I enjoyed the premise of this book and it was a decent read but I just found the ending too predictable. I think the obsession with the unreliable narrator has got to the point where there are no surprises and you are left feeling quite flat because there are no resolutions. Who is telling the truth? The older I get the more I'm coming to the conclusion that I want endings and certanties, even if I'm not altogether happy with them.

Lisa Jewell is easily in my top 3 writers. She never lets me down and I think each book gets better. This doesn’t disappoint.
I love the new trend to write books based on true crime podcasts. Very punchy way of writing. I’m only sad it’s over. Look forward to the next one. An absolutely amazing talent.

None of This is True by Lisa Jewell
A new thriller from Lisa Jewell is always something to look forward to and this new novel is engaging and entertaining. The story opens with Josie Fair going out to celebrate her 45th birthday with her much older husband. While she is out she encounters Alix who too is celebrating her 45th but with a lively group of friends. The contrast between Josie’s quiet celebration and the noisy party for Alix is marked. Josie makes a point of going to the ladies at the same time as Alix and introduces herself as her birthday twin. It transpires that they were born in the same hospital and so their link deepens.
Alix is a podcaster and decides to interview Josie for her podcast and then the story unravels from the two viewpoints of Alix and Josie and also through a Netflix podcast/documentary called “HI I’m Your Birthday Twin”. The book keeps you gripped throughout as you try to establish exactly what has happened. You know you are in very safe writer’s hands as the characters become more fully developed as you read on.
The Netflix extracts add a particular tension to the story as the story twists and new scenarios are revealed through interviews with more minor characters in the novel. The interviews appear to be in real time discussing what was happening in the book and made you aware that something dramatic was about to occur. As is often the case with this writer there is a twist in tale and you finish the book questioning what is true. I will be thoroughly recommending this book to my various book groups.
With thanks to Net Galley and Random House U.K. for the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

Lisa Jewell never disappoints another gripping page turner with plenty of twists and turns - Josie meets Alix by chance when they are both celebrating their birthdays finding out they not only share the same birthday but are the exact same age Josie declares they are ‘birthday twins’ and so the story begins . The obsessive character of Josie draws you in and the current topic of crime pod casts that Alix is recording deepens the plot brilliantly . Loved this book highly recommended

If you’ve ever had a cold hand pit on your warm shoulder and can remember how it felt - this is that feeling in book form! Truly spectacular!

Lisa Jewell is one of my favourite authors and yet again she did not disappoint. There's a kind of dark uncomfortable feeling as you read the book - in a gripping way and you feel like you are finding your way in the dark trying to work out what is going on.

This is my first Lisa Jewell book and I’m so frustrated with myself for being so late to the Jewell party.
This is a very hard book to review as i really don’t want to give away any spoilers, you need to go into this book without any hints or spoilers to get the full effect.
Every page is easy to read and impossible to put down.
And I really mean that I was up until 4am reading it !
I felt the ending was a little rushed in parts but otherwise it was faultless!
I adored the format of being a podcast , Netflix series and being narrated between our leading characters all at the same time. It’s such a perfectly plotted thriller and if you love true crime you are going to adore this book.
Trust me this is one that will be a bestseller and in the charts for a long time!
Honestly don’t walk but run to that preorder button. This is one you don’t want to miss!

A chance meeting in the ladies room while out celebrating their birthdays turns their lives upside down! Josie quickly becomes obsessed with Alix Summers. This is a crazy psycho thriller! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy.

OMG! I think this is the quickest I’ve ever read a book! Absolutely engrossing and so well written. I really felt like I got to know the characters and even found myself tutting out loud and shaking my head at some of shenanigans Josie Fair was getting up too!
I loved the way we had insights into the Netflix programme in the story too - what a fab way to escalate the tension and mean you are never quite sure how the story is going to end!
Still find myself thinking about those characters even though I’ve finished the book. The sign of an awesome book I reckon, and this is definitely that!

My thanks to NetGalley and Random House for a copy of “None Of This Is True” for an honest review.
I’ve read all of Lisa Jewell’s previous books and she never disappoints .This latest book by her is ,for me, her best yet. Her writing and characterisation are always of the highest standards.
This storyline builds the tension perfectly, there were so many twists and turns ,and I couldn’t put the book down until I’d finished it..I read a lot of books but this one will stay in my memory for quite a while.
This kept me guessing right till the end of the book and beyond !
Another 5 star review for Lisa Jewell from me and a book I’ll definitely be recommending to others.

I can pretty much guarantee by this point that I will enjoy anything Lisa Jewell comes up with, but while I was fully expecting to enjoy this one, I didn't expect to be so drawn in so quickly, For me, this is the perfect kind of thriller - twisty, well paced, well written, and genuinely shocking, and I absolutely loved it.
We begin with two women celebrating separately in a local pub. Josie Fair, 45, is having a quiet birthday meal with her husband when she spots podcaster Alix Summers arriving with a large party of friends, also to celebrate her birthday. Alix is also 45 - "we're birthday twins!", Josie tells Alix when she encounters her in the bathroom. And that should be that. But Josie can't stop thinking about Alix - successful, beautiful Alix. And so she seeks her out to make a proposition: that they make a podcast together. Alix is intrigued by the premise: exploring the life of a woman from the same area with the same birthday as her. But as the two start to record, it becomes clear that Josie has darker secrets than Alix could even be begin to guess...
"None of this is true" has everything I love in a thriller: a dual narrative, an unreliable narrator, and a reveal so gradually, brilliantly done, its like peeling an onion to find a pearl at the centre. The dual narrative works brilliantly, and I also loved the segments lifted from the podcast/Netflix show, which gave the novel another layer. I couldn't put this down, and really begrudged having to tear myself away!
Absolutely fantastic, one of the best books I've read in ages. I only wish I could it give it ten stars rather than five.
Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher, who granted me a free ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

None Of This Is True is the latest book from Lisa Jewell, who is one of my go to authors.
Josie Fair is going out for dinner with her husband, to celebrate her 45th birthday. Coincidence would have her meet Alix Summers, a local low level celeb, who is known for podcasting. Alix is also celebrating her 45th birthday. Both women are married with two children, were born in the same hospital. They are Birthday Twins, but, that is where any similarities firmly end.
Josie is an intriguing character. Early in the book, we are given the feeling that there is so much buried below her surface. There were so many questions about her, and her situation, that ran through my mind. A lot of questions regarding Walter, her husband too. Her two children are clearly troubled in some way, an image we see through tantalising snippets, given to us by the author.
As we learn more of Josie’s life, meeting Walter, and Pat, her mother, the tension quietly and gently builds.
The story unfolds, through her podcast recordings with Alix. We hear how Josie became the Josie we see today. As a reader, I became just as hooked in her story, as Alix was.
So many times I wanted to talk to Alix, to tell her to listen to her gut; but she wasn’t listening to me.
The characterisation is wonderful, both women are interesting, and flawed, as we all are. None Of This Is True is a slow burn, but it is written so incredibly well, that the intrigue and suspense builds and builds. I was so eager to learn exactly what had happened. My feelings towards the characters were constantly changing, swaying backwards and forwards.
I think None Of This Is True will be a Summer hit, being packed into many a hand luggage bag, being read by pools and on beaches in the glorious sun. This is another 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read from the wonderful Lisa Jewell, highly recommended.

WOW! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Super Shiny Stars
A chance encounter in a restaurant restroom, with a so called "Birthday Twin" turns everything around!
A dark, twisty, and gripping read.
Thanks #NetGalley for an advance copy 😊

A fantastic book full of twists and turns! Loved the characters and their stories. There is nothing better than a thriller that you eat up in one sitting from beginning to end, and it keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very last chapter! Amazing. Love Lisa Jewell’s work and will continue to for a very long time!

This book was absolutely brilliant! I really like Lisa Jewell anyway and was so pleased to be granted an advance copy of this novel. I read this book in two days, I couldn't put it down. Lisa manages to convey real depth to the main characters and you sway between loving or loathing them depending on what's happening. So many twists and turns that you're never sure what way this is going to turn out! I cannot recommend this book highly enough. If you're a fan of suspense, domestic thrillers or psychological books you need to read this.

There's a bit of a trend at the moment for a story to be structured around a podcast or a true crime documentary - feels like I've read a few of these lately - and with None of This is True, Lisa Jewell has managed to incorporate both. Because it's Lisa Jewell and everything she writes is amazing, it's a cracking read.
Alix and Josie meet by chance on their shared forty-fifth birthday. Alix has a podcast interviewing successful women about their lives; Josie, a dissatisfied wife (to the much older Walter) and mother, hardly fits that category. Nevertheless, Josie persuades Alix to interview her, a decision which will inevitably not end well.
We see the story from both women's points of view, and it's fair to say that Josie, in particular, has a lot she's not saying, maybe not even to herself. What is true and what isn't? How can you be sure?
A brilliant read.

This book was SO GOOD! I’ve been a fan of Lisa Jewell for pretty much my whole life, and her latest did not disappoint. The blurb alone is very interesting and I couldn’t wait to dive in. Reading this, I immediately got a creepy “something isn’t right” feeling which Lisa is a master at. This book just kept getting more and more creepy by the page and it was difficult to put down! This one in particular was giving me old V.C. Andrews vibes. This book is a must read and will not disappoint !

What a ride this book was. Now that I've read multiple Lisa Jewell books I know that they all have something in common: they're absolutely unputdownable and I eat them up in a couple of days. None of this is True was no different. I loved it.
Usually Lisa Jewell books have multiple timelines, most of the time one of the points of views is that of a teenager, and this book does not have that. So it's a little different. But I loved it nonetheless. It explores, as the title suggests, the theme of truth, especially in relation to past trauma, family relationships and abuse. The lines on what is moral and what isn't are very blurred (another Lisa Jewell statement), which I really appreciate, because it made me think hard on what I consider to be moral or immoral, good or bad, and this book shows that there's no one truth about it.
I highly recommend this book for fans of Lisa Jewell, she's become an auto-buy-author for me and will read everything she publishes. This story didn't disappoint.

The sense of dread NEVER let up in this book. It really was quite nerve wracking!
It has some very clever twists , and the sense that I never really knew what to believe. A good read but not for the faint hearted

Great read wasnt sure where as heading but wonderfull charcter in the woman that infiltrated the main characters life.
Also liked that she wasn’t afraid to write the husbands arc in a certain way and I can also for see a sequal .
Ty Lisa four starts our key cause of the way she closed husbands part
