th birthday. Alix runs an a successful podcast centres mostly around women's lives. Their meeting starts an interaction with the two women. Lisa Jewell is my favourite writer hands down I have read every single one of her books and when I say this is Jewells best book yet I don't mean it lightly. Readers are in for a treat. I am sad I have to wait even longer now for her next book.
Lisa Jewell is one of the best thriller writers out there. I haven't read a thriller in a long time that has gripped me like this. I enjoyed the Netflix documentary-style plot, which is relevant to this day and age and instantly hooked me. Easily my favourite Lisa Jewell book.
Could not put this one down. Such a compelling and carefully woven story, where I thought I'd worked it out only to realise I hadn't - brilliant characters and actually totally heartbreaking.
This is so well written and kept me hooked all the way through. We not only have the story itself, but this is embellished by the narrative of a ‘true life’ podcast about what went on with the characters. There are so many lies told throughout, yet I was left wondering at times what is the actual truth?
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing a copy.
This is the best book I've read from Lisa Jewell. Twisty, addictive and completely disturbing, the characters in this leave you no idea who to trust or what's coming next. An absolute whirlwind of a thriller!
A gripping book from beginning to end. I couldn’t put it down. Twists and turns throughout , well written with well developed characters and a thought provoking ending . All of which will make you hooked. One of the best Lisa Jewell’s books that I’ve read, and I’ve read them all. One to definitely have on your reading list. Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to read this book.
Wow, 'None Of This Is True' has just rocketed to being my favourite book by Jewell. Honestly, Jewell just keeps getting better and better with every book. In this read we follow Josie as she entwines her life with Alix's, shares very dark secrets and then disappears. Leaving Alix to pick up the pieces.
It is clear there is going to be a mystery and secrecy at the heart of this but my goodness are there secrets aplenty! This book has so many secrets and so many twists and it made for heart-stopping, exhilarating reading. Jewell does cover some very hard hitting subjects as well so be warned.
I absolutely adored how Jewell writes this, we read in the character's perspectives but we also have snippets from what becomes a Netflix programme, it made for engaging reading and only served to fuel my interest and obsession with the book.
Jewell's characters are spectacular and the perfect balance of likeable, flawed and people with dark secrets. I loved getting to know all of them and seeing what role they plan in events. In all honesty, I could not tear myself away from this until I had finished it and I am very jealous of anyone yet to read this.
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House UK for an advance copy.
I couldn’t contain my excitement when I received the eARC of this book from Net Galley. I’ve read a number of books by Lisa Jewell and they never disappoint me, and this one was no exception. The plot drew me in, the characters were intriguing and hard to figure out, you aren’t sure who to believe. The plot twist, as always, was a complete shock. This was fast-paced and I finished it in just a few hours, another great Lisa Jewell novel. .
Thank you to Net Galley for letting me read this Lisa Jewell Gem. What a page turner! From the first page it gripped and the whole way through it was edge of seat. Fantastic book and highly deserved 5 stars from me.
Thanks to Lisa Jewell. Random House and NetGalley for the ARC of None of this is True.
Oh Em Gee. This has to be Lisa's best book yet. I devoured it - literally could not stop reading.
Pocaster Alix Summers is celebrating her 45th birthday when she meets Josie - her birthday twin - also celebrating her 45th birthday but in a very different place. This chance encounter will change botht heir lives forever. When they meet again, Josie presents an idea for a new podcast and they start to meet regularly as Josie tells her story - a dark one at that. Before she know's what is happening Alix is sucked into a world she never expected - filled with secrets and shocking revelations about Josie and her family.
Set in the format of a Netflix documentary - reading this book felt at times like watching a true crime programme in real life - almost to the point where you forget it's not actually real.
I loved this book, with complex and strongly formed characters, a multi layered storyline and a completely statisfying ending. Strong recommendation and easy 5 stars from me.

This is a brilliant read.
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable.
Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuously.
Can't wait to read what the author brings out next.
Recommend reading.
I was provided an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher. This is my own honest voluntary review.
WHAT DID I JUST READ?
Lisa Jewell, I need to live in your brain for just one hour because you are an absolute storytelling genius! I am not okay. Are you okay? I am not okay. This is your best one yet, and I’ve read every last one.
This book is an absolute master class in the thriller genre. Whew! Just go ahead and pre-order this one right now because it’s going to be the hit of the year.
I was immediately and completely absorbed in this Netflix documentary within a podcast within a book format.
I will also be listening to this on audio as soon as I can as well. I can only imagine how that will play out. I can’t wait.
An absolute must-read, friends. Fast paced, eye-popping twists and turns, characters that are absolutely bonkers! Just go ahead and order it now!
Could this be her best yet? Well I think it just might be. This is Lisa Jewell at her absolute finest, with a twisty turny psychological thriller guaranteed to keep you guessing. Bravo!
I’ve found my favourite read of the year so far! None Of This Is True by the talented Lisa Jewell was just a non-stop thrill ride!
Jewell introduces us to the character and helps us get to know them by sharing just enough information for us think we know enough about them. I found Alix quite relatable, and Josie so intriguing!
Loved the format of this where it moved from the perspective of Josie, to Alix but also to acquaintances being interviewed for Netflix! I could actually picture the scene and it really added a different experience to the book!
The plot had a great pace, gradually building the suspense before the draw-dropping/WTF/Holy Sh*t moments! - I couldn’t wait to finish it, but didn’t want it to end!!
Loved it! 5 stars
None of this is true should come with a warning that it will keep you awake the entire night. Once you start reading it, you cannot put the book down. The story revolves around Alix Summers and Josie Fair who by the turn of fate are birthday twins. Not just they are born on the same day, they were born in the same hospital. And that one fact changed both their lives irrevocably.
When you pick up Lisa Jewell's books, you know you are up for a ride. Nothing will be as it seems and by the end of it, you will be blown away. I really liked the portrayal of both Alix and Josie characters. Alix Summers is portrayed as a strong woman and loves the family. Josie's kids are older now and gathers inspiration from the podcaster,
The ending of the book is surprising and refreshing. It will need reader's effort to understand the characters at the end of the book.
It is an absolute recommendation and my rating for the book is 4.5 stars.
None of This is True is the new book by thriller queen Lisa Jewell.
In a pub podcaster Alix who runs a podcast about inspirational women is approached by a woman called Josie who says she’s her ‘birthday twin’ the two get talking and Josie tells Alix that she’d be the perfect subject for her podcast.
As Alix gets to know Josie she realises that this will not be her usual podcast subject…
The story is told in interviews from the podcast and flashbacks, and is an interesting format - I could totally imagine this being a Netflix series!
I don’t want to give much away about the plot but it gets dark - and unhinged. Josie is hiding something and by the end you’ll be left wondering what part of the book was actually true (similar to the feeling of the Verity ending!)
